Chapter 476: Spring lilies blossoming in the family

Beginning of volume 8

Sanzi revealed a licentious smile to Sheyan’s words.

“Brother Yan your memory is truly amazing. Yes, she is only 32 this year, but her husband is a wastrel and a drunkard. The third day of the previous year, I heard he fell into the water; nobody knows whether he drowned because he lost his footing, or because he was drunk. Moreover, they didn’t have a single child. Not that nobody had designs on her, but Old Song was previously a butcher with a greedy and uncouth personality; working the widow was akin to reducing two workers on his payroll. Since then, he refused to yield, and other suitors could only sulk dully and helplessly.”

“I have no clue why, but everytime she delivers food, I notice that Uncle Dasi and her get along pretty well. These few days, every time she delivers food, they would always converse for rather long. This Shrimp paste was given by her. Di Gu should be helping Uncle Dasi to change his dressing now; if you disturb now, wouldn’t it be foiling their bliss?”

“Oh? Something like that really happened?” Sheyan’s vigor was roused, and would obviously refrain from committing such a crime. After pondering a little, he disembarked and headed towards Xiwu pier to purchase some things, before returning to slowly enjoy these sliced delicacies with Sanzi.

Only at 2 in the afternoon, did he finally get to see Uncle Dasi sending Di Gu out. When uncle Dasi caught sight of Sheyan, his aged face flushed with delight; but immediately shouted for his workers to to continue working, to mask his embarrassment.

Sheyan laughed internally as he spectated, proceeding to exchange greetings with Uncle Dasi as he refrained from exposing him. Afterwards, he feigned that he had forgotten something, and seized this excuse to rush out; before proceeding to bar He Fengdi’s way.

Old Song’s restaurant was located at the north of Xiwu pier, around the southern part of that area. To reach there, one had to pass through a sparse coconut grove, where leaves were on the verge of extinction. With the scorching sunlight beating down, there wasn’t a single person present during the afternoon. Sheyan hastily rushed up to her from behind, before calling her. That lady was rather taken aback, as she raised her eyes to scour at him.

Sheyan hadn’t had the chance previously, and similarly examined the lady before him. Probably due to operating near stoves, she wore black hair netting; preventing a single hair from leaking out. Her sleeves were slightly half-folded, while her baggy trousers were tugged into her cloth shoes. Her bearing appeared keenly neat and tidy.

Her face was the shape of a goose egg, were her brows neither too thick nor thin; only, her lips were slightly puckered. She release an impression of gentleness and decisiveness. Her figure somewhat ample and sleek, while her features became more pleasant with every glance. A pearl sized birthmark on her forehead added to her charm.

On the whole, though she appeared somewhat in her forties, it was mainly due to her make up making her look more mature. According to Sheyan’s observation, if she adorned fresher looking clothes, she would definitely appear like a charming young married woman around the age of 30.

“Is it Di Gu?” Sheyan amicably smiled while speaking. “My Uncle Dasi forgot something he wanted you to have. His skin is rather thin, but you know his personality. That is why I’m helping him with this.”

While he explained, Sheyan produced a golden bracelet. Xiwu pier had always been a dirty port not just in name; Sheyan was immensely clear on the state of illegal businesses in this region. Thus, without much effort, he managed to purchase this previously. He Fengdi glanced at the 2-3 bangles of glistening yellow; noticing its elaborate craftsmanship, she asked in shock.

“What are you trying to do?”

Sheyan stared at her solemnly, his gaze turning sharp but his tone remained relatively neutral.

“Uncle Dasi brought me up since young, sacrificing his own youth. As long as my old man can live happily, I will be extremely contented. Although I purchased that boat, the owner of it is Uncle Dasi. If you don’t believe, you can examine it.

Sheyan then fished out the recently drafted contract. Instead, He Fengdi exclaimed.

“Aiyaayaa, what does it have to do with me!”

Sheyan swept a look at her, before replying unenthusiastically.

“I’m just showing it to you, I never said it involves you.”

As he spoke, he unfolded the contract and earnestly pointed to show her. Not knowing why, but when Sheyan phrased it such a way, He Fengdi felt like she couldn’t reject it at all; and proceeded to pry at it like it was just a curious coincidence. Indeed, the named owner of the boat was Uncle Dasi.

Sheyan then casually handed the golden bracelet to her.

“This is what Uncle Dasi wanted me to bring over, take it.”

He Fengi casted a look at it and got a huge fright; as though she was scalded by something. Immediately, she retracted her hand and questioned.

“How can I accept something so valuable?”

Her response was already within Sheyan’s calculations. He chuckled and placed the golden bracelet onto a rock nearby.

“Then just treat it as if you just picked it up.”

He Fengdi angstily rebuked.

“How can I treat it as if I just picked it up!”

Sheyan no longer wished to talk much, shrugging his shoulders he replied while he left.

“Then let someone else pick it up. Uncle Dasi instructed me; ‘if the receiver doesn’t want it, then toss it into the sea. I cannot lose that person’!”

“Hey, hey!!” Stamping her feet behind while carrying her food trays, how would she chase up to the energetic Sheyan? Let’s talk truthfully; which female wouldn’t be vain? Which female wouldn’t love beauty? Especially to a woman like her who had experienced marriage and widowhood, she understood the rapid changing temperament of humans. When viewing other old hags flaunting off their riches and making individualistic comparisons, nobody would be willing to remain as a mere admirer.

He Fengdi examined the golden bracelet again, as her eyes revealed a bewitched allurement. She couldn’t resist the urge of testing it on her wrist. When Sheyan glanced back to peep, his lips curled into a slight smile.

If He Fengdi was a young lady, then dealing with her would be much tougher. However, she was an oppressed widow, making it much simpler to convince her. If the chances of matchmaking between her and Uncle Dasi were around 30%, then with Sheyan winging them, even if it wasn’t in the bag, it would at least be 90%.

Following that during dinner, Sheyan made a stealthy attempt to eavesdrop; discovering that He Fengdi didn’t mention anything about a bracelet, but her treatment towards Uncle Dasi had turned additionally gentler. Knowing this affair was more or less successful, he proceeded to entrust cash with Sanzi; allowing him to purchase those bizarre specimens of food and stuffs to place on the boat.

Those things weren’t necessarily precious, but focused on the term ‘novelty’; allowing Uncle Dasi the excuse to frequently gift her such novel specimens. People often say, ‘one has to show face after accepting one’s grace’. Therefore, constantly consuming and receiving; in a viler perspective, naturally one’s clothings will slowly become looser…..

As time trickled by, the intimacy between Uncle Dasi and He Fengdi became warmer. Meanwhile, Sanzi also repeatedly ran errands in purchasing raw materials for Sheyan. Hence, in his free time, Sheyan started making progress in his concoctions. His ‘Mantis gene-mix*’ managed to advance a stage. Presently, the fruits of his research was – Attack speed increase by 5%, movement speed increase by 5 points, accuracy decline by 1%. In critical moments, like pursuing or fleeing, that 5 points of movement speed bonus would come into play.

(TN:*this is the gene-mix he created himself back in ch 53 of Lotr world (vol.6)

On the eve of Fu Yuan’s first official voyage, Sheyan received notice from the realm to return. In view of that abnormal malfunction, turning 9 days inside the realm into more than a month, Sheyan embraced Sanzi and briefed him in full details; causing Sanzi to turn apprehensive as though they were going to part forever.

************

Everything went without saying after he returned to the realm. This time, Sheyan received the relevant notification not long after stepping into the realm.

[ Your current military rank: First Lieutenant. ]

[ You are attached to a Silver party: Party Ace. ]

[ Your current party includes: 1 Reserve-duty Growth-hunter, 2 contestants. ]

[ Your next adventuring world: Pirates of the Caribbean world. ]

[ World progression rate will be determined by the progress of party leader, no.1018. Related relationships of party members pertaining to this world may be preserved, or converted in other ways. ]

[ Citing an example: In Sheyan’s world progression, Alchemist Peigan had already been killed. However, by chance if Reef had a ‘Worshipped’ relationship with him, upon entering, though Peigan will remain dead, he would be substituted with someone else; possibly his son / wife / alchemy apprentice. The substitution will maintain a ‘Worshipped’ relationship with Reef, and provide roughly the same functionalities as Alchemist Peigan. ]

[ After evaluating, your main mission difficulty: B-. ] (Realm calculates party Ace as 1 Reserve-duty Growth-hunter and 2 contestants. The realm’s difficulty evaluation primarily factors in a contestant’s status, attribute points etc. It does not directly calculate an individual’s battle capabilities – this is to prevent contestants from mutilating themselves to lower their battle capability, and subsequently reducing the mission difficulty) ]

Sheyan couldn’t help but sigh deeply as he browsed through the list of notifications. His emotions were like a surging tide…..

“Formidable Ammand…..the wealthy Turtuga port*…..the semi-cursed Flying Dutchman crew ……the extravagant and elegant Captain Jack Sparrow….that mysterious yet invincible Little Lord Fokke!!! How can I forget such memories, how can I ever forget!”

(TN:*I have changed the name of the port in his first visit to this world to Turtuga port (with a U). Explanation will be given later. Just know that this port is different from the Tortuga port of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie)

“I was just a measly, unworthy and negligible Seaman in your eyes, but I’ve since matured to a stage I can meet you head on. The spirit of the Pirates of the Caribbean is always filled with danger, magic, valor and treasures. With my resurgence back into this world, I must uncover the greatest secrets of your world!”

At this moment, both Reef and Mogensha similarly received the shared notification from Sheyan. Reef* and Mogensha hadn’t gone through this world before. Therefore going by this logic, there wouldn’t be conflicts of mutual world progression. At present, Sheyan inquired about the status of Mogensha’s mission to mend his Silver grade spear. Instead, Mogensha sighed, and shook his head while he spoke.

(TN:*previously, Reef only made a brief appearance in this world but didn’t fully experience it)

(TN: World progression refers to the exploring rate/ development rate in the world)

(TN: My guess is the realm evaluated 2 contestants because Mogensha doesn’t have his silver sparta spear)

Chapter 477: Rescue? Pirate or Marine.

As it turns out, Mogensha only attained a ‘B+’ score after completing his mission, which also meant the realm tacitly approved the mending of his broken spear. However, the process of mending wasn’t instant, but required a definite time! ……exactly the same situation as when Sheyan appraised his ‘Hyrdralisk acidic gland’! As such, that equated to Brother Black losing the offensive might of his unrivalled silver storyline grade spear in the coming world!

Following that, the trio proceeded to enhance their unenhanced equipments and weapons by 2 stages; upholding the principle of ceasing their enhancements once encountering a failure. Besides, the failure rate of enhancement to ‘+1’ stage wasn’t considered high. This time, Sheyan was exceedingly lucky, probably due to good fortune sown by playing middlemen for Uncle Dasi. While enhancing his equipment, he went on an incredibly unexpected streak; enhancing his ‘Barbarous Crust Armour’ all the way to ‘+4’. Ultimately, the ‘+4’ stage granted him a bonus property, and he managed to draw a special rare property:

[ During combat with storyline characters, cooldown of the ‘Zergling Rush’ ability is zero and ability can be activated consecutively. During combat with contestants, this ability retains a 30 seconds cooldown. ]

Actually, there was a chance for drawing another special rare property for his armour; where his attack damage wouldn’t be lowered for the ‘Zergling Rush’ ability. Sadly, he didn’t draw it…..

With such extravagant enhancements, the defensive and offensive capabilities of the trio was raised by approximately 8-10%; a feat somewhat bound to happen eventually. Following that, they toured the realm marketplace to purchase their routine supplies of bandages and so on.

With the conclusion of the realm war, the prices of commodities once again plunged into an acceptable range. Nevertheless, the expenditure rate of party Ace was simply too frightening, and they were left with only adequate utility points in reserves – required points for certain ability casting (Reef’s ability requires). In the end, the trio once again sank into poverty.

When the countdown commenced, the trio assembled at those oval white glowing doors at the center of the nightmare realm. As before, those oval doors appeared like beautified large mouths devouring the lives of those who entered. Besides, who could guarantee they would make it back alive from the next world? Sheyan observed the surface ripples on those doors as others walked through it. He couldn’t help but feel an unknown rush of emotions as he breathed in before shoving himself in.

[ Initializing entry into the nightmare world… ]

[ Initializing data assimilation… ]

[ Initializing pairing of members….. ]

[ World selected. ]

[ Initializing characters and world assimilation… ]

[ Entering world….. ]

[ The music of an armed rebellion has begun humming. ]

[ Facing the music, a perplexed captain is on the verge of losing his freedom. ]

[ A mysterious curse looms over the treasures of the sea. ]

[ A curved apparition saber dances under the moonlight, echoing out anguished howls ]

[ The coexistence of death and fortune. ]

[ The companionship between risks and rewards. ]

[ Restrain your greed, my child. This is my only counsel! ]

[ Set sail!!! ]

*************

As his consciousness gradually recovered, Sheyan opened his eyes.

A pitch-darkness welcomed him; so dark, his fingers wouldn’t be visible as well.

Besides, Sheyan instantly felt that he had been bound, with a rugged cloth stuffed into his mouth.

This was the first time receiving such treatment upon entry into a nightmare world.

His keen senses issued a clear feedback. Not long ago, fishes had been stored here. The fishes weren’t stored once, as a dull fishy odour had permeated deep into the wood. Sheyan could never forget such familiarity.

His body was currently swaying; not because Sheyan was struggling, but the wooden planks beneath were violently tremoring. It was as though his entire frame was being rolled left and right along this wooden floor.

Yes, they were in the hold of a ship. Furthermore, they were being imprisoned here. Judging the shaky extent of the boat, it seemed like a storm was raging fiercely outside. Fortunately, the ropes and complicated knots binding the contestants were ordinary, and couldn’t impede a contestant’s capabilities. Under Sheyan’s freakish strength, he easily ripped apart the ropes.

Apart from Sheyan and his buddies, there were 7-8 other contestants present; all cursing while scrambling to get up. All of a sudden, following a sonorous boom, the entire ship tilted to the right.

The ship tilted at an angle exceeding 45 degrees, catching the totally unprepared contestants off guard; several of them collided into the ship’s wall while screaming ‘ahhh yaaa’! If they were ordinary folks, bums would inevitably form on their heads while dizzy spells wouldn’t be strange.

“I’m afraid the storms outside, is at least category 7!” Sheyan immediately called out his judgement based on his plentiful experience at sea. “This ship is probably being pursued, while its aggressors are blasting cannons from the rear!”

“What is this damned place?”

At this moment, a contestant bellowed angrily. Sheyan watched as he clenched his fist, and pounded heavily against the ship’s wall. With his crackling fist booming in, the wall instantly emitted splintering sounds; distinct cracks could be seen.

Sheyan shouted aghastly in his head. One must understand, he had spent more of his life on board ships than on ground. One glance, and he could already fathom they were trapped inside the ship’s hold that was beneath sea surface! Once this fool smashed through the wall, undoubtedly, the bunch of contestants would turn into drowned rats!

With Sheyan’s experience, he knew the flavour of submerging into the sea now wasn’t a good one. Another fit of violent tremors rocked the ship once again. Spittin phlegm out his mouth, that contestants revealed a lethal glint in his eyes. Roaring crazily, he raised his fist.

“Stop!” Sheyan cried out. Instead, that brute revealed a trace of disdain; who the f*** are you, why should I take orders from you. He pummeled his fist heavily against the wall again.

Kacha! Without hesitation, a dent appeared on the ship’s wall; leaving cracks like a spiderweb in its wake. Finally, it bluntly burst into splinters. That brute hadn’t even retracted his disdainful glance, as an insane gush of seawater flooded against him; causing him to lose his balance and slumped with his buttocks crashing onto the floor.

Chain reactions rapidly ensued. Under the ginormous pressure of rushing seawater, defined cracks started spreading from the nexus of that shattered hole; before swiftly bursting into splinters. Sheyan immediately rallied Brother Black and Reef over. Under such a state, it would be impossible to plug the holes. Sheyan then rammed against the besiding wall with his elbow. Kacha! Clamorous cracks resounded, as the entire wall crumbled inwards. Seawater flooded in vehemently, irrigating the entire ship’s hold in no time.

Reef could only feel himself being weighed down rapidly, as an icy chill soaked his entire body in that instance. A surge of seawater crashed in, and directly submerged him deep underneath! Fortunately, Sheyan was gripping onto his back, as the two forced their way out and swam into the sea.

Caught totally unprepared, Reef drank in several mouthfuls of seawater; tasting that insipid fishy flavour. Swinging round to observe, he realized he was surrounding by somewhat extraordinary thick bubbles. Though floating along the boundless sea, he felt his senses tingling as though he was in another world. The pitch-black sea water reeked of blood and smoke. One could imagine the incredibly intense naval warfare that had befallen this place!

Debris of fragmented railings, floating unknowns, casks, stools and overturned masts drifted along the sea surface. Sheyan even noticed a cosmetic mirror bobbling while facing upwards. There were even ancient china rosewood dividers broken into halves, shoes, and pipes floating around. If those ancient china rosewood dividers could be delivered to the London marketplace, it could even fetched exorbitant prices of 2,000 pounds.

At present, at a region 20 metres into the distant, they could faintly hear the rumbling of cannons. Occasionally, flames lacerated against the thick fumes. Amidst the chaos, one could faintly observe two fleets berthed together, entangled in mutual slaughters. Evidently, they were at the climax of their naval boarding battling. Casting one’s vision afar into the horizon, one could see from the gaps between the fog and masses, a dull scarlet glow contaminating half the skies.

Distributed nearby Sheyan and Reef, apart from massive debris of casks, ruins, and wreckage, were also several 10 metre long single-masted tiny sailboats. These unarmed tiny boats were probably lifeboats, but the majority were in tatters; some combusting with flames atop. Naturally, fighting had concluded here recently. At this point, Brother Black finally popped up from the water surface, gasping widely for breath.

After bringing his two party members for a swim, they climbed up a tiny boat roughly dozens of metres away; gentle embers were still licking the boat. Corpses were sprawled everywhere on this boat. Amongst the corpses, some were british marines clad in red and white stripes; while the others were vicious pirates dressed in shabby clothing. Most of the corpses met their ends after entangling and perishing together; obviously attempting to take each other down with themselves, during the intense naval boarding battling.

The trio rapidly extinguished the embers. They then discovered that surrounding them within this vast sea, were many pirates and marines still struggling after falling overboard. Even those inside the water, remained wrestling each other.

Though the marines were equipped with relatively superior equipments, the fighting courage of the pirates outstripped them. The pirates knew of the hanging consequences after being captured; hence, they strived to drag their foes down to hell with them!

At this moment, Mogensha and Reef simultaneously received a notification from their nightmare imprint.

[ Please rescue at least 10 marines or pirates, to determine your selected allegiance ]

TN: note that for this pirate of the caribbean world, author combines elements from the game Uncharted Waters 4. Therefore, the magnitude of certain specifics are magnified in this pirate of the caribbean world. For example: the sizes of ships (how many masts it has), the number of pirates on a ship, currency, some game elements fantasy stuffs etc.

TN: Important terms to note:

Broadside battles (long range battles) – ships facing their broadsides to each other and firing cannons at a distance.

Naval Boarding battles (close combat battles) – to come up against, or alongside, an enemy ship to attack by placing men aboard the enemy ship. The goal of boarding is to capture, or destroy, the enemy vessel.

Chapter 478: Set sail!

Oh, why didn’t Sheyan receive a notification like them? Alright, to one that had attained a ‘Respected (3113/6000)’ reputation amongst the pirates, and one hailed as the Third Mate* of of the legendary pirate ship, The Flying Dutchman, his allegiance had been sworn long ago. Moreover, the label of a pirate had long been etched deep into his soul.

(TN: *Third Mate is the same term as Third Officer, i decided to change it as it would be more suitable in pirate context.)

By now, Sheyan had equipped the hidden title – Pirate Ringleader*. Due to the hidden title bestowing him with strength +2 and physique +2, he had to unwield an equipment to avoid a boundary breakthrough. Nevertheless, the property of bolstering all his party members’ offensive capabilities within a 30 metre radius, was enjoyed by Reef and Brother Black; hence, it was a worthy sacrifice.

(TN:*He acquired this ch 20 of the first PotC world (vol 3))

With Sheyan’s guidance, he and Reef proceeded to assist in rescuing the pirates. Instead, Mogensha resorted to heinous deeds, which was obviously, to commence a massacre! With the advantage of his shooting range, he gunned down the marines paddling in the water from aboard. This was practically an effortless target practice to him.

In this manner, not only could Brother Black receive an abundance of reputation (Sheyan and Reef naturally received a portion), but he could shamelessly hamper the contestants that pledged their allegiance to the british navy! Preventing foes from chasing up right at the get go, this self-delightful act was undoubtedly one that would anger even the heavens.

Very quickly, furious curses of several contestants drifted over. In spite of that, Mogensha remained aloof as he focused on gunning down the floating british marines. By now, the contestants had learned from him; following suit in a more glorious fashion. They didn’t attack marines but directly assaulted Brother Black, intending to strangle this unlawful brat.

But at that instant, Reef raised his hand, as a transparent ‘Faith-guard’ slithered over Mogensha’s body. Sparks scattered as the opponent’s assaults volleyed against the ‘Faith-guard’. Instead, their damage were totally absorbed by Reef’s outstanding ability.

At present, the individual combat prowess of the trio could be considered as near the pinnacle of this world. What more, they were additionally boosted by their Silver prestige party? In Mogensha’s perspective, long range attacks from other contestants didn’t prove to be a huge threat. Withstanding the long range firepower pressure, Brother Black proceeded to cleanse the british marines who were within his effective range in an orderly fashion. He then lit a cigar for himself, before he started retaliating against the contestants!

Following the fiery tongues spat out from his Golden AK, woeful groans echoed through the darkness. Regrettably, as it was impossible to rapidly dispatch a contestant, that brat who was on the point of demise was rescued by another. Besides, picking up dropped keys between firefights over the sea would prove challenging. Thus, Mogensha didn’t feel very regretful.

The present Mogensha to other long range combatants, was akin to the first time he squared off with Eros in the previous world; delivering an overwhelming suppression onto them. Furthermore, Mogensha’s ‘Beastly Instincts’ was an innate ability exceptionally suited to chaotic battles, resulting in an impetus of him alone suppressing several foes.

At this moment, he could faintly hear the terrified shrieks from the opposing distant.

“The enemy has encroached upon us!!”

“What approached us?”

“I swear on my necklace, I didn’t see any hostiles swimming towards us!”

“Heavens, what is this creature. Shit, its attacks are impeding my movement speed!”

“A summoner?”

“Quick slay it!”

"...."

“…..”

Naturally, while Brother Black unleashed his bullets, he successfully activated the ability of his newly upgraded silver storyline grade ‘Viperwolf’s Beard’; summoning out those nasty alien lifeforms to pounce ravenously against his foes.

Caught unaware, those brats were obviously disadvantaged, and were nastily rummaged by the summoned viperwolf spirit. Fortunately, naval warfare was fought over an expansive sea area. The trio merely colonized a territory that currently floated with the most survivors, while the surrounding contestants could only submit to their circumstances; obediently distancing themselves to accomplish their mission, submissively yielding this sea territory.

By now, the trio had already rescued a total of 30 plus pirates. After being rescued, these uncouth and ugly pirates became evidently rowdy, as they started to brawl mutually amongst themselves atop the boat. Yet after Sheyan swept his incisive gaze through them, they immediately sensed a tremendously suffocating oppression; instantly turning well-behaved. With every vocal command Sheyan issued, those pirates immediately shivered with austerity, and implemented their tasks efficiently.

Mogensha and Reef turned a blind eye towards this rather common scene. Except, the other contestants who had pledged their allegiance with the pirates looked on with amazement; because the pirates they rescued were like fiends, lying brazenly on deck while cursing profanities whenever they wished….just by noticing the spiteful gazes of these vile pirates, they knew the pirates held them with utter disregard. Don’t even talk about the pirates labouring for them.

When those 30 plus pirates settled down, the trio suddenly realized a large swarm of finger sized fishes swimming towards them. These fishes had slightly phosphorescent scales. When the fishes swam to the broadside of the boat, they congregated together to form tiny words.

(TN’s IMPORTANT NOTE: This Tortuga (特图加) is a different Tortuga island from his first pirate of the Caribbean experience world’s Turtuga (土图加). Both changed to english is Tortuga. HOWEVER, this current Tortuga (特图加) should be the one in the pirate of the caribbean movie. The Turtuga (土图加) in the previous world, should be a made up port by author. To prevent confusion, I will address the first world’s one as Turtuga (土图加) with a U instead.

TN: note that for this pirate of the caribbean world, author combines elements from the game Uncharted Waters 4, and brings in a lot of magic aspects to this world. Therefore, the magnitude of certain specifics are magnified in this pirate of the caribbean world, and magic is quite a big portion here. For example: the sizes of ships (how many masts it has), the number of pirates on a ship, currency, some game elements fantasy stuffs etc.

Chapter 479: Great naval warfare!

Both Reef and Mogensha conscientiously read the list of notifications. Not permitted to bring out ‘The Diary of Morgan Fokke’ during his previous stint, Sheyan was now exceedingly curious of the secrets within in. Upon his resurgence into this world, he eagerly began reading its contents.

Yet cold water was instantly poured over his enthusiasm……this diary was sealed with an unfathomable unique code! It was necessary for Sheyan to seek out one who could unseal and decipher it.

At this moment, Reef abruptly inquired.

“Mogensha, as your first time entering this world, shouldn’t the realm have arranged a proper identity? But why were we all bound up in that ship’s hold?”

Brother Black’s countenance was extremely sulky.

“This damned realm actually arranged my identity as a black slave. That ship we were on, was a smuggling ship specially used by pirates to transport their plundered loot!”

Reef shrugged his shoulders and burst into laughter.

“Buddy. In the past, I abruptly infiltrated into this battlefield here, and abruptly left. Hence, I wasn’t very involved in this world. In actual fact, my condition isn’t better off than yours. My identity is an unlucky prisoner of war, even worse, I am a captive that isn’t even worth extorting from. Therefore, our arranged identities are pretty much similar…”

After Sheyan overhead them, he couldn’t resist the urge to investigate his history. In the end, he discovered the identity story the realm had arranged for him – [ Ever since the Flying Dutchman crew suffered a heinous curse, you mysteriously disappeared. Many wondered if you acquired untold treasures before vanishing without a trace; returning to your origins of the mysterious east…. ]

Reef was presently scouting out their surroundings, before he whispered to Sheyan.

“Boss, our mast is already wrecked, I wonder how far is Tortuga port from here?”

Sheyan reached two fingers into his mouth and whistled. Immediately, two pirates marched over.

“Anyone care to tell me, where is our current location?”

The first pirate rushed over, answering with fear and trepidation.

“Lord, that be 17 nautical miles from Rieste.”

Sheyan nodded and turned to Reef.

“If the sea map I obtained last time isn’t wrong, then we would approximately need a day of journey to reach Tortuga port. Of course, I am referring to the speed of this boat. Weird, but….forget it, let’s not care about that first.”

Reef heaved a sigh of relief and replied.

“We have rather ample time eh.”

Sheyan chuckled loudly.

“Oh, no, my comrade. We don’t have ample time at all!”

Ever since returning to the sea, Sheyan could feel an exceptional carefreeness in him. The ocean air he deeply inhaled carried a tinge of fishiness, allowing his thoughts to become exceptionally clear! Gazing towards the not too distant climatic naval warfare, he clenched his fist tightly as a passionate blaze flared in his pupils.

“Have you guys not considered the significance of the realm throwing us into this grand naval battlefield right from the start, and wanting us to rescue the leftovers?”

“Mogensha’s eyes sparkled as he attempted.

“What you mean is….could it be to allow capable contestants to participate in the fighting?”

Sheyan nodded and replied.

“That’s correct. I can gradually sense that every world hosts a specific theme in accordance to its main plot.”

“For example, the main theme of the Starship Trooper world would be based on ‘interests’. For the sake of personal interests, the humans and arachnids wage war. For the sake of interests, arachnids turn on arachnids! As for the main theme of the Avatar World, it should be based on ‘guarding and destruction’. Therefore, what should the main theme of the Pirates of the Caribbean world be? It obviously is risks and freedom! If we can follow the main theme of this world, like a boat following the current, then naturally – the right approach saves time and leads to better results!”

“Therefore, we should take risks as of now! To Participate in the battle! With a definite reputation and status amongst the pirates, we now currently lack maritime capabilities. Thus, our aim should be to conjure up a plan to steal a ship, and reap sufficient benefits and meritorious contributions during the battle. Then with overwhelming and impressive grandeur, we shall allow Tortuga to grace our esteemed presence!”

Listening to Sheyan phrasing in such a manner, Reef muttered to himself before depressedly announcing.

“But, both Mogensha and I do not possess any experience in naval warfare……I don’t know if we have ability to do so.”

Sheyan burst into laughter, as he forcefully slapped against the shoulders of his two comrades.

“In long distance naval warfare, AK here is equivalent to 10 guided cannons! During naval boarding battles, Reef you are equivalent to a hundred lads with clubs!”

As he spoke, Sheyan headed straight for an elevated platform of the boat. Clapping his hands, he rallied the attention of the pirates to him. Then, he purposely displayed his worn ‘+5 Monstrous Fighting Spirit’, and pointed to himself before roaring loudly.

“Do y’all recognize me? You guys better answer this question; if not, I will toss you bunch of scoundrels and scums who should be hung on the executioner docks back into the sea!”

A bald pirate with yellowish stained teeth examined Sheyan’s accessory closely, before exclaiming in horror.

“Sir, if seawater hasn’t spoiled me eyes, that accessory be the treasure that Viking Scarface Harry be fond of. But It merely appears like a replica, I cannot confirm.”

Sheyan laughed heartily in response.

“Your eyes aren’t bad, old dog.”

While he spoke, Sheyan tossed a bottle of rum towards him.

“That is your prize for guessing. You are correct, this is indeed something I plundered from the one named Scarface Harry.”

That bald pirate hastily caught the bottom of rum, and excitedly poured its contents into his mouth. Then, he released a sigh of utter satisfaction.

“Sir, your generosity be as vast as the caribbean sea!”

No doubt, pirates indulged themselves with only dining, wining, whoring and gambling; not a great disparity as compared to wastrels in china. Their plundered wealth would be squandered on intimacy with prostitutes of the caribbean sea, or indulging in the drunkenness of rum. Witnessing someone else receiving a benefit, another pirate instead stood forward.

“A sailor with yellow skin….be possessin’ such daunting strength. Could it be, ye be Seaman Yan from the east, the one wanted by Ammand?”

Sheyan reached out a finger, and earnestly pronounced.

“Son, you are correct. This bottle of rum goes to you.”

By now, the remaining pirates were all frantically competing to call out.

“Seaman Yan from the east! I heard of yer name before! It be rumoured that betrayin’ Ammand! Ye bloody received Davy Jones’s appreciation and became his Third Mate!”

“Don’t yer spout rubbish! Aye, monsters be the crew of the Flying Dutchman! The sire before us looks exactly like us!”

“Even Blackbeard had mentioned yer name before. Back in Hujia port, I overhead someone sayin’ while searching for his vile sword, Blackbeard even received yer assistance.”

“Blimey, might I be standin’ on the same boat as a fabled character?”

"....."

“…”

Even though Sheyan’s charm was mind blowingly low, to these low-tier pirates, a +1 legend level in combination with a ‘Respected’ reputation, was sufficient to leave them dazzled and amazed.

Sheyan was obviously pleased with such a feedback. Thus, he blatantly raised both hands and roared.

“Aye, just as what you can see, my current situation is perilous. I have neither ship nor crew. However, I don’t wish to flee to Tortuga with my tail behind my legs! You guys should know what kind of treatment a miser with few shillings would receive anywhere!”

“But now, let me tell you a wonderful news. I don’t care what you have done in the past, how capable you are doesn’t matter. As long as you have a determined heart, I will lead you on the path of riches and victory! Place your hands at your heart and tell me, do you wish to smack that scurvy owner behind the bar counter, with a sack of golden coins? Do you desire tossing a sack of golden coins onto the beds of money-grabbing whores?”

A clamorous upheaval resounded from the pirates beneath. Then, a taller and sturdier built one-eyed pirate shouted despondently.

“Aye, but where be dem riches and victories? We be surrounded by ruined boats and the freezin’ sea.”

Sheyan pointed his hand towards the distant battlefield, the field enveloped by smokes and blasts of cannons.

“Right there, right ahead!! Do you have the balls to follow my comrades and I to steal victory? Answer me!!!”

The gaze of that one-eyed pirate flickered, but he replied with a doubtful tone.

“Follow ye?”

With a crash, Sheyan unloaded a pile of 70-80 gold coins, before he sincerely announced.

“Aye! Follow behind our backs! Do you think I’m joking? Go recall a little. In the past, back on the Bell and Mug, that spanish fleet was squashed by my crew of twenty old, sickly and aged pirates! Even that Decaying Undead met its demise in my hands! Right now, who is willing to follow me shall be granted two golden guineas; but cowards fearing death can scram while it’s still early!”

Instantly, some pirates below started whispering to each other, verifying the battle achievements of Sheyan. In the end, the result was still very satisfactory to Sheyan. Pirates were fellows unafraid of death. In the end, only ten pirates decided to leave. After being stimulated by the gold coins and rum, the staying pirates removed their shirts and cheered in excitement.

Halting here, this lifeboat they were on was truly too ragged. Thus, Sheyan and Mogensha both tried their utmost to search for another relatively intact boat, minimally, one that could at least set sail.

(TN: I will try to inject some pirate flavour into conversations, but don’t expect much because it is rather taxing and very very time consuming to consistently try to attempt that)

(TN’s IMPORTANT REMINDER This Tortuga (特图加) is a different Tortuga from the first world’s Turtuga (土图加). Both changed to english is tortuga. HOWEVER, the tortuga (特图加) of this current world should be the one in the pirate of the caribbean movie. The Turtuga (土图加) in the previous world, should be a made up port by author. To prevent confusion, I will address the first world’s one as Turtuga (土图加) with a U instead.

Chapter 480: Trying to rob me?

The reason for needing a good sailboat, was due to the lifeboats not possessing any cannons, while Sheyan’s crew was merely an interim assemblement of pirates. They had no qualifications whatsoever to engage in shuddering naval warfare with others. Hence, their only solution was to be like a fish in troubled waters; seizing the chaotic naval boarding clashes between pirate ships and British Royal Navy fleets, to swiftly sneak up to their ships and act while both sides were suffering.

In theory, this method sounded rather simple. However in reality, it was arduously challenging and influenced by ever changing variables.

Currently, Sheyan was relying on Reef, who could promote into the realms of a Growth-hunter at any time. He was the only trump card that could hold the frontlines and absorb the impending firepower! Moreover, this relatively easier world undoubtedly fuelled Sheyan’s resolution in taking this risk. All of a sudden, Brother Black, who had the best eyesight, pointed towards the north and yelled.

“There’s a nearly intact lifeboat over there! At least, its mast and sail is intact.”

Sheyan gestured, inciting the flock of pirates to spring into action; yelling at each other as they foraged for several tattered planks, and begun rowing towards that direction.

However, Sheyan’s crew wasn’t the only one fixated on that particular boat. Following their single-masted boat rafting slowly towards it, several other individuals were also eyeing it. Those individuals may not be planning to charge into the battlefield, but merely to obtain a fully intact boat to increase their probability of reaching Tortuga port.

Nevertheless, under Sheyan’s command, his crew ultimately snatched towards the destination first, and occupied the vacant lifeboat. His crew of pirates excitedly pranced and cheered about the lifeboat, while releasing its sail smoothly; preparing to advance without waiting for Sheyan’s orders.

Yet at this moment, two lifeboats carrying british marines came rowing over; one on the left, and one on the right. The red and white uniforms of those british marines were starkly striking, and the two waves of contestants clearly harboured ill intent.

Naturally, Brother Black exhibited his supremacy at this instant. Utilizing the far effective range and lethal damage of his ‘SN-9 Wasp’ pistol, he rained down lethal damages from afar. His 49 agility boundary demonstrated its superior oppression. Although three other long range combatants engaged in retaliation, with Reef guarding, Mogensha remained calm and fired intermittently. Before it could sail a hundred metres in, one of the lifeboats was decimated into ruins! As for the british marines on board, he had slayed 7-8 of them!

When the other lifeboat arrived, it had to face burst shots from Mogensha’s AK. His high frequency bombardment repeatedly conjured out viperwolf spirits at the opposing lifeboat. Those savage creatures were a tremendous pain in their arse, but the three contestants on board remained stubborn in their attempt to approach, as they counter fired repeatedly. Yet in the end, their lifeboat quickly halted thirty metres away from Sheyan’s crew; not a single sound of life remained.

This time, Brother Black refused to permit them to flee. Displaying a full plethora of killing methods, he gunned those three stubborn contestants. Despite that, only a single blood key was dropped, of which he casually tossed to Sheyan; besides, Sheyan hadn’t accomplished his military mission yet. Witnessing the formidability of the trio, the originally sullen pirates unanimously cheered as their morale resonated greatly in response.

However at this instant, Brother Black suddenly discovered another lifeboat looming it like a black spectre; borrowing the camouflage of the thick fog and wreckages. That lifeboat carried fiendish looking pirates, while silently encroaching within a 30 metres radius of them. Although, that lifeboat similarly carried pirates, malicious intent could be seen from their conduct.

Mogesha’s pupils instantly contracted, as he aimed his rifle in preparation to fire. Instead, Sheyan stalled him and issued insipidly.

“I intentionally allowed them to approach, don’t you feel that our present crew is rather lacking?”

When both lifeboats drifted within 10 metres of each other, violent yells erupted from the opposite side. Soon after, a dozen plus grappling ropes were flung over, and hooked against the broadside of Sheyan’s boat. Afterwards, a group of pirates howled fanatically as they swung across.

These pirates were clearly a tier above Sheyan’s current underlings. Most of them were half-naked, while the rest were dressed in terribly tattered clothes. The hostile pirates appeared rather strong, and were equipped with sharp weapons. Some of the charging pirates were biting daggers, while some had thick eyeshadows on their single eyes. As they fought, the pirates bared their rotten yellowish teeth; teeth with receding gum as though their skeletons were decomposing!

As Sheyan beheld his uninvited truculent guests, he realized they boasted of a quality superior to his group of intermingled pirates. According to Sheyan’s reckoning, even if these pirates were of the ordinary tier, they could still be compared to the elites of the Bell and Mug previously.

Besides, Sheyan couldn’t be the only one bestowed with luck and opportunities. It appears that this stealthily encroaching contestant, was also not a simple rookie of this world. Moreover, that contestant should have had already established a basic footing in this world.

Signalling a gesture to Reef to hold the frontlines, a glimmer twinkled on his neck as he once again attained the summit of 49 points of strength. Striding forward in large steps, he began charging towards the incoming flock of pirates! At present, a disheveled hair pirate squawked wildly, as he raised his hatchet to chop towards Sheyan’s head!

With keen eyes and rapid hands, Sheyan seized the pirate’s wrist and squeezed it tightly!

Kacha! Kacha! Crackings emitted from the pirate’s wrist, as he released a shrilling groan.

Pang! His hatchet then crashed onto the deck. Sheyan grabbed his neck, before hurling him towards the nearby few pirates with ease. Instantaneously, a group of pirates tumbled into a mess.

Prying on the blindspot of Sheyan’s back, two hostile pirates raised their broadswords and thrusted forth. Sheyan spun round, as the two broadswords stabbed into his chest, but failed to pierce even an inch into his flesh. Instead, the broadswords were clamped forcefully by his muscles; incapable of neither retreating not advancing.

The eyes of both pirates popped largely, as though they had just seen a ghost. With horrified shouts, they desired to toss aside their weapons and flee. Instead, Sheyan reached out both hands, and seized their heads; one right and one left. Then, he smashed them together, allowing the two pirates to stagger around intoxicatedly in circles, before slumping to the ground.

Meanwhile, Reef who had invaded into the onslaught of enemies had unleashed his ‘Shattering Cardiac Roar’. Instantly, with him as the nexus, the concentrated mass of pirates who had successfully boarded were engulfed.

Within a split second, a dozen pirates were submerged into a speed decline state after Reef’s roar, as they stumbled forward dizzily as though they were seasick.

Though the pirates of Sheyan’s side did not possess reliable strength, they still possessed instincts of ganking fallen enemies. In a flurry; roars, digging of eyes, hooking ears, immortals plucking peaches, punches, kicks, worthless maneuvering broke out, as they beated those unlucky victims into a pulp!

The opposing contestants were stupefied as they spectated; many of their members hadn’t even attained 40 points in their highest attribute, how would they even imagine the prospect of encountering such valiant freaks here? The closest comparison would be this – when the trio encountered Prince Stalo’s gang back in the Avatar world. They were seemingly oppressed in all aspects in raw power!

At this moment, seeing that the state of affair was going awry, a contestant on the opposite boat roused his arms fiercy as he shouted.

“Where do your guts come from? Where does your fighting spirit hail from? The bravery of the Vikings be with you all! Aye, sons of vikings; may the enemies tremble under the indomitable name of pirate Captain Lasaike!”

Hearing that contestant’s rally, the hostile pirates swelled up with courage as they howled crudely while charging fiercely. That shout was evidently an impressive buff, and it seemed like the reputation of that so called ‘Lasaike’ wasn’t low at all.

Facing the dangerous counterattack of this so called ‘Lasaike’, Sheyan sneered. He shot out his hand and seized the foremost invading pirate, before leaping towards an elevated spot. Then, he single handedly raised this pirate ringleader up high, and bellowed thunderously towards his own pirates.

“Tell those fools. Whom are they contending against???!”

The pirate underlings of Sheyan instantly roared with ludicrous adrenaline.

“You smugs dare offend the dignity of the Flying Dutchman! Davy Jones will constrict yer souls with his tentacles!!!”

“Aye, Seaman Yan from the east will carve yer eyeballs out, and stuff them in yer testicles~, Argghhhahaha.”

“Scurvy dogs, have ye not heard of the legendary warships?”

"....."

“…..”

No doubt, the prestige of the three legendary pirate ships had long been engraved deep into people’s hearts, and spoken with true terror during storytelling at taverns! Compared to the brilliance of the Flying Dutchman, that one hailed as the ‘Sons of Vikings’, Lasaike, was totally reduced to a nameless small clown!

The morale of the raiding pirates instantly plunged, as their eyes beamed with horror. Sheyan easily shoved his captured pirate into the area congested with the most people, before he bellowed loudly.

“Trying to rob me??? HAHAHA! Do you really wish to contend against me, the Third Mate of the Flying Dutchman? Do you dare to make me, Seaman Yan from the east, your enemy??? Even the mighty viking, Scarface Harry, was slain by my hands, even the Voodoo cult’s Decaying Undead was trampled by me! You lot truly have a death wish!”

The fighting spirit of the raiding pirates waned once again, while private whispers could be heard.

“Look at that yellow skin, he be truly Seaman Yan from the mysterious east!!”

“Me ears have heard before, though the crew of the Flyin’ Dutchman suffered a devilish curse, they remain half a man. Once in awhile, they would come ashore to engage in dealings….but it be fabled, the position of Third Mate remains permanently empty!”

Chapter 481: Dashing into the battlefield

Graced with such a wonderful opportunity, Sheyan charged straight towards the opposing boat! His shouts seemingly shaking the sea.

“Lasaike! Get out, a mighty viking wouldn’t lead his men from the rear. Ye shivering scum that cowers inside the hold, the glorious sanctity of us pirates be tarnished by men like you. Only a woman’s corset and gown are fitting for you!”

When the pirates ahead of Lasaike heard Sheyan’s words, they glanced towards him with fright and dismay; spontaneously opening out a way as they trembled.

Witnessing such a scene, a defensive persona contestant stepped forward; snarling aloud as he charged straight at Sheyan while opening fire with his shotgun. Instead, Sheyan endured the rumbling booms from his shotgun, as he rushed in and smashed three punches in; knocking that contestant tumbling away with a mouthful of blood. Striking the iron while hot, Sheyan then lunged in like a fierce tiger at Lasaike.

Naturally, those contestants aboard weren’t idle, but similarly razed assaults at Sheyan. Except, the assaults of those contestants were influenced by the 40% realm regulation, while Sheyan had nearly 49 points of physique in damage reduction! Ultimately, Sheyan was reinforced by his newly awakened innate ability ‘Stronghold’!

Hence, when their attacks landed onto Sheyan, they were deemphasized by Sheyan’s resistive blocking! They were totally incapable of threatening Sheyan’s life. Seeing the situation was going out of hand, Lasaike immediately jumped overboard and fled! His swimming speed in the water was unbelievably fast, and even Brother Black couldn’t make it in time to slay him; he probably had a substantial boost in swimming movement speed, from a certain equipment or an ability.

With him escaping, the rest of the contestants obviously wouldn’t persist in defending, and respectively fled. Meanwhile, those raiding pirates who had realized their bosses were actually cowards, had tears flowing as their morale crumbled.

At present, Lasaike was feeling immensely vexed in his heart, as though he wanted to vomit blood. Those pirates were recruited through his painstaking efforts and resources during his previous stint in this world. He was hoping to rely on them to reap a fortune now. Hence, when he noticed the manpower and boat on Sheyan’s side, he had planned to kill them and commandeer their boat; before employing the surrendered pirates as cannon fodder. Little did he expect, an affair he deemed in the bag, would actually transpire into his head knocking into an iron board – a molten hot iron board!

Since their leaders had abandoned them, the remaining pirates lost all fighting spirit; offering little resistance before they surrendered. As for those surrendered british marines, they naturally faced a fate akin to being delivered to a hanging post. On the contrary, those fearsome pirates were given a new lease of life. In this current era, skilled pirates were always welcomed, and yielding was as simple as changing ships.

Sheyan observed the crestfallen pirates who had surrendered, before he rudely called out.

“You scums and cutthroats, bunch of ignorant foolish donkeys! You should show gratitude to my leniency, if not necks shall be slashed and thrown into the sea – your one and only ending! Kneel and kiss the deck in submission, pledge your allegiance to me; or the fishes of the sea will feast on snacks tonight!!”

Listening to Sheyan’s exclamation, contestant Lasaike who had stealthily hid away almost vomited blood again! These pirates were elites and confidants he had laboriously gathered previously. He was originally hoping Sheyan would only plunder the ‘meat’, while leaving the ‘soup’ behind. Yet with Sheyan’s exclamation, he was clearly desiring to seize everything with one net.

At this moment, Lasaike only hope that a single pirate would step forward in loyalty for him, facing death with equanimity. At least, this would allow his heart a sliver of solace. Sadly, the pirates of the caribbean world seemingly didn’t understand the term ‘loyalty’. As Sheyan’s words faded, all the pirates instantly fell to their knees and kissed the ship’s deck.

Under Sheyan’s sonorous rebuking and commands, the adequate reserves of pirates swiftly bustled into action; engaging in rebuilding works for the nearly intact boat mast. Furthermore, they tossed heavy objects overboard, allowing this lighter boat to sail faster.

After a brief chaotic operation, Sheyan begun arranging his crew with rapid precision. Being relatively gifted in his field, the orderliness of the boat soon transformed neat and tidy; while the pirates became increasingly efficient when managing the boat.

Approximately 10 minutes had elapsed from drifting along the sea. Sheyan had mostly grasped the state of each and every pirate on board; understanding clearly who were adept at combat and who could operate the boat well. He commenced an incessant issuance of orders.

“Smartly there, hurry up! Lads, busty arse whores are beckoning for you lot!”

“Report to me the draft of the boat, Cuiji. Stop being a slow nut, you really wish to be fed to the sharks?”

“Pull those darn hooks up, you only have ten seconds!”

“Aye, that’s the way. Just like adding oil to door hinges, it’s starting to flow smoothly. I’m glad you lot haven’t turned rusty.”

“Full sail ahead, course west!”

Flutter! Following the unfurling of the thick sailcloth, the strong eastern winds instantly swelled the sail. The crew of this single-masted boat immediately clutched onto firm objects, before a pulling inertia overwhelmed their bodies; like being in a sports car and stepping on the accelerator.

Neither Brother Black nor Reef had experience in this aspect, thus they lost their balance at the same time. Instead, the former casually did a frontward flip before landing nimbly onto the ground, while the latter stomped his feet down ferociously; causing the solid wooden deck to emit pressurizing creaking sounds. Then, Reef played it down by successfully gripping onto the mast.

One of the newly recruited pirates on the lookout shouted.

“Hillho! Cap’n, there be a battle right ahead!”

Sheyan resolutely declared.

“Aye, we’re headed for that battle!”

A minute after their conversation, this tiny sailboat carried a tryhard loftiness as it protruded into the northern region of the naval battlefield. A dense smog previously separating their vision from the specifics, had now cleared up.

This naval battlefield was panoramically vast, with minimally close to 40 enormous medieval styled ships; large 5-masted ships or even 7-masted ships, were locked in desperate contentions!

Around the perimeter of those enormous ships, were an innumerable mess of medium-sized 3-masted ships tangled in battle; the rumbling of cannons, and slaughtering screams were deafening to behold! During naval warfare, seizing the wind direction was a tremendous life-and-death affair. Hence, the battlefield was in a state of complete disarray, with the extent of fighting spreading out expansively.

Those humongous wooden monsters clashed vehemently, erupting with flames of collision, smoke, blood, and massacres. With every fleeting second, masses of humans perished on the battlefield. The weight of a single second was stretched to the extremes of limits.

The overflowing sounds composed of complacent ludicrous laughters, coupled with blood-curdling screams; instead, most of it belonged to the crackle of flames when devouring wood, ropes and the sails of ships.

Though the pirates occupied superiority in numbers, the situation was disastrous due to the intermingled mix of poor and skilled pirates. Many pirate ships were restructured merchant ships, terribly lacking cannon artillery. Some pirate ships hadn’t gone through maintenance in years, where their sails were densely riddled with self-mending; even the gales of the sea would suffice to rip them apart!

In stark comparison, the warships of the British Royal Navy were mostly unified; ships appearing like multi-functional military Scandinavian ships, could be found everywhere. While inferior ones minimally appeared like medium-sized ships of the eastern seas. Their ships mostly differed only in transporting capacity, while their marines were vastly superior to the pirates; in terms of training, discipline and equipments.

Their only aspect found wanting, was an indomitable spirit to face death unlike the pirates. Whenever a situation of a naval boarding battle occurred, they frequently wouldn’t be a match for the pirates.

Sheyan’s selected position of entry into the battlefield was relatively strategic, and resembled an incisive saber rapidly thrusting 7 inches deep into a venomous serpent! Their current position, was coincidentally far behind the frontlines of firefight of the two parties; while strategic in the sense, that the pirates would discover them at first notice. On the contrary, the british navy fleets had their backs towards them.

Concurrently, Sheyan’s ears rung with the notification:

[ Verifying status… ]

Chapter 482: A fierce naval boarding

As he browsed through the notifications, Sheyan couldn’t help but reminisce about the previous historic storyline battlefield he had experienced. Glancing at Reef, the both of them chuckled after making eye contact. They couldn’t help but sigh.

During the first ‘Destruction of the Paragon Fleets’ battlefield, both parties weren’t aware of each other’s existence. Furthermore, they could indistinctively be counted as rivals. In the end, Sheyan had acquired a tremendous opportunity, while Reef had fell short of his goals by a sliver.

Fast forward to now, both parties were comrades-in-arms, sharing life and death together while striving for a mutual goal.

Fate had really worked in a miraculous way.

Upon arriving here, Sheyan naturally selected to enter the battlefield without a second thought. A list of notification projected again.

[ History Storyline Battlefield: Destruction of Paragon Fleet (Internal Strife). ]

[ Your allegiance is pledged with the pirates. ]

[ For this battle, the leading character on the side of the pirates, is the Pirate Lord of the Mediterranean Sea, Captain Chevalle. ]

[ Fight! For riches and freedom! ]

As the final notification faded away, Sheyan had already steered this single-masted boat nimbly into the battlefield. Presently, the waves weren’t considered large, while the winds stable. These were coincidentally, suitable conditions for Sheyan to display his excellent directing capabilities.

Under his precise and immaculate commands, this single-masted boat literally transformed into an agile fish; infiltrating deeper at they passed several burnings ships, or battling warships that were on the verge of capsizing. Such splendid leadership, caused the onlookers to subconsciously feel that he wasn’t just steering a boat, but rather, a professional acrobat displaying an extravagantly wondrous performance of skills. They advanced with breakneck velocity.

Yes, Sheyan was currently in search for a suitable prey. Due to fact that his current force was too insignificant, he had to ensure his casualties wouldn’t be too excessive when pillaging other ships. Because with regards to these ships of the Middle Ages, it was absolutely impossible for the trio to rely on their own to effortlessly operate ships; even setting it into motion wasn’t possible. Unless, one had such formidable abilities like Blackbeard or Jack Sparrow.

Hence, his very first raid must be fought for victory, failure wasn’t permitted! There wouldn’t be a second chance to reset.

In a flash, Sheyan had already steered past several ships, and had reached ships that were engaged in gruelling naval boarding combat. However, none suited his intentions. All of a sudden, Sheyan’s eyes twinkled as his lips curled into a crafty smile. Immediately, he roared.

“Release half sail, starboard 30 degrees!”

Very quickly, a 3-masted British Royal Navy ‘Galen’ Galley* ship appeared before the crew. Clearly a ship manufactured by the British Navy, it was currently leaning against an Armed Merchantman*. The Armed Merchantman was riddled with wreckages, and evidently belonged to the pirate faction.

(TN:*A galley and Armed merchantman are types of ship)

This pirate ship had probably recently experienced an intense battle, thus, their manpower was plagued by multitudes of casualties. Hence, a British Navy ship had desired to exploit this, and bluntly tangled their broadsides; in bids of seizing the enemy’s ship! At present, the marines had already managed to force the pirates to retreat into the ship’s hold, while they predominantly occupied the territorial deck of the enemy’s ship. Obviously, commandeering this rival ship was only a matter of time.

Although Mogensha didn’t understand the rationality for choosing this ship, upon observing Sheyan’s expression, he realized his boss was practically gazing at the ship as though eyeing a naked beauty. Mogensha wholeheartedly understood his intentions. Thus, he immediately raised his ‘SN-9 Wasp’ pistol and steadied it. After locking on, he pressed the trigger!

The effective range of the ‘SN-9 Wasp’ pistol was all along vast, while the billowing clamours of the battlefield completed drowned out the sounds of gunfire. Vividly noticeable at the distant 3-masted Galley ship, two safeguarding marines that were scouting in their direction instantly turned sluggish; losing their precious lives to Brother Black’s bullets. They staggered and fell overboard into the sea, failing to even cause a splashing commotion.

Yet probably due to ill-luck, the deaths of the two marines had glimpsed the attention of a nearby comrade. When Sheyan’s crew had encroached within a 50 metres proximity, individuals atop that ship immediately discovered something wasn’t right. Left behind to safeguard their ship, the marines clad in red-white stripes started yelling at each other. Several marines begun hoisting their primitive Mauser rifles, as they fired towards here. Several others were sprinting around haphazardly. Nevertheless, the overall body still displayed an orderly state of affairs. Evidently, the discipline of the marines was indeed excellent, having undergone adequate training with the British Royal Navy.

At this moment, Reef finally realized a favourable position for his heroism. Striding widely to the bow of the ship, he lifted his shield. Brother Black immediately leveraged on him as a cover, and continued unbridled with his firepower suppression.

Sheyan then purposefully tasted a sampling bullet; discovering that if an explosive strike didn’t occur, one bullet would shave off 15 HP. Though this value seemed shockingly low, one must consider the fortification of Sheyan’s evolved innate ability ‘Stronghold’. In theory, the damage dealt was above 100 points.

In actual fact, Sheyan was still rather suspicious whether his innate ability would be factored during difficulty evaluation by the realm. Speaking from various perspective, Sheyan was indeed benefitting greatly from his innate ability.

However, now wasn’t the time to ponder over this question. Right ahead, Mogensha’s single firepower output was gunning down a dozen marines onboard the opposing 3-masted ship, propelling the morale of the pirates to skyrocket. The pace of their boat sped up once again, as it consecutively clashed against bouts of waves, before charging into the port of the opponent’s ship!

Nevertheless, the opposing was a 3-masted ship, and could be barely counted as a medium size ship of the current era. Hence, when clashing into their broadside, Sheyan’s single-masted boat was much lower than it. Thus, in order to hop onto the deck of the opponent’s ship, they had to rely on leaping from the mast. Yet, the mast could only squeeze 5-6 individuals on at one time.

Therefore, if Sheyan’s crew wished to engage in naval boarding combat, the majority of the crew had to inch extremely close to the opponent’s broadside, before jumping and climbing up the ship’s hull with their might. Naturally, the marines wouldn’t idle while watching this event unfold. Under normal circumstances, the casualty rates of such skirmishes would be extremely severe.

Furthermore at this moment, the disciplined British marines suddenly released the gunports along the broadside, as they braced solid and thick poles through those ports; as though this 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship had suddenly grew long spikes along its hull. Piercing towards their enemies, they were clearly bullying the smaller boat with lesser manpower; attempting to impede them outside their ship, battering them with holes and bruises!

Finally, a violent collision thundered. 15-16 solid poles uniformly thrusted against the lateral side of the single-masted boat. The impact of the collision was so immense, it caused the poles to crook into an arc. However, as long as these solid wooden poles could fully absorb the collision force, then evidently if they unleashed in recoil, Sheyan’s boat would be forcefully repelled away.

If that happened, their attempt to successfully ascend the boat would fizzle into soap bubbles! Once marines on board the pirate ship returned to reinforce, even the trio wouldn’t dare to face them head on! Besides, this 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship that belonged to the British Navy, had fully renounced its merchant properties; allowing them a capacity of over a hundred marines internally!

One must understand, even an ordinary attack from a marine could cause Sheyan’s health to plunge by 10 points. Counting in that perspective, Reef would still be fine. Instead, Mogensha would have a life crisis from a barrage of firepower. More critically, they had only just entered this world. If they wasted too much resources here, would they have to consign themselves into a spectating persona for any following treacherous endeavours?

Right at this instant, Sheyan suddenly charged out while enduring the hail of bullets. Pulling out a long saber that incessantly flushed with blue brilliance, he hacked down repeatedly. Kacha! Kacha! Several wooden poles with thickness of teacups, were instantly chopped cleanly without a single warning! Consecutively, their severed timber ricocheted into the skies from the immense pressure.

As for Sheyan’s boat, it continued barging forward with irresistible force. Kacha! Kacha! The remaining supporting poles obviously couldn’t withstand such massive impact force, snapping into splinters after being forced to the limits from the pressure.

Finally, amidst the piercing splintering sounds and a fit of fierce rocking, this single-masted boat finally halted beside the left hull of the 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship. Simultaneously, 7-8 grappling hooks were flung upwards like raindrops, hooking against the ship’s broadside; preventing the two ships from distancing themselves.

Reef had long ago been volleyed into frustration. Without waiting for the ship to halt, he ferociously dashed forward. As he sprinted, he laced himself with the MP draining ‘Faith-guard’, as he leapt off and clawed against the hull of the rival ship; efficiently commencing his climb up! As for Mogensha, he climbed up their boat’s mast, and continued to maintain his firepower suppression onto the enemy.

With Reef leading the foray, roaring ‘Charge with me!’ and not ‘Charge for me’, the rest of the pirates unanimously charged forward; without waiting for their boat to stabilize. Bellowing monstrously, they flung several more grappling hooks which further fastened the two ships together.

When they finally scrambled disorderly up the ship’s hull, Reef had already endured dense barrages of bullets, and had charged straight into the depths of the 30 plus guarding marines. He then unleashed a ‘Shattering Cardiac Roar’, as he plunged all the marines into a speed decline state. If Brother Black had his ‘Sparta longspear’ with him at present, one hurl would minimally reduce the capacity of these marines by over a third!

Starboard is the right of the ship.

Port is the left of the ship.

A ship’s bow is the front.

The stern of the ship is the back.

Chapter 483: A wonderful beginning

Nevertheless at this instant, Sheyan ferociously hurled a curse-mix flask over! A dizzying poison fog enveloped the area, instantly sinking the marines into fright. Naturally, Sheyan had already bestowed his pirates with his very own ‘blessings from the east’ – buffing up their strength and agility by 3 points with his gene-mix.

To these pirates whose base attributes hovered around 20 points, the gene-mix’s 6 points basic attribute boost was exceptional. Every pirate could clearly perceive their strength expanding, and their bodies turning agile. Furthermore, they further enjoyed the buffs from the ‘Pirate Ringleader’ title, as well as the roar of Captain Chevalle.

Undoubtedly, Sheyan’s plan had been perfectly orchestrated, leading to a wonderful beginning. So much so, that every single pirate successfully scaled to the enemy’s deck without perishing. This could already be deemed as a miracle in naval warfare. Personally witnessing the birth of such a miracle, the morale of the pirates surged exuberantly.

Having their formation thrown into disarray, the flustered british marines within the poison fog scrambled to flee. The pirates brandished their rusty hatchets, barbed wooden clubs, fists, planks, splintered wreckage and whatever weapons they could find. Laughing loudly like maniacs, they ruthlessly lunged forward; howling like wild dogs chasing after frightened hares!

The fighting on the deck developed rapidly, but concluded even faster. Meanwhile, the other team of british marines raiding the pirate ship were still locked in combat, and were totally incapable of reacting to a sudden ambush! Under Sheyan’s command, his malicious underlings were practically like an invading turbulent tide. In no time, they utterly drowned the marines left behind for safeguarding.

Without a doubt, when facing such a perilous situation, the flustered and exasperated raiding british marines would inevitably return to counterattack. Besides, having one’s home seized, being outflanked and attacked from the rear wasn’t a comforting thought. After Sheyan had consecutively chopped off three temporary gangplanks* connecting the pirate ship and the british navy ship, he hurriedly took cover after being engulfed by a pouring hail of bullets.

(*TN: Gangplanks are like temporary linking boards placed to provide a ‘bridge’ to the other ship)

Although there were still two gangplanks providing a channel for the british marines, Sheyan had already ordered his underling pirates; commanding his equipment deficit pirates, to plunder the british navy equipments cleanly. In particular, some veteran pirates quick wittedly and skillfully hauled several partition boards from the ship’s cabin, employing them as shields against bombarding bullets. Hiding behind those partition boards, they retaliated in resistance against the marines with manual muskets.

Although the low fire rate of muskets couldn’t be compared to automatic rifles, they still dealt massive damages at one go. This lead to an immense headache on the side of the british marines. Truthfully, the common failing of pirates laid in their lack of discipline and organization. Instead, under the command of a boss they were fully convinced of, these bandits of the seas unexpectedly, acted in a neat and orderly fashion during combat.

On the opposite side, a british lieutenant marine was enraged, as he organized his marines to unleash several rounds of assaults. Nevertheless, with only two gangplanks remaining, it was simply impossible to invest the majority of their forces in; leading to them jamming up at their present deck.

If he could launch his forces fully, even if Sheyan could still attain victory, it would surely be a bitter triumph of many fatalities; merely a tad better than a devastating defeat. Actually, Sheyan was conspiring openly against them, when he hacked away the gangplanks. With the thickness of his flesh, several dozens of gunshots still wouldn’t put his life in jeopardy. If he intended to chop away the remaining two gangplanks, why wouldn’t he be capable of doing it?

Instead, his goal was to entice the enemy to invest their troops into such perilous conditions, leading to a scenario of gaining more while fighting less. This method played the similar tune as a china warfare stratagem, of ‘encircling the enemy on three sides while leaving the fourth unblocked’.

Hence, with the state of affairs unfolding, the ball was now in Sheyan’s court after seizing the enemy’s ship. Atop the slippery ship deck, those british marines would imminently face a pincer attack by both pirate sides. Their only option now, was to seize back their own ship. Apart from that, there was no other alternative.

Sheyan had exactly identified this point. Therefore, to prevent widespread casualties on his side, he immediately switched to defence instead of offence; resorting to a position of gradual ‘grinding’.

Under such circumstances, the british marines were seemingly coerced into an awkward situation; but having fought till now, it was impossible for them to stop halfway. They could only press on, they had to press on. In theory, there should still be a way out.

Within a split second, two gangplanks shorter than 5 metres were dyed in blood.Any marines who leapt onto those gangplanks, were blown overboard like dumplings in a pan! It was impossible for them to even traverse past the middle region of the gangplanks.

Alas, despite the astonishing fatality rate, the slow reloading mechanisms of outdated muskets finally exposed a vacant interval between their firepower suppression. Several fortunate marines managed to seize this opportunity, and successfully climbed aboard the deck. Instead at this instant, a black cannon mouth slipped through a partition board, and aimed over.

The most apprehensive affair of the British Royal marines finally occurred. These rustic pirates had actually managed to locate the ship’s 2-pounder* cannon, and even loaded the cannonball in! (*the cannonball is 2 pounds, not the cannon)

BOOM! A concentrated call of steel and rust catapulted out crazily, causing the abrupt demise of those twelve valiant soldiers; as they scattered about in complete disorder. Even if they could survive, their fighting spirits would’ve plunged to rock bottom! Reef then swiftly led the pirates to bind them up, tying up their upper bodies.

Evidently, the opposing marine officer was a muddleheaded simpleton. Under the state of consecutive defeats, he actually roared and personally charged forward for the next wave.

Naturally, the trio definitely wouldn’t pass on such a golden opportunity. When that courageous lieutenant gusted over, Mogensha proceeded to shoot down the other gangplank; causing the path of the reinforcing marines to narrow further. As for Reef and Sheyan, both were standing at the forefront to welcome this courageous lieutenant…..

According to Sheyan’s probing, the health value of his lieutenant was approximately 8,000 HP; apart from possessing an advanced ability ‘Western Sword-arts’, he also had a halo ability known as ‘Appeal’ which bolstered nearby allies. His offensive capabilities were outstanding, and seemingly reaching the standards of a tier-1 legendary creature. What led one to marvel, was that his every straddling step was nimble and acute, creating an impression of impossibility to defend against him. Naturally, that was probably a specialty of his ‘Western Sword-arts’.

Nevertheless, the combined might of Reef and Sheyan didn’t find it challenging to dispatch him. With both joining up to tie him down, in addition to Brother Black’s occasional gunshots, Sheyan didn’t even require his saber to slay the lieutenant effortlessly.

After he perished, the lieutenant surprisingly dropped a black grade key. Instead, their luck ran out, and only obtained a dark-blue grade ring that increased agility +2 and block (resisting capability) +1%. Brother Black and Reef had better rings as compared to this, and thus it was given to Sheyan without contention.

With their lieutenant dead, the remaining dozens of exhausted british marines undoubtedly crumbled. Most chose to surrender while a few of them directly jumped overboard. However, with the cruel state of naval warfare, chances of escaping freely in this boundless sea was close to impossible!

Either be victorious, or face the fate of death and surrender! The only privilege of the defeated, was to slash their own throats, or walk the plank and drown…..

After triumphing, Sheyan couldn’t help but heave a long sigh. As the saying goes, the beginning is the toughest. In reality, Sheyan had been gambling before the battle commenced; with his proficiency in the field of maritime, he definitely understood how far-fetched it was for a single-masted boat filled with 45 unreliable pirates, to capture a military 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship. The chances of success was only half, and Sheyan truly hadn’t held much confidence in this!

Besides, naval warfare and land warfare were two totally different matters. Putting it bluntly, a person’s individual prowess would be limited in naval warfares. On the contrary, a vital deciding factor for victory would be a magnificent crew as well as an excellent ship.

If this 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship had discovered them way beforehand, and bluntly unleashed their cannons from afar….with the violent swaying between both sides, Mogensha could at most singlehandedly act as two cannons. Eventually, the outcome wouldn’t need much deliberation – it would surely be the single-masted boat of Sheyan’s side!

At this moment, a vulgar monkey-looking head poked out from the ship’s hold of the opposite pirate ship. Surveying his surroundings, that head instantly released a cheer, and yelled towards the interior.

“Sir Alonzo, your tactics have succeeded. We’ve successfully lured the attention of those wretched englishmen, and slayed them!”

While yelling that sentence, the hearts of Sheyan and his crew became extremely indignant. In this skirmish, Sheyan had lost 5 of his ‘abducted’ pirates. If those cowering pirates were truly intelligent, they would’ve initiated a pincer attack; speeding up the process of the collapsing marines.

Unsatisfied notions welled up in the hearts of Sheyan’s pirates.

“Whaddya mean you’ve successfully lured the attention of the marines?”

“If we weren’t here, yer bunch of cave rats be facin’ death!”

At this moment, a middle-aged male strolled out from within. His features appeared rather feminine yet unkind, as though he was squinting his eyes and judging others all the time. He was possibly that Alonzo. His gaze swept through Sheyan’s bunch of pirates who were dressed in tatters, and immediately revealed a disdainful countenance. He hadn’t even attempt to conceal his contempt, but practically appeared as though he was eyeing a pile of dog feces.

Chapter 484: So what?

Following the emergence of this middle-aged male, another 18 pirates strolled out of the hold in succession. They were even gesticulating at the 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship Sheyan and his crew had commandeered, while teases of ‘how much yer think it can fetch?’ or ‘courtin’ death’ could be heard.

By exhibiting such a conduct in front of Sheyan and his crew, they weren’t merely expressing their superiority, but obviously provoking them!!

While those pirates jested and laughed, they unanimously sauntered towards the gangplank of the 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship. They were utterly treating Sheyan and his crew like air. Sheyan didn’t speak, instead, his lips curled into a sneer. Striding forward in large steps, he targeted a gratified stomp towards the foremost brat. Indeed, the victim was that monkey brat that was currently rambling non-stop!

Sheyan’s current strength was 45* points! The might of his stomp was unimaginable, kicking that brat 5-6 metres away into the air. That monkey brat crashed and rolled several rounds back onto the pirate ship deck; utterly paralyzed on the ground, while coughing large mouthfuls of blood. Sheyan arrogantly stood before the gangplank, and coldly issued.

(TN:*probably his gene-mix no longer in effect, but his necklace’s ‘Format’ in effect)

“Which scoundrel do ye scurvy dogs belong to? You dare to behave atrociously in my presence?”

The expressions of those pirates instantly sank. Sheyan’s words were brazenly humiliating them, but the might of his recent kick had shook them utterly. A brat wearing a red bandana retreated 2-3 steps, before cursing out.

“Ye scallywag dare offend the direct subordinate of me grand Captain Chevalle ? Who be ye doesn’t matter anymore, get ready to be dried out while tied to the mast!”

Sheyan was slightly taken aback. He understood that Captain Chevalle was one of the authentic 7 great Pirate Lords*; a peak superpower who was implicitly known as the commander of this battlefield. One simply couldn’t compare him to Ammand, who hadn’t risen to prominence yet. If this crew really belonged to his direct subordinate, this would truly signify trouble. Moreover, the pirates under Sheyan similarly revealed horrified expressions on their faces.

(TN: Note that in PotC, there are 9 pirate lords in the third movie, while this is set before the first movie. Also, author combines the game, Uncharted Waters 4, into this world. In uncharted waters 4, it details 7 proof of the conqueror)

Nevertheless, Sheyan was an astute and decisive character. He only asked himself one question – could they give up the ship he was standing on?

Sheyan’s answer was obviously, “impossible”. Hence, confidence immediately surged within him; since giving up is impossible, then go all out instead! Coincidentally, another grey bandana pirate viewed Sheyan’s hesitance as fear, and directly pointed towards Sheyan’s face as he rebuked loudly.

“How much blood me matey coughed out, that be the times you will be hacked! If ye knows fear, then obediently offer up tis’ boat!”

Another pirate stood forward while ingratiating himself with laughters.

“I can tell tis’ a smooth-skinned bastard, let us stick up his buttocks for some jolly good fun. Let’s say we leave him a way out, after we be havin’ our fun, aye?”

By now, the expressions of the pirates under Sheyan had drastically sank, and their morale dissipated; shaking their heads, they sighed. Instead, Sheyan cracked his head, as his lips leaked a grim ridicule.

“You bunch amaze me.”

After his words faded, a vicious slap was struck forth. Instantly, that gay pirate felt as though a giant hammer had directly smashed his face, as he stumbled many steps backwards; an eyeball of his had ruptured, while innards dangled from his face. He was about to scream, but instead, a pool of blood mangled with teeth slipped out from his widened mouth; akin to rain infused with hails!

Overwhelmed with shock and rage, that red bandana pirate behind pulled out his weapon and hacked forward alongside another pirate comrade. At the instant of descending shimmering blades, Sheyan stamped forward uprightly like a lofty mountain; dawning an imposing impression of a tremendous guardian! Without evading, those broadswords stabbed/slashed against his body as blood exploded forth!

At this instant, the expressions of Sheyan’s pirates changed. Howling vehemently, they charged forward in aid! Instead, Sheyan issued a chilling scoff.

“Reckless fools!”

Sheyan fiercely reached out with his gripping hands. Though his current action seemed very straightforward, it was executed swiftly and seemingly impossible to block. It didn’t matter if that red bandana pirate hastily retracted his hand while crying out in fear, as Sheyan gripped him unyieldingly.

Under the massive pressure of 45 points of strength, fracturing shatters emitted from the shackled wrist of that red bandana pirate; as he immediately released a blood-curdling scream. Pirates were individuals with reckless mindsets, but they still esteemed the strong and valiant. With the red bandana brat screaming pathetically, not only had he thrown away his own face, he even caused his pirate head, Alonzo, to adopt an ugly expression.

Sheyan gently folded his wrist. Kacha! He directly snapped the red bandana pirate’s wrist like a chopstick, accompanied by his mournful wails. Gently drooping him forward, Sheyan quickly followed up with a backhanded slap; sending the red bandana pirate flying away.

Without voicing a single word of resistance, that red bandana pirate was sent flying as he crashed against a nearby mast. Tumbling several rolls down, before sprawling limpidly across the ground; his body convulsing before death’s door.

Quickly and easily, Sheyan whacked the remaining pirates to the ground, before he scoffed.

“Tying me to the mast and drying me out? Hmph! Since my mood is good today, I shall leave you a way out….mates!”

At this moment, the pirates under Sheyan’s command streamed forward with unprecedented excitement, as they shouted sternly.

“Aye!”

Harboring malicious intents, Sheyan glanced towards those pirate scum.

“F**kers! I saved your dog lives, but in turn, you dare to provoke me? Biting the hands that feed you, you dare to seize my battle spoils?! I shan’t have your lives today, but I shall have you lot stripped! And hang you lot of naked pigs atop my mast! I’ll let everyone observe the consequences of provoking me, Seaman Yan!”

“You scum dare!!!”

That red bandana pirate was originally playing dead, but upon hearing Sheyan’s words, his vision seemingly darkened and he passed out! As the saying goes, a human lives with his face, while a tree its bark. To be stripped like naked pigs, and paraded on a mast around the battlefield; wouldn’t death be better? Not only the british navy, but even Captain Chevalle’s reputation would be ruined; as good as having his heart torn asunder!

Instead, Sheyan’s pirate crew felt exceedingly resolved, as the bulk of them pounced forward to attend to this ‘undressing’.

To the pirates, having their pants tugged at, was an indescribably shameful scene. Strictly speaking, they were nevertheless the underlings of Captain Chevalle’s underling. They had adopted the identity of foxes who exploited the tiger’s might. Merely relying on the illustrious reputation of Captain Chevalle, they would normally receive respect wherever they went. Regardless of strength or a sense of superiority, they belonged to a cut above the rest. Yet presently, they were being viciously beaten by others, moveover, they were on the verge of being stripped into naked pigs to be hung onto the ship’s mast. Such an insult, couldn’t simply be described.

“If ye have the guts, kill me!!”

Those few pirates howled feverishly, as though their eye sockets were about to split; appearing on the verge of being infuriated to death, as though their eyeballs were about to rupture.

All of a sudden, a chaotic upheaval resounded from the pirate ship’s hold, as several tens of pirates came rushing out. They immediately noticed their bare buttocks comrades, who presently had expressions identical to being flayed alive. The leader of that pack, a one-eyed large chap, bellowed fanatically.

“Seaman Yan, ye be seekin’ yer own demise. Ye be truly courting death, to have the guts to dishonour me crewmates, the Sharks of the Mediterranean sea. We will never let you off, just wait for your destiny of having yer corpse divided by the sharks of the Caribbean sea! Your life be mine!”

He concluded his sentence by blatantly heaving up two hatchets in his hands, before forcefully hurling them over!

When that one-eyed chap hurled his dual hatchets across, his sudden outburst of strength led to the manifold bandages along his body to rip apart; his wounds split open, as blood came gushing out! Instead, his dual hatchets swivelled thunderously in midair; one hatchet curved towards Sheyan with lightning speed, while the other beheaded towards an old pirate who had just stripped the pants of the red bandana pirate!

Evidently, this must be the true captain of this pirate ship. Sheyan roared sonorously.

“Reef!”

Naturally, Reef intuitively understood, as he activated his ‘Courage’ ability; rushing horizontally towards the stunned old pirate. That old pirate, had been an underling of unmatched loyalty and obedience to Sheyan; disregarding the awe-inspiring name of Captain Chevalle, he would charge straightforwardly upon Sheyan’s every command. If Sheyan allowed his body to be decapitated in the sight of onlookers, who would dare to courageously trudge forward to his commands in the future?

A rich brilliance of blue radiated out, as Sheyan unsheathed his saber! Exhaling vigorously, he summoned his strength and swung towards the incoming hatchet! Kiank clank!! The sounds of metallic clashing pierced into the air, vibrating sonorously in the ears of everyone present. Sparks and blue glitters scattered in all directions, as the massive frame of this ship tremored over the ocean!

Sheyan deflected the flying hatchet towards the side. Instead, that hatchet appeared like it had sentience; revolving as it carved an arc in the air, before returning to its master’s hand. In spite of that, Sheyan’s arms had turned numbed from the collision, as he staggered backwards from the impact. Besides, a hatchet was a heavier weapon, and using his long saber to block against it was barely enough.

Instead, that old pirate who had lurched forward to undress others, wasn’t so fortunate. His individual prowess were too low, and though Reef aided in the nick of time, one of his arm was still chopped off; instantly, he passed out from the searing pain and blood loss!

At this moment, Mogensha had already supplied the information pertaining to this pirate captain.

Chapter 485: I must have half his arm!

Witnessing the blood gushing wildly from the severed arm of the old pirate, was akin to a vicious slap across the trio’s face. Though One-eyed Hog was perturbed that someone had managed to deflect his flying hatchet, he still laughed loudly; commanding his underlings to charge!

Reef bolted forward with a collected expression, greeting the pack of incoming pirates. Evil tendencies flickered in Sheyan’s eyes, as he fished out the ‘Shrivelled Tangerine*’ and smeared its venom gently onto the blade of his ‘+7 West’ saber. Then, he hastily followed up by hurling a curse-mix.

(TN:*Recap, Sheyan acquired this from the Starship trooper World and only appraised it after LOTR world, ch 55 of vol 6. It allows the next 3 attacks to be corrosive attacks.)

A dull greenish poison fog enshrouded the area, corrupting the bodies of the group of pirates! With the combination of its AOE stunning effect and Reef’s ‘Shattering Cardiac Roar’, the hostile pirates were struck into a disastrously sluggish state; appearing as though every step was arduously challenging.

Sheyan lifted his right fist while he buried his head to spear forward. Issuing a beastly snarl from the depths of his throat, a twinkle shone atop his raised right middle finger, from a ring that resembled a demonic pupil; a twinkle that shone deep into the depths of one’s soul. Then, he stampeded straight towards the pirates with unbelievable speed!

Such a stampeding momentum felt like it was impossible to resist. A faint projection of a wild barbarous oxen, trampling its hooves ludicrously while burying its head in collision, could be seen following Sheyan. Creak! Creak! The ship’s deck cracked with intense trembles wherever he stampeded through. In response to that, some pirates attempted to intercept him, but were simply blown away instead. While others could only taste the trailing dust from behind; watching on helplessly while lamenting their own inadequacy!

This was the first public appearance of his ‘Barbaric-demon Pupil’ ever since its upgrade! The formidability of its ‘Horn-Rage’ ability after an overall upgrade! At present, Sheyan was no longer the puny sailor like when he first entered this world. Throughout his journeys, he had been overly cautious, committed to prudency with each step. Yet right now, he finally possessed a terrifying strength sufficient to clash head on with the majority of characters!

In a twinkling of an eye, Sheyan arrived before One-eyed Hog; his terrifying vigor of blatant collision undoubtedly caused One-eyed Hog to feel stifled. A melancholic oceanic-blue radiation poured down like a waterfall, as Sheyan cleaved down with his raised saber.

His saber cleaved deep into the shoulder of One-eyed Hog, unleashing searing corrosive damages seeping into his flesh as it emitted an unexplainable assailing stench. Bellowing with anguished snarls, One-eyed Hog swept out his left hatchet horizontally; drawing a streak of blood from Sheyan’s ribs.

At this instant, Mogensha’s ‘Beastly Instincts’ had been activated. DA! DA! DA! DA! DA! 5 uninterrupted gunfire rumbled out. The first two broiling bullets spiralled in, and collided mutually before One-eyed Hog’s face. Boom! A gaudy blaze erupted before his face. Instantaneously, One-eyed Hog’s lone existent left eye welled with tears from the piercing eruption, as his counter attack was immediately halted! Another 3 bullets segregated and jetted into the wrist of three other pirates pouncing towards Sheyan, forcibly disrupting their offensive attempts.

Sheyan laughed as he swiped his ‘+7 West’ saber horizontally, slashing the loins of a pouncing pirate into two! Amidst the mournful spurts of blood, its horizontal momentum remained unstoppable, eventually slicing deep into the left arm of Hog; the sound of the saber’s blade carving against bones was immeasurably distinct!

Yet, this saber slash didn’t deliver crushing damages. Nevertheless, the defence negation ability of this ‘+7 West’ saber was truly incredible. Furthermore, his slash was an explosive strike. One-Eyed Hog screamed miserably, as he retaliated by swiping the back of his left hatchet in; smashing it against Sheyan’s forehead, as it sent him crashing away with stars in his eyes!

Their exchange of blows spanned merely few seconds, but was fought with utmost intensity. Hog’s inferiority resided in his low defence, even though he possessed much HP. The direct slash of Sheyan’s long saber was exceedingly devastating; credited to the combined deadliness of its defence negating ability, and corrosive damages of his ‘Shrivelled Tangerine’.

By now, Sheyan had plunged himself deep behind enemy lines, trapping himself within the encirclement of many pirates. Several pirates were howling ravenously, as they swarmed in; each hacking towards Sheyan!

But who knew, Sheyan had been awaiting this moment. At present, Sheyan’s defence had attained a terrifying 26.5, thereby reducing damages received by 51%! Supplemented with the fortification of his awakened mystical innate ‘Stronghold’, it further minused 40 points of damage! Even though the pirate’s offensive capabilities weren’t weak, Sheyan still possessed an entirety of 940 HP.

More crucially, every single pirate supplied a 15% chance to proc the outrageous effect of his ‘Zergling Rush’!!! Moreover, having enhanced his ‘Barbarous Crust Armour’ to +4, this effect could be triggered unceasingly during combat against storyline characters!

Therefore, including One-eyed Hog, there were a total of six pirates who were chopping away at Sheyan. Which goes to say in theory, each wave of assault had a probability of 90% to trigger ‘Zergling Rush’…..

With five other pirates unanimously stabbing forth, Sheyan’s body was instantly riddled with wounds; his blood bucketed down like rain. Yet in that instance, the frequency of his slashing blade rays multiplied exponentially. It became simply impossible to lock onto the image of his saber; one could only witness a myriad of fatal deep-blue rays sprinkling down, covering the heavens and the earth! Within a split second, it completely enveloped One-eyed Hog within. Shrilling screeches and horrifying blood splashed forth.

Such a perverted style of battling was essentially trading life for life in disregard for everything! Of course, borrowing the might of his disgusting long saber, and propelled with the frequency of ‘Zergling Rush’, his damage output had reached the pinnacle.

Except, pirates were like semi-fortified berserkers, where their offense was high while lacking in defence and survivability. It would be exceedingly difficult for any other contestants to attempt to reconstruct this manner of fighting. The core factor resided in Sheyan’s mysterious innate ability ‘Stronghold’. Without the protection of 40 damage reduction, which contestant would dare grit their teeth, and endure the relentless assaults of six pirates with powerful offensive abillities?

At this instance, Mogensha once again activated his ‘Beastly Instincts’, as he complimented Sheyan’s fighting impetuously. Psh! Psh! Psh! Sounds of bullets lodging into flesh drifted out. Shuttling out from Brother Black, 7 consecutive shots mercilessly drilled into One-eyed Hog’s brains!

Concurrently, Sheyan was slashing forth like a maniac, slashing down three times with his ‘+7 West’ saber. Three penetrating and chilling blades hacked into the right arm of One-eyed Hog at seemingly the same time!!

The first slash, cleaved open his tanned armour. The second slash demonstrated an obnoxious and vile momentum, as it chopped into his bone,

The third slash, was seemingly executed at a speed which the naked eye couldn’t capture. With an oppressive sound of scraping bones, Sheyan forcefully decapitated the lower half of One-eyed Hog’s right arm!

Sordid red blood sprayed out in contrast to the dazzling glitters of blue radiance, as waves of blood-curdling screams reverberated through the sea!

His three slashes contained such unparalleled deadliness, that it left the onlookers trembling in fear and bitterness! Their shivering bodies turned cold, as an instinctive thought welled up honestly in everyone’s heart:

If those 3 slashes were directed at me, would I be able to dodge them? Are they even avoidable?

One-eyed Hog could feel the immense torment from his decapitated limb. After suffering the vicious combined assaults of Mogensha and Sheyan, and upon viewing the scene before him – Sheyan bathed in blood while stubbornly refusing to fall, an instinctively fear birthed in his heart. Though he was surrounded by the boundless sea and his brothers, he couldn’t help feeling an incomparable sense of chill and weakness overcoming him entirely.

As One-eyed Hog was a man of a hundred battles, he immediately seized the impact to tumble backwards, before fleeing from the attacking vicinity of Sheyan. He scrambled backwards while groaning pathetically, using the lives and bodies of his underlings to obstruct Sheyan’s onslaught. Simultaneously, he charged frantically towards the hold of the ship, while knocking against multiple characters and objects as he stumbled forward. Eventually, he disappeared into the darkness of the ship’s hold.

Though he was clear on the situation, there was nowhere to flee with the vast seas surrounding them. Instead, One-eyed Hog panted heavily, as he pressed on and clutched the mutilated wound of his right arm. As he fled in panic, all will to resist had been totally routed because of that single saber.

One-eyed Hog had never encountered such an opponent that could deal such ludicrous explosiveness before. An opponent that would blatantly dash into thousands of hostile enemies, just for his desire to claim the life of the enemy’s leader! This blasted foe……

He can actually do that,

He actually dares to do that!!!!

Such a feeling of degrading into prey is truly horrid!

Watching the fleeing One-eyed Hog, Sheyan smiled contemptuously and didn’t pursue. Instead, he spun round to observe the old pirate who had fainted, who had woken up by now. Then, Sheyan raised his blood dripping long saber, as he roared while drenched in blood.

“He carved out your hand! Is it fair of me to claim half his arm?”

The lips of that old pirate had turned pale from the pain. Still, he broke into hysterical laughter.

“Fair! Your move was splendid, cap’n!”

Sheyan snarled.

“But that isn’t enough! This arm is merely principal, I’ll claim the full booty in a jiffy!!”

When the crowd heard Sheyan’s statement, they instantly felt the blood in their veins rushing feverously!!! The morale of Sheyan’s pirates flourished, while the opposing pirates could only glance at each other. Gripping his long saber, he had stolen the scene; naturally emanating a bearing that intimidated all who was present. Pointing towards a pirate ahead with his incessantly radiating dark-blue saber, he haughtily declared.

“Move aside, grievances stems from an origin while a debt has an owner. We paid blood to rescue you from the bullets and cutlasses of those marines, but this is how you treat your benefactors? Ye filthy idiots who stubbornly obey orders from another, I don’t give a shit! But that Dogshit Hog dares to chop off the hand of my mate, I must have both his arms!”

Chapter 486: Persuading the pirates

Facing Sheyan’s imposing loftiness, the hostile pirates huddled together with gazes of foreboding fear. Although they refused to give way, they didn’t dare to initiate combat either. After the deadlock persisted for several minutes, Brother Black suddenly started laughing back as his vantage point as he pointed towards the stern of the ship.

“HAHAHA,what a surprise, One-eyed Hog had just left with his confidants on a jollyboat. A bunch of idiots guarding his wake to death, only to be abandoned by their captain!”

This piece of news was like a bolt from the blue that struck the obstructing pirates. They couldn’t help but glance over, and indeed, witnessed a frightened One-eyed Hog rowing away with his trusted aides; while clutching his decapitated arm like a grieving dog. Their hearts were instantly discouraged, seemingly on the verge of heart failure, as the weapons cluttered to the deck one after another.

Narrating the following event, One-eyed Hog was truly unfortunate. After he had stubbornly escaped the jaws of Sheyan in his jollyboat, he was locked onto by a British Navy Armed Merchantman ship. With a cannonball blasting in from a nautical mile towards the jollyboat…..the individuals onboard were truly fed to the sharks of the caribbean sea..……

Strictly speaking, One-eyed Hog didn’t have any intentions of abandoning his comrades. It was only because his fighting spirit had crumbled, as his dread towards Sheyan’s crew grew gradually. One-eyed Hog understood how powerful his own crew was, and figured Sheyan would fly into a rampaging massacre. Thus, he could only treat his cannon fodder crew like dead men, and fled decisively; because if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have an opportunity to do so in the future. Furthermore, he intended to seek out the crew of the main pirate fleet to settle this debt.

However, how would he be aware of Sheyan’s ploy? Indeed, how could he fathom Sheyan’s desire to commandeer his crew? Hence, his desperate actions had fallen coincidentally with the schemes of Sheyan, playing out to Sheyan’s orchestrated performance.

Observing that the pirates had lost their fighting spirits, Sheyan gestured to his pirates, whose morale had skyrocketed, to surround the fifty plus underlings of One-eyed Hog with weapons.

In reality, Sheyan had a smaller crew, but with their soaring morale and vigor, they appeared as though their numbers had amplified by ten folds; while they encircled the crew of One-eyed Hog. The opposing pirates shivered in fear as they were squeezed in, with some pleading while others berating furiously.

Facing such a scene, Sheyan stood before them with indifference; refusing to issue a word. After the atmosphere of despair completed overwhelmed the pirates, Sheyan maliciously slashed against the air twice with his long saber. Finally, he roared out sonorously.

“Have you lost your balls to fight, ye bunch of scoundrels, cutthroats and scurvy dogs?

Nobody dared to answer Sheyan. Instead, some picked up their weapons and pointed towards Sheyan; blood bubbling furiously in their hearts from the humiliation.

Sheyan nodded with great satisfaction, while casting a gaze of admiration at the pirates who dared to raise their weapons at him. He praised out.

“Excellent, ye bunch of scums deserving of walking the plank to feed the sharks. You ultimately still possess certain redeeming qualities.”

After speaking, Sheyan glance back towards his own pirate underlings and shouted.

“Tell the lot of crestfallen childs, who was it that defeated them!”

Morale soared amongst the pirates of Sheyan, as they summoned their strength and howled in unison.

“Aye, yer lost to the Flying Dutchman’s Third Mate! Seaman Yan from the east! The heart of the Decaying Undead be his booty, the one who toyed with Ammand within his palms!!”

In the perspective of One-eyed Hog’s crew, whatever decaying undead or Ammand, none could compare to the thunderous reputation of the Flying Dutchman. Bear this in mind, the position of those three legendary pirate ships were akin to religious faith of sacred lands, in the hearts of the pirates.

No matter how redoubtable their pirate lord Chevalle was, his flagship hadn’t risen to the realms of the legendary pirate ships.

Those pirates began whispering amongst themselves momentarily, while occasionally peeping at Sheyan. Obviously, they were circulating the rumours overheard from bars, and from the mouths of whores!

Roughly half a minute later, dispirited expressions plastered onto the crew of One-eyed Hog. A massive pirate clad in sleeveless hide coat hung his head down dejectedly, as he stepped forward and bowed.

“Sir, to be losin’ to ye, this defeat isn’t unjust at all. To be capable of commandeering a marine’s 3-masted ship, with a pathetic single-masted boat and a crew of sickly and aged….sure enough, ye be worthy of bein’ an infamous character of the legendary pirate ship. Me crew has decided not to resist, so please take our lives…..if this can appease your wrath.”

Sheyan scoffed disdainfully in response.

“Do you think my aim is a pathetic 3-masted Galley ship? Far be it! I loathe the life of a Third Mate, my aim, is to become captain of a grand 5-masted caravel ship! My jolly roger shall flutter alongside the pirate ships of legends!”

Dumbstruck by this proclamation, the buff chap in sleeveless hide coat could only argue.

“Sir!!!! Pardon me presumptions, it be impossible for ye to achieve that. In truth, your crew can barely sail a large 5-masted caravel ship at the walkin’ speed of wenches squeezin’ their thighs on their periods!”

Sheyan earnestly replied.

“A journey is made one step at a time, a meal one mouthful at a time. I understand this fact clearly. That is why I require a capable crew, lads who are sufficiently bold! Your name, tell me your name big guy.”

That buff chap clad in hide was stunned momentarily, before he muttered.

“Me name’s Canby, sir. You can call me Iron-hammer. This one was a jolly good blacksmit’ back before me days of piracy.”

“Then, be ye willing to accompany me to capture our grand 5-masted Caravel ship? Or perhaps, be ye willing to brave death with me?” Sheyan questioned solemnly.

Canby paused for a moment.

“Sir!! You be a true maniac!”

Sheyan’s incisive gaze stabbed it as though about to devour someone.

“This is because I possess sufficient strength! And sufficient confidence!”

Canby stared briefly at Sheyan. Then, he half knelt to the ground before touching the deck with his forehead.

“I be willin’ to serve ye, cap’n!”

“Wonderful!” Sheyan pulled him up, before roaring towards the multitude.

“Those who had dared to raise their weapons at me, do you have the balls to step forward?”

After issuing his statement, several pirates revealed indignant expressions as they stepped forward with large strides. Sheyan surveyed them with a pair of appreciative eyes, before bellowing loudly in their faces.

“I claim the group of you! Ye heard that! Your bravery has shakened me, and so your lives shall be benevolently spared. You shall have the honor of serving me! Whoever is not in accord, can step forth now and jump overboard. Is there anyone, anyone?”

The pirates peered at each other without a single movement. If there wasn’t a need, jumping into the sea with the current climate wouldn’t be a very comforting experience. Sheyan proclaimed while pointing at Canbi.

“From henceforth, he is your head! Get this in your mind; obeying his orders is equivalent to obeying mine! As for those spineless scums fearful of picking up their weapons, they will be your underlings…whomever wishes to object my leadership or are feeling compelled to accept this, I shall give you ten seconds to raise your dissent!”

A skinny long-necked pirate then lifted his hand bashfully. Sheyan tilted his chin up. The pirate inquired timidly.

“Sir, if this one’s understanding be correct, you intend fer us to join the crew of th’ Flying Dutchman?”

Sheyan grimly renounced.

“That ship is filled with fiends who are neither human nor ghosts. If you wish to join them, I can write a testimonial to recommend you.”

Muffled attempts emitted from the pirates as they attempted to repress their giggles. The skinny pirate shrugged his shoulders and replied.

“Yet I feel there isn’t a difference between us and sir. Fine, I was just referring to the outer appearance.”

Sheyan responded indifferently.

“There is always an exception to all things, ain’t it? I shall specifically inform you right now, I intend to be my own captain. Therefore, I promise you ample rewards for serving me in the time to come. I can swear, these rewards will be heftier than what One-eyed Hog can offer you by a fold!”

Listening till here, the skinny pirate nodded.

“Aye, I understand. Honoured to be part of yer crew, cap’n. Tis’ one has no further questions.”

Sheyan paused briefly, noticing that the underlings of One-eyed Hog weren’t dismal at all, but instead were engaged in mutual whisperings. Knowing that his gamble had paid off, Sheyan revealed an excited countenance. The sea was always a world where the strong preyed on the weak. By employing his strength to directly pressure them, these bunch of pirates who were accustomed to following the powerful, would naturally react pragmatically.

Most crucially, the majority of these pirates belonged to the lower tiers, where their loyalty to upper echelons remained unstable…..citing the example of a basic employer of a Foxconn. If you presented him with a 5,000 bucks salary, he would surely forsake his job and defect to any wealthy Taiwan conglomerate with you. Following that, Sheyan clasped his hands and issued his very first command.

“Alright, all hands on deck on this magnificent 3-masted ship of the englishmen. All of you best change to those ugly red and white rugs of the marines. Within 5 minutes, I wish to see this ship set sail! What, you’re asking me how to handle the marines? Wait, wait, don’t execute them. I have a better arrangement for these arrogant arses. Strip off their clothes and throw them into the warehouse of the ship!”

Chapter 487: Bowsprit

Though his pirate crew was perplexed by his order, reckoning that their new captain loved picking up soap*, they swiftly separated to their tasks. Reef heaved a sigh of relief. Evidently, he was reluctant to spectate any massacre happening, and therefore Sheyan had also taken his emotions into consideration.

(TN:*it means gay lol. Like picking up the soap in a shower with another guy)

Under Sheyan’s precise arrangements and allocation of taskings, the 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship swiftly bustled into life. The sails of the 3 masts swelled with the wind, as the experienced pirates begun steering this foreign 3-masted ship; each speedily assimilating into their tasks. Occasionally, Sheyan would kick against their asses, spurring them on to hasten their executions.

At the moment the 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley Ship slowly sailed into motion, Sheyan received a notification from his nightmare imprint.

Witnessing this list of notification, of course Sheyan immediately equipped the new ‘Pirate Captain’ title. Then, he first rummaged through his own ship, probing for any novel discoveries. Following that, he headed over to plunder the shabby and tattered One-eyed Hog’s pirate ship.

For some unknown reason, the pirate ship was presently emitting a peculiar glow. This glow differed from the glows of equipments/items. Sheyan instantly hopped aboard as he scanned in all directions, finally discovering that the glow was emitting from the ship’s bowsprit. Upon closer inspection, a list of statistics appeared in his face.

Since he discovered this object, Sheyan called his pirates over without hesitation; ordering them to transfer this bowsprit over, and instal it onto his 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship. The bowsprit they replaced, was some random junk board which naturally couldn’t be sold off; thus, it was simply tossed into the sea like garbage.

After setting sail, Sheyan issued an order to navigate towards the edge of the battlefield; doing their utmost to avoid enemies. Meanwhile, he ordered for all cannon ports to be sealed up, which he had a simple reason for doing so.

At present, it hadn’t even been half a day since Sheyan had amassed a tiny crew, but now his pirate crew had suddenly expanded exponentially. Any hopes of drilling into them a mentality of ‘strict compliance’ would be seemingly impossible.

However, in naval warfare, there was no such thing as leaving! Every member onboard must be utterly coordinated, being in one body with their ship. In that manner, their combat prowess would then scale to its maximum. On the contrary, an individual’s combat prowess out a sea would simply be tossed to back of the scale.

Sheyan was only mortal and not a god. No matter how valiant he could be, it was inconceivable for him to drill the undisciplined pirates into an invincible army! Hence, he had already firmed up his resolution – to engage in more chaotic naval boarding battles! He completely disregarded all notions of engaging in an artillery warfare with his foes.

Thus, his prior objective for seizing this ship, was to pursue absolute speed and survivability; specifically to prey on other ships with relatively slower speeds, and doing their utmost to engage in naval boarding battles!

Of course, warships that focused on destructive artillery would’ve definitely encountered such a situation many times. Their ships would inevitably be stationed with similarly daunting marines, ones who wouldn’t fear the naval boarding of pirates! Thus, under normal circumstances, the hundred plus pirates under Sheyan’s command wouldn’t be able to learn much.

Nevertheless, having acquired the ‘Pirate Captain’ title, Sheyan was now enjoying an exceptionally intangible enhancement with the way his pirates viewed him. Moreover, his medical treatments also supplied extremely powerful beneficial effects. Furthermore, there was still an indomitable MT in Reef, who could throw the enemy’s formation into disarray.

This current situation was akin to three ferocious tigers leading a flock of goats in battle. The ferocious tigers would rip apart the enemy’s defence; while those pirates, adept in bullying the weak while cowering to the mighty, would merely need to accomplish a simple task – to follow suit in charging forward, yelling clamorously while hacking away at the enemy’s heads with their hatchets!

Naturally, that plan would inevitably leave a trail of casualties and even corpses! To that, Sheyan could only express his utmost apologies. He truly didn’t possess the luxury of time to slowly drill the pirates, and the battlefield would be the best training grounds itself. For those who survived, they would definitely become conquerors!

Commanding them to cruise around the outskirts of the battlefield, Sheyan refrained from engaging in battles. After navigating around for half an hour, some fundamental ice breaking had been made between the pirates; while several veteran pirates congregated to repair certain compositions of the boat.

To humans, the sea was boundless and voyages could only be calculated by the years. During this era, to wait for one’s ship to dock before repairing, would cause it to submerge to the seabed long ago.

Hence, many veteran sailors would learn carpentry; tasked with the job of both mending the hull of the ship, and safeguarding the ship during raids. Sheyan didn’t require them to participate in battle, but merely to transform the ship into a speedier and tougher one. For the sake of speed and strength, refraining from broadside artillery battles would be worth it. Besides, those relatively older veteran pirates gladly accepted such tasks.

As Sheyan turned around, he asked the faraway Canbi who had just returned from the ship’s hold.

“How many remaining marines do we have on board?”

Canbi pondered a little while recalling with some difficulty. Then, he dragged another skinnier looking pirate over.

“Chump, how many marines do we have?”

That skinny pirate shrugged his shoulders.

“Aye alright, I remember they be locked within the ship’s hold, I’ll make a count.”

While speaking, he skipped and descended into the ship. However, after two minutes had elapsed, an unprecedentedly piercing gunshot rocked out from beneath. Following that, miserable yells of several pirates could be heard.

“Blimey shitsqueak! They be plannin’ to blow up the ship and leave by the jolly boats!”

As it turns out, though the marines surrendered on the surface, they had later discovered this – apart from Sheyan’s trio, the rest of the pirates were rather weak. Moreover, they discovered many pirates were incapable of addressing their comrades by their names. Thus, notions of malicious revolt brewed in their hearts.

The Hill Maiden was originally theirs, and the marines were exceedingly familiar with their homeground. Although they were trapped deep beneath the deck, their leading Lieutenant Commander still managed to lead them to locate weapons. They were just on the verge of escaping, before they unexpectedly got discovered.

Hearing those miserable yells, Sheyan’s expression changed drastically. With his maximum strength, he raised his leg fiercely and heavily stomped against the deck! Kacha! A blunt sound pierced out, while several long cracks emerged on this impressively solid wooden deck.

Wood splinters and dust puffed into the air, as Sheyan half knelt to the ground, and viciously pounded against the cracks. Kacha! The poor deck couldn’t withstand such tremendous force, as it exploded into splinters; disintegrating into a massive hole. The entire frame of Sheyan came crashing down into the cabin beneath.

Sheyan dashed with his might, as he rounded corners after corners, before witnessing a marine midshipman nearing the gunpowder storage. The midshipmen was holding a torch, with an expression of viewing death as a return home. Without hesitation, Sheyan activated the ability of his ‘Barbaric-demon Pupil’. At once, a dreadfully tyrannical force propelled him to collide forward. With a fist, Sheyan smacked that midshipman tumbling 7-8 metres through the air, while his torch was immediately extinguished with a pinch from Sheyan.

Sheyan exhaled with great exertion, as he shook his head and strolled to the marine’s front. With an ashen complexion, he rebuked.

“A human had no intentions of harming the tiger, yet the tiger harboured designs to hurt! I was reluctant to treat you using extreme methods. I’d originally decided to leave you a way out. Yet, you filthy marines intend to take my life!”

Indeed, if the foiled explosive plans of the marines had taken fruit, once the gunpowder storage of this ship blew up…..if the trio weren’t dead, their skins would’ve been scalded into oblivion. Moreover, Sheyan’s former painstaking deliberations and plotting would inevitably go up in smokes!

(TN: Lieutenant Commander is a rank above Lieutenant in the navy.)

Chapter 488: Enrolment

The marine Midshipman’s face was filled with blood, and appeared extremely miserable. Facing the harsh criticism from Sheyan, he snarled with a venomous gaze.

“You vile heretic! We will never compromise with you. You’ll end up nailed to a cross with ravens feasting on you; you wretched slaughterer!”

Sheyan sneered in response. At this instant, clamorous yells, curses and brawls could be heard from other regions of the ship’s hold; along with violent rumbles of gunfire. Very quickly, the ship’s deck was once again dyed red with sprinkles of blood, as droplets overflowed out from the edges and dripped into the sea. Initially, large blood patches could be seen, but gradually it spread metres out before dissolving into the sea!

Almost instantaneously, this insurrection was once again vanquished. Amongst the remaining marines, approximately fifty were still alive. Their faces revealed numbed and grievous expressions, but their hands were bundled up behind their heads.

Sheyan sauntered out of the ship’s hold with an icy grim countenance. When he arrived, his first command was –

“Seize their officers and bring them to me!”

In present times, the hierarchy of the marines were distinct and strict. Their uniform itself was enough to differentiate their ranks. The pirates instantly swung into action. Canbi hauled at least eight marine officers ranked Midshipmen or above. Arranging them into one row, he bound them tightly to the side of the ship.

Before their captives, Sheyan pulled out a marine before stuffing a blunt kitchen knife into his hand. Then, he ordered seriously.

“Go on, give your senior officers a stab.”

That marine’s hands were shivering violently, but his eyes maintained a deep animosity. Howling loudly, he flicked the kitchen knife around towards Sheyan’s neck.

Sheyan’s punch immediately pounded against his face, leaving that marine sprawling onto the deck. Then, a stomp crushed down heavily! Like tangerines squashed by a rolling tyre, blood oozed out profusely from the marine. His chest had completely collapsed inward!

No doubt, his life was lost. Such a cruel scene; don’t even mention the british marines, even the savage pirates had their voices stolen by fear as cold perspiration secreted from their backs.

Following that, Sheyan picked up the blood dyed kitchen knife, and casually gripped out another marine. He maintained a casual tone, a tone one would ask someone if they’ve eaten yet.

“Go on, give your senior officers a stab.”

That marine’s jaw dropped. Step by step, he staggered towards a marine Sub-lieutenant. That Sub-lieutenant shut his eyes bluntly. Instead, the knees of the approaching marine suddenly knelt to the ground. Covering his face, he cried bitterly.

“No, I can’t!!!”

Sheyan apathetically pulled out ‘Ambition’, and fired off after aiming at the back of his head! Then, he callously declared while basked in this blood reeked atmosphere.

“Next.”

By now, everyone understood what Sheyan was trying to do. Those tied up marine officers were struggling vehemently, as they unleashed torrents of vile profanities. Even the normal marines started an uproar. However, such an uproar was instantly appeased by three consecutive exploding heads, a move credited to Mogensha.

Sheyan then spoke indifferently.

“My esteemed sirs. I’ve tried my utmost to cordially ensure your human rights, even though you are my captives. Yet, you repaid my leniency and benevolence, by seeking to fry my body and crush my bones. Fine then, I admit, I am truly a scum would holds a spirit of deep vengeance. Moreover, since my tolerance is minute, then you shall be repaid with the most cruel of methods!”

Very swiftly, a third marine captive was dispatched over, clutching onto a blood dyed kitchen knife. Learning from his earlier two predecessors, his movements were swifter. Yet before he acted, he swung his head towards Sheyan with utter fear, as he stammered.

“Sir, I retain only one question, just one. Will you give me the opportunity to finish my question, sir?”

Sheyan reached his hand and gestured him to speak.

That captive continued.

“Have I no choice but to leave a deep stab in Sub-lieutenant Philip that you designated? Or it wouldn’t matter if I stab anyone else of the 7 officers? This is very crucial to me, because once I stab Sir Philip, the guilt will prevent me from sleeping for months. But if you allow me to freely choose my target, then I can carry on living with a clear conscience.”

Sheyan replied insipidly.

“You have the jurisdiction to freely choose, mister.”

That captive bowed and replied.

“I am grateful for this authority, sir.”

The captive then walked towards the fattest Sub-lieutenant, before he very agilely stabbed the kitchen knife into his belly. Amidst the agonizing wails of the fat Sub-lieutenant, the marine continued stirring the knife as though he hadn’t fully expressed himself, before finally pulling the knife out. Then, he marched back to Sheyan and handed the knife over.

By this point, Sheyan had already drew a stool over, as he sat in menacing fashion. Then, he bluntly proclaimed.

“Welcome ye pirate, my murderer sir.”

That captive released a gasp, but silently stepped behind the menacing looking Canbi. Yes, he had personally stabbed his senior officer. To a lowly marine without any backing, a stab was akin to paramount violation of english law. What awaited him would be the hanging gallows or a life of imprisonment.

Hence in reality, apart from becoming a pirate, he had no other options to preserve his life.

“Next.” Sheyan’s callous voice resounded once again.

This ‘enrollment’ ceremony very quickly went underway. When it reached the last three marines, those three sluggish and numbed marines had unanimously stepped forward to stab their former senior officers.

Of course, it wasn’t that nobody stubbornly resisted, but the consequence of those that resisted was death! What surprised Sheyan was that amongst the 8 marine officers, one was still fully intact. Indeed, it was that Sub-lieutenant Philip. None of the marines had acted against him. That itself, signified the elevated reputation he held.

Facing such a situation, Sheyan very bluntly chopped the ropes tying up Sub-lieutenant Philip. Then, he stashed the bloodied kitchen knife into his hand as he voiced grimly.

“If you wish to die, then carve your neck with this knife. If you wish to live, then carved the necks of those seven others!”

The stunned Philip stood rooted to the ground, before he casted a sneer and penetrative glare at Sheyan. Presumably, his next step would be to carve out his own neck. Sheyan coldly warned.

“Sub-lieutenant, If I haven’t guessed wrong, your reputation is remarkable amongst these marines. Therefore, even if you don’t desire to live on, you should still consider for them.”

Already prepared for his death, Philip suddenly swung round. Forcing open his dried and cracked lips with great difficulty, he suspiciously asked.

“What is the meaning behind your words?”

Sheyan answered coldly.

“You are an intelligent individual. Let’s cut the empty talk. My crew his lacking members right now. Therefore, I will surely employ your marines, who are dyed with their comrade’s blood, to charge the front. Without you leading them, let me see, how long would a group of loose scums last in battle? Even if you can forsake life, can you neglect the respect and adoration your marines have for you?”

Philip’s gaze instantly turned incisive, as he gripped Sheyan’s collar fiercy and fumed.

“You devil’s spawn, I was only trying to escape, I didn’t participate in frying this ship!!!”

His conduct instantly tensed up the entire situation. Except, Sheyan slowly pinched away his fingers, one at a time. Then, he stared into his eyes while speaking one word at a time.

“I initially tried to be chivalrous, but who knew you bunch of scum would attempt to repay my kindness my frying my bones. Aye, I acknowledge my earlier undertakings as foolish. Therefore now, I will amend this bad habit of mine.”

The usually eloquent Philips could only glare into Sheyan’s eye, but failed to mutter a single word!! He clenched his fist tightly, till his skin turned white and his teeth emitted chattering trembles. After a long while, this male then gradually tilted his head down, before squeezing out the words between his teeth.

“Fine! I’ll do it.”

With one swipe, Philips snatched the knife out of Sheyan’s hand. Without spouting any unnecessary words, he silently slashed the necks of his comrades who were already struggling whilst at death’s door. Then, he bowed humbly, and handed the knife back to Sheyan; explicitly demonstrating his attitude.

Between life or death, between the test of camaraderie or loyalty; indeed, not many would be able to surmount such a test! Though Sheyan’s charm was horrendous, his methods stabbed deep into one’s heart; utilizing circumstances, morals and reasonings to persuade men to yield.

After contemplating slightly, Sheyan then decided to segregate the 40 plus marines amongst the pirates. As of now, his combined combat ready forces soared to roughly 120 men (those who can fight, if factoring in the injured, would be 150). Sheyan himself would lead 60 of them, while the reputable Canbi amongst the pirate would lead 30. Lastly, Philip who had been eyed by Sheyan, was appointed the heavy responsibility of leading 30 men.

After the dust of the upheaval settled, Sheyan once again postponed his intentions in committing to battle. At least, that will only happen after Philip and Canbi could familiarize themselves with their subordinates. Meanwhile, the pirates flung the corpses into the sea, and proceeded to clean the deck fully.

While the pirates were shifting the corpses, Sheyan suddenly noticed a peculiar glimmer flickering within the uniform pocket of one of the midshipmen who had been stabbed to death by his own marines. That glow resembled the same category as the earlier bowsprit. Raising his head to inspect, he instantly received a list of notification.

Examining this object, Sheyan pondered before inquiring with another pirate.

“What’s the name of that old mate whose hand was chopped off by One-eyed Hog?”

That pirate instantly replied in fear and trepidation.

“I only be knowin’ his moniker be Ol’Seadog, Cap’n!”

Sheyan nodded and replied.

“Call him here.”

Very quickly, Ol’Seadog stood before Sheyan. His face was pale due to the excessive loss of blood. Sheyan straightforwardly handed over the ‘Brass Spyglass’ to him.

“Henceforth, ye shall be our chief scout. Although the value of this object is vastly incapable of compensating your loyalty and sacrifice, I beseech ye to accept it!”

At present, a pack of pirates had congregated around; casting their envious gazes over. Ol’Seadog accepted the Spyglass with trembling hands, as his muddy old eyes flickered.

“Tis’….this be an inheritance treasure, sir. I…..I be unworthy of yer acclamation!”

Sheyan replied with a pleasant tone.

“I am pleased with everything you’ve done. Take it and familiarize yourself with its efficacy with all speed, and assume your new post. Ye shall be Third Mate of this ship from now. Furthermore, I expect your men to report the status of the sea within every ten minutes interval.”

**********

The sea winds were raging stronger. Many ships had lowered to half sail, and though that was so, the ships remained distinctly swaying violently. It was as though a mysterious force within the depths of the sea was stirring up.

Yet to Commander Bath, he was eagerly anticipating for the ships to turn rockier. That would truly be the best scenario, because it would substantially increase the difficulty of those pesky pirates clashing in for naval boarding battles! He had to admit; having gone through two rounds of bloodbaths, the cannons and ships of those pirates were terribly dilapidated. Instead, it was their dauntless vigor when facing death, that caused him to feel troubled.

When the battle had just commenced, Old Bath’s commanding 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley Ship, the Richie, had relied on its devastatingly unrivalled firepower supremacy; consecutively sinking three trashy pirate ships of the same tonnage. As for the personal price he paid, it was merely several hundred kilograms of gunpowder and bullets, and a scarce few of casualties.

Yet as the scale of battle inflated, his ship experienced two rounds of naval boarding battles, where the casualties of the lads under his command was minimally a third. Yet the most unfortunate news arrived. Before the lads of Commander Bath could rest to bandage their wounds, the third wave of pirate naval boarding abruptly struck them.

Although The Richie had attained the illustrious achievement of sinking three ships in this grand naval war, age had crept up on him. Presently, Bath was feeling less capable than desirable, after facing waves upon waves of pirates advancing dauntlessly.

All of a sudden, a marine started cheering.

“Splendid news, a ship of ours is heading here from the west in aid!”

The gales of the sea continued bellowing; if one were to overlook the sea from the sky, one could see a 3-masted ship gliding through the sea speedily; braving the winds and the billows. The ship sailed in from afar, dragging along a long streak of trail from the north. Observing its sailing posture, the ship was brimming with a stern loftiness as it advanced courageously, as though facing death with equanimity!

Bath produced his personal Spyglass to survey. Indeed, it was modelled exactly like his own 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ship. How would those impractical and destitute pirates possess the capability of purchasing such a new and formidable ship? Hence, the plentifully combat experienced Bath immediately commanded.

“Inform our men, immediately prepare to switch out from our conservative defensive state. After our allies draws near, we will directly engage in a full on retaliation!”

As that ally ship braved the winds and billows and rapidly approached The Richie, the rapt marines even risked the ravenous assaults of the raiding pirates, to clear up a space for their allies to link up.

Yet in a flurry, they discovered in unparalleled shock and anger, that after their ‘allies’ had rapidly ascended on deck, they commenced a crazed evil scheme against their fellow comrades!

Closely following, large flocks of berserking pirates, dressed in ragged clothes, came streaming out of the opposing ship’s hold. Howling freakishly with unequalled ecstasy, they brandished their hatchets, jackknives, claw hammers, saws and whatever they could find, as they buzzed forward like bees.

The plan Sheyan formulated earlier on to ‘fight chaos with chaos’, was now in full implementation! Utilizing his side’s disastrously disorderly organization, to instill a chaotic battle amongst the opponent! Including the Hill Maiden, this plan had since been relatively effective as of now, with The Ritchie being their fourth* victim.

(TN:*author writes 3 from Raws but it should be 4 to tally with later chapters)

Noteworthily, in Bath’s perspective; after his previous battle concluded with a submerging pirate ship, this British Royal Navy ship had navigated towards a designated rendezvous outside the battle, and had took anchor there. Naturally, the casualties were also left on board ships that had left the battlefield to be treated.

At present, this grand naval war had crescendoed to a fanatically chaotic state. Few battles could catch the attention of top seated figures, especially battles fought around the periphery of the battlefield. On the contrary, for ships without adequate qualifications, so what If they discovered this battle? Besides, it was extremely common for another damaged ship to be leaving the battlefield and approaching the designated point. One must understand, though human life was invaluable, an exorbitant fortune was required to construct a ship! In fact, many would retain an instruction with the priority to protect their ships.

Moreover, situations of cruel ‘enlisting’ would sometimes happen; implicating loads of british marine captives to be padded into the processions of the pirates. They would then be quickly chased into the battlefield, and used to replenish the frontlines; holding the roles of spearheading the formation of the pirates. As for Sheyan right now, his pirate crew had gradually expanded as they fought. Though the mortality rate of naval boarding hand-to-hand fightings were astronomical, his crew was now nearing 200 members.

Bath unleashed an incomparably furious roar, as his gilded cutlass became dyed with blood. In fact, his cutlass blade was jagged after excessive slaughtering over the course of hundreds of battles. Yet no matter how many he killed, he seemingly couldn’t halt the endless rush of pirates. Moreover, his brave marines had sunk into an awkward predicament of facing two sides in battle.

This entire travesty had been caused by those damned marine imposters! Without them, Bath wouldn’t even have declared for a direct frontal clash with the pirates they were battling beforehand! This old Commander had originally planned to surround those pirates before annihilating them. Hence, after realizing the new addition wasn’t allies but fiends, he knew they instead faced the cruel situation of being surrounded and annihilated by their foes!

Suddenly, a familiar face flashed past Bath’s eyes. This was a face that had learnt sword skills from him in the past, and logically speaking should be fighting alongside him. Instead, the owner of this face was presently raising weapon against his own subordinates, slaughtering with an emotionless demeanor. Filled with unexpected disbelief, he howled.

“Philip! Do you know what you are doing?!”

In this instant, Philip turned and shot a stupefied glance over. His numbed expression even led Bath to feel the blood stench assailing his nostrils to turn milder. Philip’s glance had only paused for 0.01 seconds on Bath’s face, before he turned to the front and abruptly shouted to a marine ahead.

“Yield, or perish!”

That marine’s answer was to swing his saber across. Bath could only watch as his former comrade dodged laterally, before drawing his blade and beheading down. His subordinate Chief Petty Officer was instantly cut down to the deck, due to his reckless overstep; rolling several metres away. With his face facing down rigidly, he remained motionless. Only red blood remained pouring out of his body like a waterfall.

“No!!!” Old Bath fumed frenetically. In this instance, a surge of immense strength overwhelmed him abruptly, as stabbed the throats of 2-3 foes in rapid succession with his thin cutlass. Then, like a fierce tiger descending, he lurched ferociously towards Philip.

The sword arts of of this old Commander were unsurpassed; as his slender cutlass flashed through the air, it directly impaled into Philip’s right wrist. Evidently even till now, he remained reluctant to harm the apprentice he was additionally proud of.

Instead, Philip’s blade suddenly swept horizontally, attempting to fend off the cutlass. Nevertheless, Old Bath’s arm strength was miraculously mighty, as he strode widely forward with unmatched vigor; pressurizing and forcing Philip to shift a step back.

Both faces met each other, separated by their intercrossed bloodied blades. Old Bath then lamented with grief.

“What exactly happened, Phillip! What led you to betray our country, have you forgotten the oath you swore when you enlisted as a marine? Stay your weapon, I will propose an amnesty for you with Captain Norrington!”

Philip refuted in distress.

“It’s futile, teacher, listen to me. Lieutenant Commander Costa died to my hands, Lieutenant Madike’s neck was slit by me. I drilled through Lieutenant Commander Hejvit’s chest with my sword. Even if it was the Queen of Britain, my crimes are absolutely unpardonable.”

Old Bath could only feel his vision turning dark.

“You…..what the hell happened?!”

Philip smiled bitterly.

“The Hill Maiden encountered a demon, and even worst, I foolishly infuriated him…..I brought this calamity onto myself. Forgive me, Commander Bath. I cannot die to you right now, my life doesn’t belong to me alone, but to those lads who placed their faith in me.”

After concluding, Philip waved his sword, as he withdrew to the rear. Old Bath was about to pursue, but he suddenly sensed an indescribable threat pressing in from the right. Hastily swiping his cutlass to block, he instantly felt an unfathomably tremendous strength surging up from his cutlass.

Chapter 490: Crushing Reef!!

That force out of nowhere struck with such tremendous might, it was simply uncontrollable. Bang! A thunderous muffle resounded, stars scattered in all directions as Commander Bath’s eye darkened. A fishy taste surged up his throat, as a slash sent his entire body flying 7-8 matres away while blood splattered in all directions. As he sailed through the air, he crashed into eight other pirates/marines engaged in chaotic battling; bluntly knocking them rolling like gourds. The strength of that unknown blade was simply unimaginable!

When Commander Bath crashed onto the deck, he lifted his head in shock before noticing a youthful male marching slowly towards him; with an incredibly exquisite, dark-blue long saber in his hand. This was a mediocre looking male atop a ship, yet he emanated a suppression of a winding mountain range!

Sighing, that male fixated his gaze over.

“I am truly apologetic, Commander sir. That brat, Philip, is presently the equivalent of my left wing and right arm. Therefore, I cannot permit you to continue influencing him. Thus…..your opponent shall be me!”

Bath could be considered to have served the navy for close to 30 years, seeing before all sorts of towering waves and turbulent storms. Yet when he focused on this male, he suddenly felt that his surroundings had turned peaceful. The chaotic upheaval of clamorous slaughtering had been utterly screened outside his eardrums.

He could sense the winds streaking strongly and swiftly across his skin, causing his hairs on the back of his hand to stand. He could smell the intensified fishy stench of reeking blood in the air, and the magnanimous waves slapping against the steady and firm hull of his ship!!

The vast ocean, the expanse of lingering dark clouds, a bloodbath in close quarters; yet unbeknownst why, Old Bath suddenly recalled the verdant grassfields, those monochrome dairy cows, and an oatmeal fragrance of his hometown! He gently straightened his body, and wiped off the trickling blood from his lips. Then, he issued with an unyielding tone.

“Who, are, you?”

Sheyan dully replied.

“I am that demon you heard of from Philip.”

Old Bath snarled furiously, as his slender cutlass radiated brilliantly; thrusting towards Sheyan’s chest. Relying on muscle memory, he was already prepared to swiftly switch to any contingency execution. Instead, he hadn’t anticipate his cutlass to bluntly stab into the opponent’s body.

Yet, this indomitable rival adorned a countenance of utter disregard. On the contrary, he had seized this opening, and delivered a chopping ‘vroom’ with his saber!! Old Bath had previously battled laboriously against other the pirates for prolonged periods; reaching the limits of fatigue long ago. RIght now, his situation could be described as an error, a plate of loss. Watching the unavoidable descending, his heart turned icy cold. But at this moment, the distant Philip who was observing released a frantic exclamation.

“NO!”

Sheyan revealed a demonic like smirk, as his saber abruptly twisted and smashed against the back of Commander Bath’s head. Instantaneously, that fatigue driven old Commander fell into unconsciousness on the deck. Like a dragon without a head, the british marines crumbled swiftly into defeat.

Except, these marines soon discovered the intermingled pirates were receptive of them yielding, with even their former colleagues vouching that their lives weren’t in threat. Furthermore, the pirates formerly under Captain Chevalle started grinning nastily. In this very situation, it was apparent everyone knew their individual roles.

Soon after the marines onboard had been slain or surrendered cleanly, Sheyan led his group of pirates and inevitably met face-to-face with the other group of raiding pirates – subordinates of Chevalle. Both parties gripped their weapons with ferocious crudeness, as they mutually sized each other up from 3 metres apart. Recognizing Canbi, a rather fierce and robust looking pirate immediately shouted hoarsely.

“Irn’-hammer Canbi? Didn’t someone said yer died in battle?”

Canbi couldn’t help glancing at that pirate with dreadful demeanor.

“Crew head Blood-Anchor?? That must’ve been a misunderstandin’.”

Sheyan scanned the masculine built of this pirate, reckoning his appearance to be not one bit inferior to Scarface Harry. That pirate was hauling a gigantic rusty hammer soaked in blood behind him, which was probably where his nickname, Blood-Anchor, came from.

By now, someone had already informed Sheyan. Blood-Anchor was previously the vice crew head of Chavelle’s flagship. His personality was dreadfully brutal, and was banished to become the crew head of another ship after killing a comrade in his drunkenness. After having been deported, he remained extremely overbearing and tyrannical on the other ship. It was said that his authority even vastly outstripped the captain of the ship!

Following that, Blood-Anchor burst into feverish laughter.

“A weak idiot like ye, yer death don’t hold any weight. There’s nothing concernin’ your bunch here, smarty up and scram aye. Do yer need me to to hurl out some bones for ye scurvy dogs to nibble on? Simple that, you lot just need to kneel and show me how you bark!”

After he concluded his speech, the rest of the pirates broke into hysterical laughter. Sheyan had already probed out Blood-Anchor’s attributes, noticing that his strength was unexpectedly only 33 points! His physique and HP weren’t even that high, and couldn’t even compare to One-eyed Hog. Sheyan couldn’t refrain from becoming rather flabbergasted. Such a standard was capable of becoming a core backbone of Chevalle’s fleet?

Nevertheless, time was tight. Sheyan gestured as he tossed away further thoughts. All of a sudden, Reef erected his shield and charged directly towards Blood-Anchor. Naturally, Sheyan followed Reef from behind. After Reef had roared out with his AOE offensive ‘Shattering Cardiac Roar’, Sheyan complimented it with a curse-mix.

Concurrently, Brother Black had press his trigger while hiding from afar. DA! DA! DA! DA! DA! 5 consecutive burst shots whizzed in uniformly, igniting the fuse of a fiery battle.

Naturally, the blazing bullets grazed in first, deeply penetrating into Blood-Anchor’s chest; with speckles of blood rapidly spilled out. It even triggered his ‘Viperwolf’s Beard’ ability, as a German shepherd sized viperwolf bored out from the void; sinking its malicious fangs deep into Blood-Anchor’s abdomen, before forcefully ripping away.

Blood-Anchor roared in agony, as he raised both shoulders. One could hear the ear-piercing clanking of iron chains, as he monstrously manipulated his gigantic blood anchor. The anchor soared forth, smashing towards Sheyan and Reef!

The sweeping anchor emitted a sonorous buzzing sensation, as though a mountain peak was collapsing down.

Nevertheless, Reef maintained full confidence as he welcomed the blow with his shield. Although he had adopted Sheyan’s intentions and didn’t ascend as a Growth-hunter yet, his physique had long reached the 49 points boundary. In this present world of relatively low difficulty, this blow would clearly not be a huge issue.

Instead, at the instance Reef and that gigantic anchor collided, a thunderous gong resounded with an impact capable of causing one’s spectacles to drop. Sheyan’s crew of pirates sucked in a mouthful of chilling air, as their morale waned instantly….

Reef who had all along been esteemed as the core of their crew, had been smashed flying while vomiting blood. Moreover, it was the kind of pathetic blow out with both his legs leaving the ground, like in field hockey. Like a rogue artillery shell, Reef crashed into the nearby cabin; his collision resulting in an unceasing stream of snapping and crashing echoes. Evidently, the might of that blow was simply unstoppable, causing the flying Reef to wreck against countless objects.

As for that viperwolf spirit summoned by Mogensha, it had coincidentally fell into attacking scope of the gigantic blood anchor. Having endured damages from several pirates as well, it was smashed into a fleshy mire!

Sheyan’s pupils contracted in that instant. He suddenly realized that Reef’s HP had completely plunged by a third. “This guy’s attack, is actually this frightening???” Closely following, Reef roared with flustered and exasperation into the party channel.

“Damned, there must be something wrong. Isn’t this merely a B- difficulty world? That scoundrel actually dealt crushing damages and an explosive strike to me!!

Obviously, this blow had costed Reef a great deal of face. Before a group of ‘worshippers’, his most formidable and proudest bearing had been blown apart by the enemy. To him, that was indeed an extraordinarily infuriating matter.

Instead, Brother Black mocked sadistically.

“Everything has an exception eh. I alone can destroy that brat. Big brother Reef, take a rest at the corner alright.”

Meanwhile, Sheyan spoke with composure.

“Although his strength indicates 30 plus points, I reckon this brute probably possess an outstandingly potent enchanted storyline equipment! That is the only explanation for this. Though his offensive might is daunting, his flaw is exceedingly clear – his slow movement speed and sluggish attack frequency. His accuracy isn’t high either, and his defence miraculously low. If the three of us were to deal with him, but other pirates swarming up would be a problem….but now, hmph hmph, they wouldn’t count as a huge problem. AK, don’t be in a hurry to attack him, let me see if that brute can deal crushing damages to me.”

At this moment, Blood-Anchor was once again coiling up his clanking blood anchor, while laughing wildly.

“A maggot has sunk to the underworld. Next be yer turn, idiots with the audacity to offend me dignity!”

“Is that so?” All of a sudden, Sheyan drew his ‘+7 West’ saber and speared forward. Blood-Anchor roared fanatically as his mountain like gigantic anchor swung forth, carrying a sky full of sediments and dust as it walloped towards Sheyan horizontally. It was like a monstrous pickup truck colliding forth. Though its speed remained lacking, it carried an irresistible impetuous!

Sheyan positioned one feet forward and one behind, as he lowered his center of gravity. Then, he directly blocked the front with the back of his ‘+7 West’ saber!

“Keng!” At the split second where the pirates were drawing in breath, a crispy blunt sound emerged; one could only see countless regiments of oceanic-blue glitters sprinkling down as though something was smashed to pieces! Instead, contrary to their imagination, Sheyan wasn’t sent flying but merely stumbled 5-6 metres backwards. Two profound lines of indentation could now be seen on the deck beneath his feet!

Chapter 491: Proceeding with the plunder

Blood-Anchor blinked his eyes, seemingly in disbelief of what he had witnessed. Bellowing furiously, he lugged the chain of his gigantic anchor again; attempting to ram forth his weapon once again!

Yet since Sheyan had attained a basic understanding of Blood-Anchor’s flaw, why would he offer him that chance? With a whistling scream, Sheyan had already stampeded into his face like a barbaric bull. Slashing down ferociously with his saber, sorrowful blue rays poured down like a waterfall; threatening to slash his foe’s spirit and vision into two with one stroke!

Nevertheless, Blood-Anchor was distinctly clear his long attacking intervals could be easily exploited as a weakness. At the instant Sheyan’s saber swung forth, two of Blood-Anchor’s trusted pirate confidants had abruptly snatched forward. Breathing deeply as they tore forward, the bulky bodies of those two pirate confidants swelled by a third of its current state.

As they watched Sheyan’s descending sorrowful slash, the two confidants snarled furiously; their tattered clothes ripping from the dramatic swelling of their muscles. Concurrently, they waved their jetblack double-edged hatchet upwards to block Sheyan’s incoming saber!

Sparks scattered as metal fragments intercrossed! Boiling blood splattering in all directions!!!

An explosive strike!

Though Sheyan’s weapon wasn’t of an excellent grade, it was nevertheless recognized as a powerful weapon of the realm. Besides, it had been enhanced to a +7 stage.

In contrast, the two pirates wielded ordinary weapons!

This innate supremacy manifested instantaneously.

Of the two pirate confidants, one released a blood-curdling scream as he slumped to the ground within a second, with his blood and innards gushing out wildly. Not only did Sheyan’s slash split apart his double-edged hatchet, it even chopped him squarely in the middle!!!

Though the other pirate managed to preserve his double-edged hatchet, he was presently staring blankly and lifelessly on the spot while maintaining his hatchet to block Sheyan. When someone nudged him, he directly slumped down dispiritedly into a pool of mud.

To them, Sheyan’s entire 49 points of strength was the maximum heights they could strive for. Hence, when a ridiculously exorbitant force impacted against his double-edged hatchet, tremors of energy came pouring through; shattering his shoulder blades before terrorizing his body with unwavering might, as it shook him to death on the spot!

Of course, a primary reason for their instant death, was due to them having experienced consecutive gruelling battles beforehand. Thus, the HP of both pirates were far from full. If they were at their optimal state, it would be impossible for Sheyan to achieve such results!

Still, Sheyan’s present agility had reached 40 points*, and his movement speed was pretty decent. Though his slash was blocked, he immediately executed a forward roll as he charged relentless pursuit of Blood-Anchor. Then, he hastily slashed forth with his saber once again!

(TN: 20 pure agility + Barbarous armour (2) + Gene-mix (4) + Monstrous Fighting Spirit (2) + Ambition (2) + Matrix necklace (6) + random ring from ch8 of this vol (2) = 38 points. I tried searching for the final 2 points, but apparently I must’ve missed it out my bad. Oh well)

The might of his slash was lethal, sending a dark-bluish brilliance swiping in tight pursuit of the fleeing Blood-Anchor. Boom! It cleanly sliced the besiding cabin into two, as splinters soared dozens of metre high within the shattered divide; splashing sporadically into the sea. Even a pirate standing nearby the edge was thoroughly drenched from the splashes.

However, that pirate refused to release a single curse, for fear that the softest of sound would incur the wrath of that terrifying deadly saber!

Blood-Anchor had long abandoned his weapon while he sprinting frantically. Panting with large breaths, his eyes brimmed with horror and despair. In reality, the most brutal of characters would in turn, be the individuals who cherished their lives the most! Due to witnessing frequent broadcasts of death, the horror of dying had been profoundly engraved within them.

After Sheyan withstood his devastating anchor head on without perishing, Blood-Anchor immediately sensed that things were going awry. Within a split second of Sheyan rushing in to hack against his face, this brutal pirate immediately fathomed a stupendously frightening threat descending onto him. Thus, he turned to flee.

Desiring to establish his prestige here, Sheyan’s pursuit was much faster. With a vertical slice of his saber, blood shimmered out from Blood-Anchor’s back; mincing out a long wound on his back. Blood-Anchor immediately released a miserable shriek, as he pulled out a dagger from his waist and stabbed over.

Using his long saber to fend off the incoming dagger, sparks scattered as Sheyan’s retaliation had in turn, forced Blood-Anchor staggering 2-3 steps back. This time, Sheyan was fully certain that the strength of Blood-Anchor was indeed beyond his.

Yet peculiarly, when he probed Blood-Anchor’s data, it clearly displayed his strength was merely 33 points. Therefore, Sheyan could resolutely determine; the only explanation, was the enhancement of an exceptionally formidable equipment!

Although Blood-Anchor’s strength surpassed his opponent, his agility and defence were poorly lacking. Without his special ability, ‘Crewhead’s Barrier’, inflating his health by thousands of points, he would essentially be in the realms of an ordinary pirate. Such an abnormality was like Cheng Yaojin*, relying on merely a limited repertoire of skills; but once unravelled, he could only flee in panic.

(TN:*Cheng Yaojin is a chinese general that is associated with the phrase Cheng Yaojin and his three axe strokes, which refers to one who relies on the same old tricks)

Spectating this twist of events, the pirates led by Blood-Anchor became totally dispirited. They had personally witnessed their own idol fleeing from Sheyan like a wretched dog. Such a demoralizing scene was practically enough to strip them of combat motivation.

Such an intense battle only persisted briefly, before Blood-Anchor was covered in wounds. In this instant, Sheyan dodged a retaliating stab from Blood-Anchor, before waving his long saber across. Blood splattered, as Blood-Anchor’s left hand spiralled away after being decapitated by the slash! It spiralled a lonely arc despondently in mid air, before it plunged into the sea; resulting in only a tiny splash.

Blood gushed out profusely. Blood-Anchor clutched his severed wrist as he released a blood-curdling scream. Hu! In a flash, Sheyan raised his long saber and hacked down! Electrifying flashes jolted through the air, as it blinded the eyes of onlookers.

Without mercy, that saber bore down into the leather vest of Blood-Anchor, tearing deep into his body before it sliced him into two! The saber’s momentum didn’t wane, but slashed with a brilliance that spanned 3 metres; as though it could rip apart the vision of any onlookers!

One could observe that Blood-Anchor’s mutilated body had been sliced into two, currently collapsed to the ground. A feeling of gripping dread welled up in the hearts of spectators, as they observed the eerie jared bones and reddened flesh.

Aware of Blood-Anchor’s death, the remaining pirates instantly sank into foreboding silence. Utterly devoid of fighting spirit, they yielded in successions. Meanwhile, Blood-Anchor had dropped a rather perplexing key loot, which was merely a dark-blue grade key, and shockingly unloaded a bunch of garbage when opened.

Sheyan muttered irresolutely to himself, before trudging towards the sliced corpse of Blood-Anchor. Then he commenced a detailed inspection, and following his examination, he finally discovered a faintly detectable black glow flickering on Blood-Anchor’s corpse. As for that glow, it belonged to Blood-Anchor’s gloves. After stripping off those gloves, he received the notification.

[ Description: If you feel this unique storyline equipment is not powerful enough, you can sell it to the realm in exchange for utility or potential points; choosing 1 out of the 2 options. ]

In view of this object, the trio finally understood why Reef was struck flying by that shuddering gigantic anchor. So it was indeed the mischief of this unique storyline equipment! One had to credit the conferred privileges of the ‘Pirate Captain’ title for discovering this powerful unique storyline equipment. Therefore at present, anyone else including storyline characters, they were all incapable of perceiving this object.

Channeling his First Lieutenant authority, Sheyan forked out 1000 utility points to inquire about the selling valuation of this ‘Ogre Gloves’, In the end, the notification he received was – [ Due to current realm military rank being too low, you can only receive 2000 utility points or 2 potential points for this equipment; although its true valuation vastly exceeds that figure. ]

2,000 utility points or 2 potential points. In that instant, Sheyan felt that selling it was like a joke. This unique storyline equipment truly possessed remarkable might. Therefore, handling it recklessly to unloyal individuals would usher in hidden misfortunes in the future.

Meanwhile, the majority of those Chevalle pirates had chosen to yield, while a scarce few remained obstinate and were heavily encircled. Amongst which, was shockingly that Captain Jeter of Blood-Anchor’s pirate ship. Wrapped around by five of his trusted confidants in a circle, they roared with dignity; declaring that Captain Chevalle would surely seek revenge for them.

Sadly, Sheyan ruthlessly dispatched out the surrendered british marines to surround them…..if those marines still retained a repression in their hearts, they would undoubtedly be filled with a sense of righteousness when slaying these pirates; to them, it would be like cops capturing thieves once again.

However, before Jeter and his trusted confidants faced their imminent execution, Sheyan gently stood up and pointed towards the nearby Canbi.

“Canbi, you do it. Ye shall lead our men to blow Jeter down and bring his head to me.”

Chapter 492: I bestow you with strength!

Canbi lifted his head in astonishment, his mouth widening in silence. Yet his gaze quickly shifted to a resolute and carnal one.

“Aye! Cap’n, I’ll take care of it!”

2 minutes later. Soaked in blood, Canbi very viciously lugged Jeter’s head over.

In general, the state of affairs between pirates were terribly aghast. Occasionally, bloody fights would erupt, while mutinies would be incited to banish their captains. (As what happened to the beloved Jack Sparrow, which doesn’t need mentioning….)

Nevertheless, Chevalle remained an individual of principle and justice. Internal strife was absolutely prohibited amongst his crew. Once an incident occurs, both parties would be hung! With Canbi’s murderous deed, he had expressed his loyalty to Sheyan; utterly breaking off any prospect of returning to Captain Chevalle’s pirate fleets.

Observing this scene, Sheyan stood up and gestured for Canbi to take a knee. Then, he pulled out his saber and placed it on his shoulder.

“To reward your devotion…..I, Seaman Yan from the east, shall deprive Blood-Anchor’s strength and bestow it to ye. I hope you can exercise this strength to serve me well! However, this strength contains an immense risk. Once it exceeds the limitations of your body, you will face the brunt of its deadliness. Will ye accept this?”

Upon hearing Sheyan’s words, Canbi raised his head in doubt.

“Cap’n, It be rumored Blood-Anchor’s strength is bestowed by a wicked witch who fornicated wit’ his ol’man. I heard it flows deep within his veins. Cap’n….ye, how can ye deprive his strength?”

Sheyan replied indifferently.

“This is my affair. You only need to consider this, will ye accept?”

Canbi was taken aback as he replied.

“To obtain powerful strength, I be willin’ to pay any price!”

Upon hearing Canbi’s words, many marines and pirates revealed expressions of disbelief on their faces, as they whispered privately beneath. Instead, Commander Bath who had since been tied up exposed a despising countenance, as he thought with firm disdain.

“This moron is actually attempting to toy with these cunning and rapacious pirates, isn’t he courting death? Aren’t pirates scum who only eyes tangible gain? Without seeing actual strength, who would believe? Anyone can spew pompous words of deception, but only pirates wouldn’t buy such flattery.”

However, Sheyan couldn’t care less about others, as he handed over the pair of ‘Ogre Gloves’ to Canbi; allowing him to wear them. Evidently, Canbi had way of examining the properties of this equipment, but could only pretend to laud over this exceedingly ordinary gloves before Sheyan’s stern gaze. Then, he bowed before Sheyan to express his gratitude, which was clearly just a superficial reaction.

Concurrently, the private whispers of the pirates grew louder, as though a clamorous gale had blew across them. One could sense the morale of everyone turning unstable. Canbi could clear sense this upheaval, as his face grew excruciatingly ugly while looking at Sheyan; appearing slightly terrified and bewildered.

No doubt, this was already part of Sheyan’s calculations. He suddenly ordered Canbi in an amicable manner.

“Though Blood-Anchor is dead, his cumbersome anchor is inconveniencing our operations, while I’ve seen many simply winding past it when cleaning up the deck. Bring that grand anchor to me, but note, you alone are sufficient to carry out this effortless task.”

Blood-Anchor’s strength was 33 points, and scaled to a peak of 66 points after equipping the gloves. Naturally, shifting the gigantic anchor would be beyond light for Canbi, whose strength had reached 35 points even without wearing the gloves.

Undoubtedly, when Canbi heard this order, he couldn’t help becoming startled. Deep within his heart, he doubted that Sheyan possessed such a mystical ability; thinking his captain was merely exhibiting a mere symbolic ceremony. Thus, he responded with great hesitation.

“Cap’n……me wounds are not well after receiving cuts. Besides, that large anchor be normally carried by six of Blood-Anchor’s men…”

Truthfully speaking, Canbi was rather quick-witted. Not only did his words offer Sheyan a way out of embarrassment, it also completely preserved his own face; being unable to shift it due to his bodily wounds. Moreover, he further seized the opportunity to emphasised the difficulty of requiring six to lift it. How would he expect, that Sheyan’s face would turn downcast after listening to him, as he admonished.

“If I proclaim that ye are capable, then ye shall surely accomplish it! Even if I slice off your limbs, as long as I tell you to, then have faith for miracles can happen!”

Sheyan was practically roaring out his words with a snarling tone. Not a single word missed the ears of anyone on board. At this instant, the discussions and suspicions of their hearts were totally overlapped by their curiosity. Everyone’s gaze had congealed on Canbi!

Old Bath’s face also revealed an expression of disbelief, as he stammered to himself; as though wanting to speak up, but ultimately failing to do so. Only his pair of eyes remained tightly fixated on Canbi.

After Sheyan released this statement, Canbi immediately understood; even if he had to use his teeth today, he still had to move this gigantic anchor. Under such circumstances, a buried notion deep in his heart had subconsciously welled up…could it be cap’n wasn’t showin’ off, but every word of his….be real?

Plains of silence from all four corners. Everyone adopted a revering attitude as they paved the way for Canbi, as though Canbi was carrying an unexplainable mystery and awe. When Canbi restlessly arrived at the gigantic anchor, he heaved a deep breath and adjusted his belt. Then, he tugged along the iron chain with one hand, and emanated Blood-anchor’s manner of hoisting the chain on his shoulder.

He was initially attempting to exert his strength, surveying the stupendous weight of this terrifying great anchor; before he would decide on how to shift it over.

Never had he expected that after issuing an experimental force, Canbi suddenly felt an unfathomable current of strength jolting from his glove; seeping deep into the bones of his limb. In a flash, he had broken through the boundaries of his prior strength!!!

Such strength, such insanity, it overwhelmed his body instantaneously!

“ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!”

Canbi wasn’t mentally prepared, before such unprecedented strength surged within him, as he roared with uncontrollable ecstasy. Originally probing first, this insanely astronomical strength inculcated from his right hand towards his four limbs!

In a split second, that terrifying great anchor had been abruptly pulled up, and was now braced by his shoulder!!! What sowed horror in the masses, was that he had merely employed a single right hand to coil around the chain, before hoisting up this great anchor onto his shoulder. This wasn’t a feat that even Blood-Anchor could’ve accomplished!

Boom! Boom! Booom!!!! With each stomp releasing a violent tremor, Canbi marched towards Sheyan! Even the entire ship was swaying, and every marine, pirate, or captive had their jaws dropped to its furthest extent. Watching this scene with flabbergasted, reverential gazes.

They could confirm, this was event never to be forgotten in their entire lives; a tale that would circulate eternally amongst their descendants!!!

“The Cap’n can truly deprive another’s strength, the cap’n can truly bestow tis’ strength to others!!”

The pirates who were whispering doubtfully in private, were all appalled; their bodies trembled violently. As for Old Bath, he was utterly stunned, his mouth repetitively reciting the word ‘heavens’; as though he suffered from dementia….

Stomp by stomp, Canbi headed towards Sheyan. His present expression was numb and dull, one could tell he was wrapped in bliss and accomplishment. Crashing the great anchor before Sheyan, cracks emerged from the pressurized wooden board.

After placing the great anchor down, Canbi very humbly crept to Sheyan’s front as his forehead touched the deck to express frightful allegiance.

“A sin, this I, I doubted, no no, I previously suspected cap’n was deceivin’ me…..I deserve to be hung. With how mighty sir’s strength was, how could he be lying. How can I, a puny servant!!!”

One could fathom an indescribable agitation from Canbi’s incoherent speech; an agitation stemmed from the shock of attaining such astounding strength, delight as well as a fear of losing everything!

Sheyan noticed that Calbi didn’t appear as though he was injured, reckoning that Canbi hadn’t exhibited his full strength. As such, shifting that great anchor would probably only require 45 points of strength. Hence, he ignored Calbi and stood up. His eyes sweeping the field with austerity. In this moment, wherever his gaze landed, none dared to return contact. Imitating Canbi, the pirates knelt with fear and trepidation.

Obviously, Sheyan was very pleased the fruits of his actions. He finally lowered his head, and coldly admonished Canbi.

“Doubting me is indeed a sin. You must remember, i can deprive you of the strength I’ve bestowed. Besides, it was to me, whom Blood-Anchor perished to! On account that this be your first offense, carry on kneeling for any hour here. If you continue to render a humble and loyal dedication….I shall bestow greater strength of mysteries unto you!”

At present, innumerable undisguised glances of envy and admiration were casted on Canbi. Strictly speaking, kneeling on deck for an entire hour while the masses behold, was an act of paramount embarrassment. Instead, Canbi adorned a delighted and trembling voice as he lowered his head.

“Aye! Cap’n!”

Strings of regret and praises spreaded through the pirates. Some pirates remained deluded, that Sheyan would deprive Canbi’s strength and bestow it on themselves. Instead, such fantasies were merely a reverie right now.

(TN: The paragraph below is from chapter 56 of this volume. I felt that it would be appropriate to place it here because readers in china had problem understanding it, so author clarified with this)

Author’s note: The plundering ability has a definite chance of plundering the strongest equipment/weapon of an enemy’s corpse/ship. Without the ability under normal circumstances, plundering the equipment will result in merely an ordinary equipment. Only with the ability in plundering the equipment, the enchantment magic will then be absorbed into the equipment. This enchantment magic normally pertains to the strongest capability of the plundered enemy. That is why Sheyan’s crew can only sense that the equipments seems to have changed from something rotten into something magical, after receiving and testing it.

Chapter 493: Redoubtable HMS Dauntless

Sheyan no longer concerned himself with matters on deck. Besides, today’s affairs was adequate for the pirates’ digestion. Thus, he turned and left.

Right now, the two ships he had commandeered hadn’t been inspected yet, which could presumably offer him further delightful nuggets. Moreover, his reputation had inflated to an inconceivable extent amongst the pirates, where a riot would be seemingly impossible.

Meanwhile, the other pirates remained exceedingly envious of Canbi’s luck, where they staunchly affirmed to stay in this crew.

This time, Sheyan acquired a surprising delight during this time’s inspection. He actually discovered two unique storyline equipments. However, both were only usable for the ship.

He discovered this on the british royal navy ship:

[ Lisbon ‘McKinney’ Sail ]

[ Type: Sail ]

[ Origin: Lisbon ]

[ Equipment characteristics: Unique Storyline Equipment (Can only be installed onto storyline ships, unable to be brought out of this world.) ]

[ Equipment rarity: Light blue ]

[ Material: Thick sailcloth ]

[ Addons: Nil ]

[ Effect: After installing onto ship, it will provided 5% additional movement speed as compared to ordinary sails. ]

[ Installing position: Mast ]

[ Description: The year 1989 was a flourishing one for growing flax. That year, the Mckinney workshop reaped a bumper harvest of flax. That year, the quality of their thick sailcloth received outstanding appraisals and praise. Employing the sail cloths they manufactured will pave the way for excelling ship capabilities. ]

*****************

As for the pirate ship, Sheyan acquired something he had been desiring for long.

[ Tergi Emblem ]

[ Type: Naval Ram ]

[ Origin: Caribbean Sea, Isla de Pelegostos ]

[ Equipment characteristics: Unique storyline equipment (Can only be installed onto storyline ships, unable to be brought out of this world.) ]

[ Equipment rarity: Black ]

[ Material: Chitin, bone substance ]

[ Addons: Iron hoop ]

[ Effect: After installing on ship, it deals 2.5x of normal collision damage against enemy ships, with a 33% increase chance of wrecking a rival ship’s body. ]

[ Installation position: Ship’s bow ]

[ Description: A risky endeavour three years ago, Blood-Anchor led a crew to Isla de Pelegostos, and exterminated a cannibal tribe known as the Terji tribe. During the raid, he acquired an extremely lethal long tusk. After appraising it, it was actually a narwhal’s tusk. ]

After Blood-Anchor had exterminated the tribe, they didn’t obtain any additional information. As such, nobody knew how a narwhal’s tusk could surface in the caribbean sea, when the whale only lived in the Arctic. Yet one fact could be confirmed – this tusk was tremendously massive. After Blood-Anchor had been vanquished to Jeter’s ship, he employed this tusk as the ship’s ram.

This ship’s ram would simplify the common sequence of initiating naval boarding battles. Swinging over with grappling ropes would be no longer required, as one could simply smash into an enemy’s hull. After a violent collision and wrecking into the ship’s hull, the ship’s ram would lodge deep into the enemy’s ship; allowing the two ships to temporarily become one body. Ascending onto the enemy’s ship would then become a simple affair of a single step.

While Sheyan was instructing his pirates to install the Ship’s ram, a pirate exclaimed abruptly as he pointed towards the sky behind.

“Captain Chevalle has released the return flare, today’s battle be concluded.”

Sheyan turned and immediately noticed a curving signal flare skyrocketing into the sky, in the midst of the core battlefield; approximately dozens of nautical miles from here. Observing that pillar of flare shooting directly into the blue dome of heaven, it faded into the abstruse mysteries behind the skies.

Following that ascending signal flare, every pirate ship begun congregating towards a direction. Yet at this moment, a 7-masted grand ship from the Royal British Navy fleet suddenly cruised forward; shockingly, its appearance modelled the latest dominant Caravel ship model. Indeed, this was one of the three primary warships of the Royal British Navy.

Norrington’s flagship – The HMS Dauntless!

One could tell this redoubtable ship was one of a kind. It held utter contempt towards the congregating pirates, ushering an impression akin to a display of the king’s horses and his men; like an indomitable grand general issuing a brazen campaign for battle!

As The HMS Dauntless navigated several nautical miles forward, it sharply whirled into a horizontal position, while dragging out an arc of majestic waves; positioning its right broadside aiming towards the gathering pirates! Within a second, rumbles of cannons boomed thunderously, as they drowned out even the sloshing of waves in this vast ocean!

More astonishingly, all 106 32-pounder cannons of The HMS Dauntless had thundered in uniform fashion. A uniform single boom that caused one to feel a fault in their sense of hearing. Following this, minute seconds of tranquility ensued.

Meanwhile, the pirate ships could begin hearing oppressive whizzing sounds. Eventually, like igniting a gunpowder storage, an astronomically violent explosion erupted; followed by the encompassing billows of gales and turbulent waves!

The trio’s complexion turned pale. A contestant’s vision exceeded the average human and they could vividly observe, when the HMS Dauntless opened fire, a dense mass of 35 pounds cannon balls cruised in while covering the heavens and the earth.

The waves of cannon balls contained hidden fatal might, which could effortlessly obliterate anything obstructing its path. Within an instant, three pirate ships amongst the congregating pirate ships had been sunk.

Such were the tremendous results of this first bombarding, but the true aftermath remained unstoppably destructive as wooden shavings splattered about when a 7-masted grand ship behind was also struck.

The main masts of three other large ships soon toppled bluntly; carrying multiple creakings before it collapsed with a boom, leaving torrents of splashes in its wake.

Soon after, some of the gunpowder storages of the pirate ships had also been implicated; detonating up with matchless explosive destruction!

“A bombardment analogous to rocket artillery, pouring down torrents of cannon balls that outstripped the enemy’s firepower by manifold. Is that the special ability of that legendary HMS Dauntless warship?” Sheyan mused to himself.

“Actually, its weakness is quite apparent. As long as one can dodge away from that, and if The HMS Dauntless lacked ammunition…..once a naval boarding occurs, one would have to face just a large crew of gunners…”

At the instant the HMS Dauntless had commenced its bombardment, Sheyan’s perceptive sense had warned him of a tremendously deadly threat. Evidently with Sheyan’s current prowess, it would be absolutely insufficient to collide straight on with those peak level monsters of the Pirates of the Caribbean World.

However to Sheyan, he wasn’t required to accomplish such tasks, at least not within a short span of time.

“Set sail, it’s time we leave.” Sheyan ordered emotionlessly.

“Release the sails! Full speed ahead, destination – Tortuga.”

A pirate hastily disseminated the order. After Sheyan pondered a little, he commanded.

“Sink Blood-Anchor’s pirate ship, bring along only the british ships we’ve commandeered.”

After a day of contention, Sheyan chose the most chaotic period of both parties to abscise himself from this battlefield. The scope of this grand naval warfare was truly outrageously appalling. In addition, Norrington’s final display of might was so extravagant, it attracted the attention of most others. As such, Sheyan’s ship managed to leave silently without arousing any attention.

Although Old Bath’s Richie was pretty outstanding, it was a warship heavily emphasised on broadside cannon battles. Attempting to modify it would be a waste of resources. Hence, Sheyan maintained his flagship as The Hill Maiden, the one Philip had served initially.

Furthermore, to mask from attention and slow down the discovery of his revolt against Chevalle’s pirate fleets, Sheyan sunk all the pirate ships he had commandeered.

Instead, he left alongside the other three lightly damaged British Royal Navy 3-masted ‘Galen’ Galley ships. This was because ships were also commonly known as fortunes, and this wasn’t considering the weapons and equipments onboard yet.

The last Pirate of the Caribbean experience had provided ample warning to Sheyan. If he desired to rise to prominence in this chaotic world, then money absolutely couldn’t be discounted.

Especially now that he was a pirate captain, he had to consider the welfare of his nearly 200 members crew! Satisfying the appetite of these greedy scums was the first paramount rule. More crucially, Sheyan was also considering the main theme of the Pirates of the Caribbean, which was naturally freedom and risks. Lastly, storyline plots of this world normally revolves around an inseparable relationship between naval warfare and ships!

With regards to the storyline characters they will be interacting during this mission, it could be said that they posed no risk to Sheyan and buddies at all.

Nevertheless! Though the world’s difficulty was merely a low ‘B-’ category, it also meant that throughout this mission process, there would be certainly still be events or figures that could threaten the lives of the trio.

According to Sheyan’s careful deduction, he reckoned the difficulty would mainly pertain with the boundless sea.

Citing a simple example – The trio could easily dispatch a hundred pirates like Ol’Seadog, but if it was out at sea and they only possessed a tiny boat when encountering 50 plus similar pirates on board fast sailing gunships…..undoubtedly, they would die a gruesome death.

A cannon’s effective range vastly outstripped Mogensha’s range. Moreover, once a tiny boat capsizes, even powerful contestants would be incapable of surviving for long while floating in the sea. When the fatigue of continuous swimming exceeds bodily limits, their health would begin to plunge persistently.

At present, of the 48 hours timeframe of their main mission, ‘Set Sail’, there was still 30 plus hours of leftover.

However, to reach the pirate’s neutral Tortuga port beforehand, Sheyan decided to command his flagship, The Hill Maiden, to advance with maximum velocity.

On the contrary, he allowed a half of his crew to tag along with other ships; travelling slowly alongside those injured pirates.

Chapter 494: Hindrances along the way

Through his showmanship of grace and might, Sheyan had instilled a convinced and yielding heart within his subordinates by now.

A wonderful aspect happened, where a distinct segregation between the former british marines and the pirates had formed. This foreordained that hidden agreements would be difficult to achieve, thus eliminating the awkward predicament of future mutinies.

Therefore, Sheyan could confer authority to potential subordinates with a reassured mind. In turn, this enhanced the loyalty of the pirates on board the other ships.

The northern wind currently brewed relentlessly. With the various plundered unique storyline equipments and his ‘Pirate Captain’ title, the Hill Maiden was now experiencing a 15% movement speed boost.

As such, Sheyan’s flagship was presently navigating through the sea with an unbelievable velocity.

The razor-sharp narwhal tusk of the ship’s ram tore against the billowing sea waves, as the ship left a long streak of white trail shadowing its stern; stimulated sails swelled abundantly like the voluptuous breasts of beauties.

Under Sheyan’s fluent command, only a measly twenty pirates were hustling around the ship, while the remainder rested indoors.

Though the manpower was at a minimum, everything was executed neatly. Even in the minds of the pirates, they felt their routine taskings had become more efficient.

One must understand, Sheyan was concurrently assuming the three great personas of captain, First Mate* and navigator. Such a scene indeed left the pirates gasping in amazement. It was no wonder when Mogensha overheard the secret discussion of the former british marines; they mentioned that ‘captain’ could even command a fleet with surplus to spare.

(TN:*First Mate is the same term as Chief Officer)

During the voyage, the trio occasionally noticed other contestants sailing towards Tortuga port, in their single-masted boats with turtle-like velocity.

Naturally, the trio wouldn’t throw stones at people stuck in a well, neither were they kind samaritans. While observing the jealous and hateful gazes of other contestants, Reef and Mogensha couldn’t avoid sensing a superiority arising involuntarily.

As the saying goes, sharpening an axe wouldn’t delay the chopping of firewood. Though these contestants had set off 10 hours before them, Sheyan had merely leveraged 5 hours before surpassing them.

Inevitably with such circumstances, there wouldn’t be any suspense in predicting that party Ace would reach Tortuga port first.

“Boss, how much longer do you reckon till we get to Tortuga port?” Brother Black casually asked as he strolled to Sheyan’s side.

Sheyan shook his head.

“I can only observe from this map, but I haven’t gone there before*. What I can say is, if there aren’t any accidents, then roughly within 5-6 hours.”

Brother Black responded with shock.

“That fast? You should know, the realm gave us a total of 48 hours eh.”

Sheyan nodded and answered.

“The speed of those single-masted lifeboats aren’t slow. I reckon they would at most take 24 hours to sail there.”

Brother Black paused briefly before asking.

“Such a slackened duration……it doesn’t feel like the style of the nightmare realm. Could it be, we will encounter obstacles throughout our voyage, ones that will force us to meander around?

Sheyan chuckled.

“That possibility cannot be excluded. Still, the initial main mission of this world wouldn’t have such exaggerated difficulty as well. It wouldn’t be similar to that high intensity war during the previous world’s realm war right. Oh relax, I also allowed the majority of our crew to rest. If we ever encounter any trouble, they would be able to fight with an optimal state.”

Accepting this willingly, Mogensha nodded. After walking a few steps away, he suddenly paused to ask.

“Boss, do you intent to employ that thing in this world?”

Sheyan questioned.

“You’re referring to that ‘Dead Sea Scroll’, Remnant Page?”

Mogensha nodded. Sheyan then inhaled deeply and answered.

“That will depend on whether my plans flow smoothly. I do hope to employ that in this world! Be it good or bad, we nonetheless possess a ship and a crew which can be incorporated as a part of us; thereby apportioning the mission’s difficulty as well, this…. is the privilege of this Pirate of the Caribbean world. Besides, if we seize the authority control of our ship, then we wouldn’t face a situation identical to the Blackthorn tribe of the previous world, where the amount of loots re can rake in were suppressed!!”

Brother Black laughed heartily and agreed.

“That’s right. The enemies these pirates eliminate would equally drop key loots. I recently observed that though most of the loot chest produced garbage, we’ve managed to amass a sump of nearly 20,000 utility points so far. Furthermore, this doesn’t factor in those unique storyline equipment you discovered.”

Sheyan chuckled.

“We can’t sell off those unique storyline equipments. Once we bestow them to our crew, we can still acquire their aid the next time we return. We cannot commit the error of killing the chicken to get its eggs.”

“Whatever, since you’re in charge of these matters…..all the best boss.” Brother Black exposed his set of white teeth and smiled craftily. “I haven’t seen something you can’t achieve yet.”

Approximately an hour of voyage later, the pirates ahead had started shouting abruptly. Sheyan strolled over as a surprised pirate greeted him.

“Blimey smokes! The hull struck against something at the bottom. Our speed be slowed.”

Sheyan immediate inquired.

“Aye, Submerged reefs eh? I don’t recall the map showing a treacherous region here.”

Canbi emerged and shrugged his shoulders.

“Yer memory ain’t wrong, Cap’n. I’ve sailed through this route three times; heard no news of ships touchin’ reefs.”

Sheyan nodded.

“Has anyone checked for leaks in the ship?”

When his words faded, Ol’Seadog, while biting onto a knife, had just climbed back up from beneath with a speed remarkable for a person with a single hand. He shrugged his shoulders and informed.

“Cap’n, the durability of the ship’s hull be like the arse of an 18 year ol’ lass.”

Sheyan pondered before issuing.

“Light a torch!”

The torches on board ships were all soaked with blubber which wouldn’t emit much fumes, but could remain combusting for long. Moreover, its flame was exceptional bright. Its only shortcoming was the fishy smell it emitted.

Once a pirate shined the torch at the ship’s bow, he instantly realised an abnormality in the supposedly peaceful sea.

The seawater was currently rapidly bubbling, where seemingly large invisible hands beneath were stirring it forcefully. Moreover, the momentum of these hands were facing towards different directions.

Sheyan quickly shot an eye at Brother Black. Mogensha then immediately produced his rifle, took aim and triggered off.

Scorching bullets pierced deep into the abyss of the sea instantaneously, yet not a single trace of blood diffused up.

Instead, numerous haphazardly interwoven black strips rapidly emerged within the sea, as they gradually tangled around the ship’s hull.

On hindsight, they couldn’t see clearly what those black strips were. However, the waves became increasingly turbulent as loads of white foam bubbled up.

Although the seawater wasn’t turbid, the pirates were totally incapable of viewing the specifics beneath the sea surface; due to the reflecting glossiness of the sea at night. Phrasing in a more accurate depiction, it was like the sea was being boiled, as though something was breaking free from the shell of water and devouring it!

Sheayn snorted and commandingly ordered.

“Get more men to light torches and stand by the hull!”

Sheyan’s current prestige was unmatched. With a single announcement, everyone threw their bodies into servitude. Pirates scrambled over speedily. Sheyan tied a hawser* around his waist, before explaining to Reef and Mogensha.

(*ED: A hawser is a thick rope used for mooring or towing a ship)

“I’ll go down for a look, if I enter a near-death state, immediately pull me back up.”

The two nodded while the rest of the pirates were utterly alarmed. Especially those wholeheartedly loyal subordinates of Sheyan; individuals like Ol’Seadog and Canbi, they anxiously attempted to dissuade Sheyan from taking this risk.

In the perspective of several old pirates, encountering abnormalities within the sea was an occasional affair.

They claimed those black strips were hair of the dead that floated up from the underworld….desiring to glimpse the moonlight; grievous and missing the living, that was why they pestered ships.

However, they would merely delay the ship for several days before dispersing away. Instead, one would undoubtedly meet treacherous dangers if one went underwater.

Yet how could Sheyan afford to dally for several days? Hence, he insisted on going overboard.

In the end, a one-eyed pirate volunteered to undertake this investigation task with his captain, while boasting about his excellent swimming capabilities.

This one-eyed pirate actually belonged to the earliest batch that followed Sheyan. His performance had been relatively mediocre, and claimed no excelling points to his name.

In spite of that, his willingness to volunteer and guard Sheyan, had evidently revealed his arousement due to the previous event; a desire inspired when Canbi acquired his mysterious strength.

Sheyan naturally was well aware of his intentions, but this was indeed the kind of initiative he was hoping to see. In this world, Sheyan wasn’t afraid of crew members with thriving ambitions, but that his crew wouldn’t possess talents!

Sheyan glanced at him before asking.

“What is your name?”

The one-eyed pirated deferentially answered.

“Call me Blacksail, cap’n.”

Sheyan nodded.

At present, every second counted. No time for mindless chatter, they directly leapt into the ocean. No matter how reckless this appeared, Sheyan had already went through careful deliberations.

They were currently undertaking a ‘B-’ difficulty world. Thus, the difficulty of the first mission to initiate the storyline wouldn’t be too absurd. Besides, Sheyan’s swimming was incredibly proficient even in the present world. What more, the title ‘Pirate Captain’ allowed him to breathe for 10 minutes underwater.

Thus, Sheyan retained ample confidence when he dived down. This was absolutely not a bold and reckless operation.

The seawater was a plain of icy chilliness. Sheyan began a fierce cold war as he landed into the water, but rapidly recovered his composure. Soon after, another ‘ppssh’ crashed down from above.

Evidently, Blacksail had followed in his footsteps.

Chapter 495: Hair of the deceased

As the saying goes, all is revealed once a connoisseur judges.

Upon observing how Blacksail moved in the water, Sheyan understood he wasn’t simply bragging.

Biting a pitch-black knife in his mouth, Blacksail quickly swarm to Sheyan’s side before maintaining a vigilant protection.

The pitch-black seawater stretched out endlessly, appearing like the bottomless abyss; hidden beneath, were countless untold perils.

Treading along the water surface, Sheyan took a deep breath before diving towards the bottom of the ship; while borrowing the incandescence of the torches above.

Within the deeper regions of the sea, he could discern numerous smooth black chains coiling together, stretching towards the ship’s bow in concentrated interwoven fashion. Indeed, this was the culprit hindering their voyage.

Sheyan directly swam towards those black chains with bold audacity. As he approached, he inspected them while borrowing the incandescence from above.

How could this be a black chain? It was probably a vegetation of the sea that had woven together densely; like the braids of a young maiden.

These chains indeed appeared like drenched hair of the deceased; resembling chopped kelps that hadn’t been dried by the sun. They dispersed an extremely pungent odour, leaving one nauseating.

Sheyan reached out his hand, as a dreadfully chilling yet durable elasticity lingered around his hand.

“This seems like something I’ve seen before.” Sheyan suddenly recalled his maiden voyage in the present world. Sailing across the atlantic ocean for the first time, they had coincidentally passed through the widely acclaimed and enigmatic Bermuda Triangle. That time, their captain had deviated from their route to receive his secret smuggling goods, and headed westward along the Gulf of Mexico.

This was a sea route few ships had travelled on. Sheyan themselves didn’t encounter anything strange; only an impressive spectacle, and that was a ‘grassland’ on the ocean.

The depth of the sea was over 4,000 metres, without a single island in sight. Yet at that particular region, it was thriving with luscious rootless green water plants – Sargassum, a grand prairie of it; driven by the ocean current and sea breeze.

Those floating sargassum resembled an expansive olive rug, stretching into the vast distant. The quantity of Sargassum was simply innumerable, encompassing over hundreds of square kilometres.

Right now, these large black chains appeared analogous to those Sargassum he encountered of the real world. Except, the current was tens of folds amplified that of the former! This was possibly a relative vegetation of the Sargassum, but in the caribbean sea world.

They had propagated in bulk throughout the season here, like female and male ‘plants’ interlocked and jamming up the voyaging path. Hence, though such scene appeared strange, breaking it would make it worthless.

At this moment, Blacksail had swam over. Similarly, he sampled touching those ‘Sargassum’, before he shrugged his shoulders.

Although his body language revealed his reluctance, he still gripped his biting knife, and swept forth horizontally. The knife he held was terribly sharp, and he sliced it into two.

Yet the strangest thing happened.

The severed opening of the sargassum started releasing pulses of mild black fluids; swiftly fumigating into the seawater like fumes. Instantaneously, the surrounding sargassum speedily gathered and wrapped around Blacksail.

Wrapped inside the chains, One-eyed Blacksail’s body was utterly bundled. Although he retained some strength to wrestle free, it was a case of shredding but never ending. The more he tore apart, the more he felt the tendency of these vile chains to bundle around him.

Sheyan was about to reach out in aid, yet Blacksail immediately beckoned him not to; waving for Sheyan to swim away.

Then, Sheyan watched on as this understated but knowledgeable pirate unhurriedly released his the grip of his knife shaft. From within his hands, tiny egg sized granules wafted out.

These eggs swiftly adhered onto the surface of these enormous sargassum, before they commenced incubating; rapidly forming into ping pong size black beetles.

These beetles had springy long legs, and moved carefreely inside the water. Then, they began nibbling onto these sargassum; just like silkworms gnawing on leaves, their appetites were amazing.

In no time, the surrounding enormous sargassum were clean chewed away.

Witnessing such a scene, Sheyan faintly nodded; enlightened that Blacksail was indeed a talent. It seemed like his methods skewed towards witchcraft of the Voodoo cult. If he could exercise this subordinate, it could possibly overcome the deficiency of his party’s lack of a mage contestant.

But at this moment, Mogensha suddenly yelled frantically into the party channel.

“Boss! Hurry back up the ship, what are you doing down there? A large dude has seemingly appeared!”

While Brother Black yelled, he targeted and volleyed a flare shell into the distant water.

Instantly, Sheyan and Blacksail could behold an astounding mass of sargassum nets afar, where a massive shadow was rapidly encroaching in. Countless bubbles were wrapped around that shadow, as it released an impression of a dark gloomy cloud bearing through the sky.

Furthermore, the shadow was seemingly gradually dissolving like ink, with unceasing fluctuations encompassing its body!

All of a sudden, Blacksail’s eyes popped widely. Noticing his reaction, it seemed like he recognized that thing.

Immediately, Sheyan gestured fiercely towards him to return to the ship. When the two popped out of the water surface, Blacksail urgently called.

“Careful, that be a Chupacabra!!”

Sheyan was intrigued.

“What is that?”

Blacksail gravely replied.

“A massive sea beast that drifts between the edge of life and death. It be said, the Chupacabra’s appearance represents a tremendous catastrophe. Cap’n, this hair of the deceased be guarded by the Chupacabra, we shouldn’t risk incurring its wrath by forcefully pressin’ forward.”

“This the conclusion of me understandin’ from the stories me heard. The Chupacabra really enjoys the fruits of this hair of the deceased, while the hair of the deceased requires at most half a day to bear fruit. Putting it bluntly, this monster be leavin’ in six hours. Then, we can boldly proceed to chop away the hair of the deceased to pass through.”

“6 hours……” Sheyan contemplated a little, and immediately voiced into the party channel.

“This should be a triggering prerequisite of a hidden mission! There must be an event occurring in Tortuga port now, if we can rush there immediately, we can barge into the main course! On the contrary, reaching within this mission’s designated time will merely leave us with soup to drink.”

Thinking in such a manner, Sheyan immediately roared to the deck from the water surface.

“Is anyone capable of telling me, the recent juicy affairs of Tortuga port?”

Instantly, a shout emerged from the lively discussions of the pirates.

“Cap’n, didn’t yer heard? This few days be the gypsy fest of Tortuga. Those nomadic gypsies are floggin’ towards Tortuga and taking up residence temporarily. They be purchasin’ special divination materials of the seas, before continue their wandering.”

Sheyan’s eyes flickered before he earnestly commanded.

“Carry on speaking.”

Ol’Seadog then shouted to Sheyan.

“Let me recall. The gypsy festival lasts for a total of twelve days, with today coincidentally being the twelfth day. All gypsies would absolutely not stay longer than those few days, because the thirteenth be the satanic day of impurity. Therefore before the mornin’ sun rises tomorrow, the gypsies be leavin’ before this. Thirteen is the vilest number deeply rooted in their souls.”

At this moment, the Chupacabra had neared and Mogensha had already begun taking aim.

Instead, Blacksail cried loudly.

“Don’t! You mustn’t enrage it!”

Brother Black didn’t reply, but instead transmitted a list of information to Sheyan.

***********

When Sheyan noticed the words ‘tier-3 legendary creature’, he immediately heaved a sigh of relief; even if this fiend battles in its homeground, its evaluation would merely raise by a tier. At most, it can count as a tier-4 legendary creature…….

No doubt prior to this, Sheyan and buddies had indeed encountered too many other legendary creatures!

Ocean-freak Moria, Balrog, Thanator; they had even seen peak legendary individuals like Thanator Riders and the Great Leonopteryx. Yet they were all either defeated or slaughtered by Sheyan’s influence!

Hence, he couldn’t avoid feeling a mental dominance when facing a trifling tier-3 legendary creature.

Sheyan pondered briefly; feeling that though they were on board a ship, they still had an abundance of trump cards. Thus, he nodded.

With his ‘SN-9 Wasp’ pistol in hand, Brother Black pressed his trigger.

PA PA PA! 3 bullets shot out before he immediately swapped to his AK and unleashed crazily.

Chapter 496: Chupacabra

Brother Black’s current offensive might was pretty outstanding, and truthfully only required several gunshots to melt through the 1000 HP ‘Algae Bubble Shield’.

The ‘Algae Bubble Shield’ pressured under the numerous explosions, and finally popped violently; releasing inundating bubbles.

Finally, the fiendish Chupacabra emerged from within.

This was a beast analogous to the Plesiosaurus dinosaur. Its body was covered in thin black scales, while its glossy periphery formed into a spindle shape. A layer of thin mucus smeared over its scales while fins propelled out of the front of its four limbs. At the tip of its limbs, were incredibly sharp claws. A massive plumpy tail stuck out of its back.

The enraged Chupacabra roared sonorously after receiving a sudden barrage, as it swiftly darted towards the ship.

As the gap between both parties narrowed, one could view the exceedingly slender neck of this fiendish creature; along with its massive head and elongated jaws like that of an alligator.

Due to its enraged state, it frequently widened its jaws to roar, which allowed one to vividly notice the Chupacabra’s mouth had a composition similar to serpents.

Its mouth could widen with unbelievably exaggerated angles, while its rows of incisive fangs within essentially appeared like groups of razors. Regardless of vegetables, elastic, hard or soft; all would be grinded to dust.

The reason this fiend could chew mightily, was due to two crudely large muscles lumped beneath the flesh at the bottom of its jaws; muscles that bonded and stretched towards its neck. One could imagine the harsh consequences of being chomped by it.

Probably due to Mogensha’s vicious and accurate bullets striking it with searing agony, that fiend popped out its long neck from the water; aiming towards Mogensha, it jetted out a translucent colorless venom at him!

Facing this venomous move, Reef immediately tore forward to block Brother Black’s front.

Venomous fluids splashed against Reef’s shield, before splattering to the sides. The ‘Alien Shield’ was totally fine, where the venomous fluid failed to corrode through it; droplets of venomous dew trickled down its surface.

When the venomous fluids splashed onto the deck, one could see cyan fumes curling up. Though the deck was crafted with extremely solid and wear resistant wood, a puddle of charred black tained its surface.

However, some of the venomous fluid spinkled against Reef’s face, as he felt his cheeks burning terribly. When the thick charred pungent assailed his nose, it followed up with a spicy blazing sore! Half of his sideburns had been burnt away.

If he had been splashed head on, he would probably have to pay a trip to Korea for plastic surgery after returning to the real world.

Even though Sheyan had shouted a warning; the venomous splash carried no regulation, as it smashed against a pirate who failed to dodge in time.

His entire right arm emitted sizzling sounds; yet strangely, it was as though he didn’t feel pain at all. Merely, he stared lifelessly at his boiling right arm, bubbling, before it ulcerated and dissolved. Ever since then, his consciousness failed to return to him.

At this very moment, a figure strided out with large steps; unsheathing a sword from his waist before slashing it down, directly severing the pirate’s shoulder!

In a flash, the severed right arm was corroded cleanly, as though it had been tossed into concentrated sulfuric acid.

That pirate was unyielding; knowing that he had escaped from death’s door, he hastily contained the blood flow as he endured the agony from a severed arm, before bowing humbly to Old Bath.

Indeed, his benefactor was former Commander Old Bath of the navy. This old head was Philip’s sword instructor, and held an illustrious reputation. His temper was foul but resolute, and was a headache for Sheyan. Killing him would seemingly affect the morale of the former marines, but not killing him was a waste of food supplies. It was a simple but tough choice.

Yet although Old Bath possessed daunting strength, to Sheyan and buddies, they didn’t really place him in their eyes.

At present, Sheyan’s reputation had inflated exorbitantly amongst his crew, and even the marines had no other alternatives of escape left but to yield completely to him. Sheyan wasn’t afraid of Bath starting any uprising.

More critically, this old head was terribly old-fashioned; knowing that he was a prisoner of war, he adhered strictly to the conduct of a captive. He absolutely wouldn’t follow the footsteps of his colleague like Philip and his crew, trying to ignite the gunpowder storage to repay Sheyan’s kindness.

Despite that, old Bath’s present abrupt action was seemingly out of Sheyan’s expectation. If it was a former british marine who had been poisoned, it wouldn’t be strange if he reacted. Yet the one suffering was a pirate, and that was indeed thought-provoking.

Nevertheless, Sheyan was facing a tier-3 legendary creature. He had no time to contemplate other matters.

Shaking his head and tossing it to the back of his mind, he discussed with Reef who was currently awaiting in strict formation.

“It is simply inconceivable for us to rapidly dispatch it. Therefore, if it becomes too challenging to tank the front, then immediately breakthrough to become an official Growth-Hunter. As I was the previous holder of the ‘Aleku High Energy Injection’, I was able to check its usage process.”

“The realm informed that once you employ that injection, it will instantly drag you into a state of inner realm. When that happens, you can take your time to check your considerations and slowly choose your desired path; because, in that state of inner realm, time will be extremely slow for you. That is until you officially become a Growth-Hunter, then the flow of time would return to normal.”

Reaf earnestly nodded and replied.

“I got it.”

By now, Mogensha’s trademark AK gunshots had been consistently piercing into the atmosphere. Despite the accuracy of a spraying AK being ridiculously low, the fiend before them was truly excessively massive. There wasn’t a question if he could land a hit or not.

With Brother Black’s constant spraying, his two viperwolf spirits had been summoned out in no time.

Although this was the ocean, their incisive claws still cruelly scrape against the flesh of the legendary Chupacabra; while chomping away incessantly.

The infuriated Chupacabra then responded by unleashing repeatedly torrents of venom. Instead, the crew was prepared this time, and none was fatally wounded.

As the Chupacabra gradually approached, a regiment of red glow suddenly combusted at the tip of the ship’s bow.

Unbeknownst when, Ol’Seadog had crept to the ship’s bow with men, and stationed 2 two-pounder cannons there. The cannonballs for this cannon were primarily loaded with shrapnel shells, and ushered horrifying damages in such a close proximity of 50 metres.

As two thunderous boom resounded, two ghastly bitter wounds emerged on the Chupacabra’s body. Its reddened flesh squirmed continuously, attempting to forcefully squeeze out the shrapnel lodged within its flesh.

Under the immense agony, it suddenly released an incomparably thrilling hiss as it slapped its thick brutish tail mightily against the sea; abruptly conjuring a massive wave of 5-6 metres.

Flushing in like a water rampart, the waves heavily compacted against the ship’s bow!

Boom! The entire several kiloton ship was immediately skewed upwards by 45 degrees!

Such an abrupt collision of epic proportion, instantly sent several pirates howling in terror as they rolled and fell overboard.

Sheyan’s pupils immediately shrank. As expected, once a legendary creature leveraged its water homeground, it could wholly exhibit a strength an entire tier above it!

Nevertheless, Sheyan had brazenly killed such a gigantic animal like the sperm whale, when he was still an ordinary mortal.

He understood the weakness of creatures in such category. Once one approached extremely near it, such creatures would plunge into an extremely awkward predicament.

Just like those 2 viperwolf spirits that Brother Black had summoned. They were still vigorous out a sea, while insatiably nibbling at the Chupacabra’s body; where the Chupacabra was powerless against them.

In no time, this massive sea beast had encroached within 30 metres of the ship. Presently, Reef was stationed at the ship’s bow, with a shield on his left and a lightsaber on his right; steady like a mountain. At this instant, Sheyan pulled out ‘Ambition’, and aimed towards the Chupacabra’s head.

The winds blew refreshingly against Sheyan’s face. The fragrance of the sea felt like his mother was embracing him by her side. His hands were as steady as a boulder as he gripped a musket!

Yet he had to admit, the current threat of ‘Ambition’ had since resigned from the valiant leading post to a second line of duty.

Sheyan now treated it as a supporting reinforcement instead. His primary usage for it no longer resided in its damage, but the 2 second stunning duration and the inevitable hit property of its ‘Rum & Songs’ ability.

Undoubtedly, delivering a vicious 2 second stun onto this tier-3 massive legendary creature, would allow Reef more time to adjust at the front, and attract the main attacking focus of this fiend.

However, at the instance Sheyan retrieved ‘Ambition’ from his interspatial storage! A moist and cooling sea breeze touched against the Chupacabra, along with a familiarity tinge and saltiness.

At this moment, it was as though in this turbulent surging sea, a colossal beast was parading around awe-inspiringly at an exceedingly distant area. Abruptly, a pulse of powerfully mysterious connection produced a throbbing within the Chupacabra!

Instantly, it felt a wave of unexplainable sensation discharged by that peculiar musket. Such a sensation could only be described with a single word – deterrence!

A ruthless deterrence!

Still floating in the water, Sheyan could fathom a certain transformation occurring in the surrounding sea; even to the point of stagnating. Yet the one with the largest reaction, was only that legendary creature – the Chupacabra.

It was originally desiring to unleash its fury against these pesky bugs; yet in this short span of time, an insanely fearsome and astronomical deterrence had flushed in from ahead.

That aura wasn’t something the current it could shoulder. It was as if a fanatical whirlpool of incisive spikes was whirling in; whereby once it reaches, the Chupacabra would perish!

An event that left everyone flabbergasted then occurred.

After the Chupacabra had gain the upperhand by slapping a massive wave towards them, everyone had made adequate preparations for the worst; that today would be their deaths by shipwreck.

Yet the most impossible thing happened and the strangest scene played out. This massive sea beast, having already swam within 30 metres of this ship, suddenly unleashed a melancholic hiss.

To anyone who could comprehend hissing, this hiss was brimming with a tremendous fear. The Chupacabra was practically like a wild dog encountering a ferocious tiger!

Chapter 497: Analyze

Proceeding from there, it was as though the Chupacabra suddenly stepped on its emergency break in the seawater. It then carried the waves and fled for its life relentlessly.

The pirates could only stare vacantly at such an outrageous twist of event.

Nevertheless by now, the trio had seen countless of strange phenomenons, and immediately reacted; unwilling to allow this golden opportunity of beating down a drowning dog to simply pass through.

While launching crazed assaults, they cursed at the pirates to get the ship moving in relentless pursuit.

After a short chasing battle, the eventual outcome was that the Chupacabra escaped the hunt.

Instead, their crazed assault at the enemy’s ‘masts’ and ‘rudder’ has succeeded. By a lucky stroke, they managed to forcibly blast away the long tail of this alligator lookalike!

Blood dyed the encompassing seawaters, as the Chupacabra dove deep into the abyss amidst its mournful hisses. Meanwhile, the pirates were in an uproar, as they transported the severed tail back to the ship.

The thickest portion of this blood dripping long tail was as thick as a large wine barrell. The length of the tail spanned nearly 6 metres, while its outer epidermis remained exceptionally thick and sturdy. From its thickness, one could imagine it to be roughly 2 cm thick. Its interior fleshy meat persisted in endless squirming, expressing the tremendous might hidden within.

When Sheyan’s fingers finally interacted with the tail, he immediately received a notification from the realm – [ Unknown object, requires appraisal ].

Viewing that, he knew this battle wasn’t a futile one, where they still gained something though they failed to slaughter it.

Following this, Sheyan arranged for several pirates, ones with rounder waist and proficient in swimming, to lead the way ahead in a jolly boat.

At present, the pirates were no longer petrified by the horrors of legends, but jumped overboard in successions; employing their sabers/broadswords to slice away those interwoven black webs of enormous sargassum.

Sheyan placed One-eyed Blacksail to preside over this matter. Thus, even if an unexpected variation occurs, those pirates should still be able to deal with it with ease.

Noteworthily, these enormous sargassum were stubbornly tenacious; every time a gentle stroke braced against them, they would merely congregate back together within minutes. As such, the contestants tailing the trio would not be able to exploit any advantages.

As an astute maritime supervisor, Sheyan understood the logic of tensions and relaxations.

Seizing the presently snail-like voyage of the Hill Maiden, he tasked only a few pirates to maintain a lookout. Then, he brought out the previously plundered rum and meat, and threw a simple celebratory feast; allowing the pirates to rest and loosen up.

No doubt, such an order obviously received the endorsement of the pirates, as they begun cheering and indulging in their merriment.

The aroma of roasted sizzling meat and permeated into the moist climate. Chews were accompanied with an irrigating mouthful of rum, as the fiery spiciness seeped down from one’s throat before diffusing to all four corners of one’s bones….such contentment could merely be grasped intuitively, and incapable of conveying with words.

Sheyan circled throughout the different cliques, occasionally pausing for a toast or two while performing few dialogues to spark the vulgar laughters of his subordinates. Consecutively, he kindly reminded them to contain their drunken reverie; where whoever got intoxicated, would have to safeguard the ship once they reached Tortuga port.

Observing that the atmosphere was thriving, Sheyan then planned to retire to his cabin to formulate plans for their imminent destination – Tortuga port.

Several steps while strolling towards his cabin, just when Sheyan was about to swing open the door, he suddenly heard a thunderous outburst of laughter from a nearby congregation of pirates.

The next moment, he noticed a reddened face that was sticking out his tongue while chiding the other pirates.

“Yer bunch of…..scallywag idiots! Aye, I..I…I know th’ me..me…method cap’n used to……to chase way that beast!”

“Arghhahaha, cut yer braggin’. Wasn’t ye keepin’ a lookout at the crow’s nest then, yer didn’t even touch a single scale of the beast!” Several pirates were concurrently mocking him.

That lookout furiously argued.

“Truly because me was atop the mast, that be why me vision be clearer than yers! I don’t know what sorcery cap’n had used, but he called fer Paul! Or mayhaps, it be th’ phantom of Paul!”

“Paul?” Another pirate doubtfully asked. “Blimey, how many hundreds of paul be there in tis’ world, which Paul are ye referin’ to?”

“Mayhaps it be that Paul?” Another pirates was suddenly startled awake from a dizzy intoxication. His voice suddenly turned surreptitious. “Nightmare Paul? Davy Jones’s Paul?”

The group of pirates remained completely silent, as their eyes started brimming with horror.

As long as one was a pirate for long, one would inevitably overhear about the terrifying legend of a colossal octopus at bars. Within the caribbean sea, the stories of it was even more frequent than about Davy Jones; because though the Flying Dutchman was a ship, an unparalleled and mysterious ship, the sea monster was a paragon emblem of sea battles!

That lookout started turning pleased with himself.

“That’s correct! Olite, I feel the need to correct the error of yer appellation, please address it as Paul the Divine Guardian. That massive monstrosity of a kraken be an unexplainable nightmare to other unlucky pirates, but to us, it be our divine guardian!”

Speaking till here, that lookout could feel his words had successfully entice the attention of his surrounding comrades. Drinking a mouthful of rum, he began prancing around with excitement.

“When I scouted atop the crow’s nest, at the instance the Chupacabra nearly flipped our ship, me cap’n pulled out a mighty musket from the water. Takin’ an aim at it…..in that instant, the seawater froze like transparent ice! I swear upon th’ graves of me mom and me Ol’man, the shape of the seawater morphed into an unrivalled colossal octopus!!”

“Shiver me timbers! That’s amazin’!!”

“No wonder that demon fled in fear!”

“One suckler of Paul’s mighty tentacle be enough to the rip the Chupacabra’s brains out!”

"....."

“….”

When he overheard them, Sheyan too felt a sudden realization; knowing that pirate should be spouting the truth. That was the only straightforward explanation for the Chupacabra fleeing.

According to Sheyan’s inference, Octopus Kraken Paul could very possibly have transcended the tier-7 legendary creature mark, and become an existence of a tier-8 legendary creature, or perhaps even display the might of a legendary tier-9 in the water!

Hence when encountering such an invincible character, though merely an illusion, a measly tier-3 legendary creature would naturally be scared witless and flee. It was the same logic as a dog turning limp and running after sniffing the whiff of a tiger’s pee.

How did the illusion of Octopus Kraken Paul suddenly appear? The root cause probably laid in ‘Ambition’. When Sheyan had obtained it in the past, he only acquired it after passing Octopus Paul’s roulette.

Moreover, when he first joined the Flying Dutchman crew, it was impossible to earn the complete trust of Davy Jones. Therefore, that could also be a possibility of an act of caution by Davy Jones or Paul, who left their brand or certain tricks within the musket. Once they discovered Sheyan was a spy or someone dangerous to the Flying Dutchman, they could retrieve the weapon anytime.

Evidently, the realm’s powerful force had isolated the effects of this soul branding on this musket in other worlds. Thus, only when Sheyan returned to this world and pulled out ‘Ambition’, the arrangements stored within was naturally activated.

Moreover, the strength of the present Davy Jones and Paul should have scaled exponentially, and a mere leakage of aura would suffice to send the Chupacabra running in fear.

Besides when asking his own heart, Sheyan knew he had a clear conscience and hadn’t let Davy Jones down. Furthermore back then, his warning in the nick of time, had caused Zi and her party’s schemes to fail at the final effort. Therefore, after returning to this world, he dared to wear the pretense of a Flying Dutchman crew member to propel his bombastic status.

After clarifying the crux of the matter, Sheyan’s thoughts finally cleared up. Furthermore, he didn’t try to contain that lookout from adding oil and vinegar to his witnessing narration, because it undoubtedly favoured Sheyan’s governance over his ship.

At present, Blacksail had finally returned with the few other pirates he led.

Drenched completely, his skin was also scarred with the ash-black vestiges of those enormous sargassum. Several red swells could also be seen, where he had obviously eaten numerous hardships for this task.

Blacksail then proceeded to offer a spotlessly white tray to Sheyan. Atop this tray, were placed 6 grains of black bramble like fruit. These fruits were emanating a faint green glow. One look, and Sheyan knew these weren’t ordinary items.

“Tis’ be the root origin of those hair of the deceased blockin’ our ship.”

Blacksail bowed humbly and respectfully announced.

“In this season, the Gulf of Satmos be flushin’ with loads of planktons, fishes, and shrimps to tis’ sea region. As such, this abundance of food nourishment and the warm sea, be beneficial fer the sea plants to propagate. That be why the hair of the deceased chooses this period to emerge, to rapidly propagate its future generations. All us knows, how feverish the animals be durin’ their mating season.”

Sheyan chuckled.

“So this must be its fruit?”

Blacksail nodded in response.

“Few knowst of tis’ mystery in the entire caribbean sea, I be one of them. Aye, cap’n be one of em’ that knoweth now.”

Sheyan contemplated before asking.

“Then, that fiend known as the Chupacabra, it came for this fruit too? Treating these as forbidden fruits, therefore, it attacked us because it felt we intruded its hunting district.”

Chapter 498: Triggering a hidden mission

Blacksail pondered before answering to Sheyan’s inquiry.

“I can only say that be a fair and bold speculation, cap’n.”

Shayan glanced at Blacksail, before sinking into deep thought.

“You haven’t told me the most crucial detail of this thing – the fruit’s name and uses.”

Blacksail revealed a troubled countenance as he replied.

“Cap’n, this be all the knowledge I know, besides I am just a pirate. Oh blimey, tis’ be an exceptionally rare seed to fetch a good booty at Tortuga.”

Sheyan smiled gently.

“Somehow, I feel your knowledge is rather profound, you resemble an alchemist.”

Blacksail’s expression turned even more awkward.

“Actually cap’n, slave was I in the past….a petty and lowly slave. Fortunately, I lived under the protection of Turtuga* port’s Lil’lord Fokke. Durin’ that period, I eavesdropped on certain knowledge from a grand alchemist; knowledge that I was lucky to grasp successfully. That be the abilities ye saw from me. But with the destruction of Turtuga port, that grand alchemist had perished, and I be stuck livin’ as a pirate.”

Sheyan’s interest was piqued.

“And the name of that grand alchemist is?”

“Alchemist Peigan, may his soul be at peace.” Blacksail spoke with reverence.

Sheyan asked.

“How did he die? Even a pirate, I’m afraid, wouldn’t dare offend his dignity.”

Blacksail shrugged his shoulders.

“Before the madness begun, the alchemist was summoned by the lord to the castle. Before he left, he brought along many treasures, aye, sayin’ he was gonna perform a soul rite. I still recall the dinner he tasked me to prepare before he left – six roasted black pepper lamb chop, or he be rewardin’ me wit’ the whip’o. A pity the alchemist be missing the delicious dinner I made fer all eternity.”

Following that, Sheyan continued conversing with Blacksail, and managed to roughly grasp the current state of the presently ruined Turtuga port. Then, he allowed Blacksail to take his leave.

Without the need for Sheyan ordering, the pirates automatically took up positions after sailing out of sea region populated by sargassum. Once more, the sails of the Hill Maiden inflated, proving impetus for the ship to tear through the waves with paramount speed!

Visible foamy waves rolled in layer upon layer, pounding against the massive lime black reefs of the shore; hinting to the pirates that Tortuga was almost within reach.

As compared to the previous Turtuga port, this place demonstrated an appearance of being blessed by the heavens.

Spectating from an elevated bird’s eye view, the island was shaped like a very precise ‘C’. It had a bay of barely 200 metres, and was safeguarded by many lofty and towering black cliffs. Within this ring-shaped gulf, even 7-masted ships could take anchor here.

Causing the pirates to gasp in admiration, was a majestic triangular towering reef that was situated at the tip of the bay’s entrance. This gigantic reef signified that even with any impending hurricane, it would remain tough for such perilous exterior conditions to affect the tranquility and peace of the bay.

In contrast to Little Lord Fokke’s Turtuga port, this newly rising neutral port was supported by the backing of several clans.

After Sheyan’s crew witnessed the symbolic gigantic triangular black reef, they started hearing from afar, crackling sounds echoing from the brightly litted port.

A former british marine suspiciously mumbled.

“Are they setting off fireworks to welcome us?”

Ol’Seadog coincidentally overhead it, and bared his yellowish teeth while grinning.

“Nah, those be a firefight. Tortuga’s a free city brimmin’ with chaos and riches.”

Most of the former british marines then shrugged their shoulders with incomprehensible expressions.

As the Hill Maiden was a british navy warship, they were greeted with a baptism of fierce bombardment, when they approached the narrow entrance of the bay.

Soon after, veteran pirates of the port sailed over in jolly boats. When they finally saw a distinct fluttering jolly roger, they then dispatched someone aboard to investigate. After demanding a sum for an ‘entrance fee’, they finally returned freedom of passage to the ship.

Apart from that, they also registered any trading intentions of Sheyan’s crew. For example, any loots they had wished to sell or merchandises to purchase. To put it simply, these old veterans were like the port’s ‘coast officers’, but they weren’t sloppy as well.

When the Hill Maiden smoothly took anchor by the shore, Sheyan started calculating his time.

There was still 3 hours before dawn, which indicated sufficient time left before their deadline.

To avert unexpected mishaps, Sheyan ordered all his pirates to wait on board first, while the trio and Canbi dismounted.

Canbi had previously been here once, and was roughly enlightened of the affairs of Tortuga. Moreover, the martial might of Canbi couldn’t be neglected.

If anything were to happen in their absence, Philips and Ol’Seadog would be the ones to resolve the disputes. Only after they return, would free time for the pirates be declared.

Although Sheyan’s current arrangement was pretty unreasonable, his power and influence had since engraved deep into their hearts. Hence, the pirates could only comply.

When the trip stepped onto Tortuga port, they instantly received notification from their nightmare imprints.

[ You have set foot on the pirate port – Tortuga land. ]

[ Main mission: ‘Set sail’ accomplished. ]

[ You receive 1,500 utility points. ]

[ You receive 1 achievement point. ]

[ Note: You reached Tortuga port 8 hours early. ]

[ You successfully triggered the qualification of the hidden main mission. ]

[ Do you wish to accept the hidden main mission? (Warning: this option will increase the difficulty and risk. You will not be permitted to accept the regular sequence main mission.) ]

The trio glanced at each other, before huddling together for a simple discussion. After unanimously deciding it wouldn’t be a huge problem, they selected to accept the hidden mission.

Reef waited first. After confirmation from Sheyan and Mogensha that the rewards earned from this mission wasn’t plenty at all, he decided to be patient in upgrading to becoming a Growth-Hunter.

Finally, he accepted the mission, trying his utmost to suppress the difficulty rate of this mission. Nevertheless, after the realm’s weakening of his rewards, Reef had only received 300 utility points from the prior main mission. Fortunately, that 1 achievement point wasn’t discounted.

Soon after, a list of notification swiftly projected out.

[ You activated the Hidden Main Mission: Break Point ]

[ Presently, Tortuga hides many hidden dragons and crouching tigers. Many individuals appear washed out, but in reality, buries countless secrets within them. You can inquire about valuable clues from the Grey Pigeon Tavern’s bartender of this port ]

Immediately, the trio communicated their destination to guide Canbi, instructing him to hastily lead them there.

Along the way, they realized Tortuga hosted multitudes of individuals, and was relatively bustling with chaos. It wasn’t as strict and orderly as Little Lord Fokke’s Turtuga port. Instead, it was thriving with the obscenity and crudeness unique to pirates.

The four of them traversed through the streets of Tortuga for a while. Those recklessly constructed buildings of the port appeared rather identical to a mole’s nest, while filthy and dirty pirates ran amok along the streets; occasionally, individuals getting walloped could be seen. Whores dressed in cheap garments and adorned with low-grade cosmetics allured their patrons. Their appalling makeup were analogous of the clowns of today – lips excessively red or faces overwhelmed with powder. The city port was seemingly covered by a layer of thick dust.

All of a sudden, Brother Black shot out his hand towards the rear, and seized a hand that was reaching into his pocket. The owner of that hand was a shabby wanderer, with an anchor tattoo stamped on his chest; one could determine he was an unemployed pirate.

Caught in his illicit act, the wanderer didn’t show a shred of guilt or realization. Instead, he thrusted the dagger in his other hand towards Mogensha. Evidently, the failure of pickpocketing had transpired into an outright robbery.

Since that was the case, Brother Black no longer held reservations; agily twisting the wanderer’s hand clockwise relentlessly, until a muffled pop resounded from his shoulder blade. Accompanied with a mournful shriek, Mogensha finally released him.

Drenched in cold sweat, when that bandit pirate raised his head in agony while casting a hateful glare over, Brother Black had already retrieved his ‘SN-9 Wasp’ pistol and cleanly exploded the wanderer’s head.

This was a straightforward utilization of gore and brutality to display he wasn’t one to be trifled with. Undoubtedly, this action intimidated 7-8 other individuals who were desiring to seek trouble.

Naturally, a merchant without self protecting capabilities wouldn’t be able to blend into this rowdy port. As long as one didn’t seek a shop’s trouble, then everything else was permitted.

Perhaps, only such a high degree of freedom could allow the pirates to feel relax. Apparently looking from that context, Tortuga’s abnormal prosperity wasn’t without reasoning.

The Grey Pigeon tavern wasn’t tough to locate. Wooden tables were inclined towards its interior walls, and the craftsmanship of the tables were simple and crude. Nonetheless, they shared a firmness and durability of being unmovable. Sheyan even noticed the mugs of this tavern were manufactured with wood.

The tavern was dimly litted, as the white candles on the counter appeared as though they would extinguish at any second.

Upon entering the bar, after having their noses cleansed by the fresh sea breeze for long, a sudden whiff of stinky feet, alcohol, sweat and a myriad of blended odours pierced into their nostrils.

The temperature within the tavern was probably 5-6 degrees warmer than outside. A boiling cauldron of voices filled the place; where some were weeping while others laughing.

Furthermore, an intoxicated brute was currently brawling with a random stranger, releasing an endless stream of ‘pows’ as punches and kicks pounded against flesh.

TN:*(TN’s IMPORTANT REMINDER This world’s Tortuga (特图加) is a different Tortuga from the first world’s Tortuga (土图加). Both changed to english is tortuga. HOWEVER, the tortuga (特图加) of this current world should be the one in the pirate of the caribbean movie. The Tortuga (土图加) in the previous world, should be a made up port by author. To prevent confusion, I will address the first world’s one as Turtuga (土图加) with a U instead.

Chapter 499: Barbossa’s tavern

Only the bartender appeared like a civilized person within this bar. Above his skin tight socks, he wore baggy jeans and a suit with large buttons. Over the suit, was a chinese-looking coat, and beneath it was a beige shirt without a collar.

Noticing the trio gathering in, the standoffish bartender mumbled.

“Only rum and beer, how many mugs?”

Sheyan bluntly placed a golden guinea onto the counter, as he spoke.

“Our time is limited, we only hope to obtain some information from you; your wonderful drinks doesn’t entice us.”

The bartender released a sly laugh as he accepted the golden nugget offering a reply. Then, he continued.

“Only rum and beer here, how many mugs?”

Sheyan’s expression changed.

“We ain’t here for a drink.”

The bartender revealed a crafty smirk and replied.

“You can leave then.”

Sheyan suddenly burst into hysterical laughters.

“Interesting, truly interesting. Looks like you intend to deal vilely with us?”

The bartender sneered.

“Ferrer, someone wishes to stir up a row.”

Clinking their beer mugs nearby, several stout but strong brutes immediately responded to the bartender’s call and marched towards them. Cracking their knuckles, they slanted their heads and casted malicious glares to survey Sheyan and the other three.

The leading bulky brute had curly chest hair, and was probably the one named Ferrer. He warned.

“Ye scums best scuttle off, or yer wish for me to drag yer lot out?”

The bartender sinisterly announced.

“These rookie idiots aren’t aware of the rules, but wish to buy information from me, eh?? However, they are pretty generous, delivering such a block of booty. On account of this golden nugget, Ferrer, how about you chop off only a hand before allowing them to scram.”

Sheyan was currently rushing for time, how would he have time to bullshit with him. Sighing, he shook his head.

However at this moment, Canbi actually trudged forward with a gloomy countenance and bellowed furiously.

“Ye bunch of scurvy dogs. To dare disrespect th’ cap’n, ye be deservin’ of death!”

The eyes of the thick-biceps-round-waisted Ferrer immediately widened largely; feeling as though his dignity had been provoked, he instantly swung a vicious punch at Canbi’s face.

Simultaneously, Canbi unleashed a ferocious punch to greet the incoming punch. Two equally brutal and uncouth pirates were on the verge of an intensified pummeling of fist!

As for Ferrer, his strength had reached an entire 40 points, a figure that overshadowed most average contestants with highest attributes of 30 plus points. Against them, 40 points would suffice for an overwhelming suppression, and even deal crushing damages against some contestants.

However, to Canbi who obtained the monstrous ‘Ogre Gloves’, a disparity stretched further than the naked eye could see!

Kacha! A crisp fracturing resulting from the sudden outburst of Canbi’s punch.

Instantaneously, Ferrer was smashed flying into the air by the tremendous outburst of energy, as his arm became utterly distorted like chopped firewood. Sprawling limped and paralyzed on the ground, blood frothed out endlessly from his mouth…..

Yet another violent tremor befell this tavern, as dust soared before scattering gently. Originally, none within this terribly chaotic tavern noticed the rising commotion here; yet when Canbi made his move, he instantly attracted everyone’s attention!!

In spite of that, those few pirate ruffians by Ferrer’s side were still unaware of their predicament. Watching their boss getting oppressed, they pounced forward one after another.

Canbi appeared like he was exceedingly familiar with such tavern fistfights, as he lunged forward while laughing ludicrously.

Kacha! Kacha! Blunt echoes pierced the air as his elbow struck against the chest of the right pirate ruffian. Instantly, that pirate’s chest caved in, with blood spraying wildly out of his mouth. The bar’s originally stale air was now fuelled with a fumigation of blood stench.

Meanwhile, grabbing a steel rod, the other pirate ruffian slammed it over Canbi’s head. The pulverization released a muffled sound, as Canbi’s body staggered instantly.

In this instance, Sheyan realized Canbi’s life force was shockingly low. Evidently, wearing the gloves had resulted in his defence and survivability weakening by a relative degree.

Nevertheless, how would the trio just sit idly while watching Canbi get marauded?

With a trampling kick, Sheyan blatantly kicked a pirate ruffian spinning unknown rounds into the air. That pirate ruffian could only hear hazy wind sounds, as his vision turned black.

Reef and Mogensha weren’t willing to lag behind; unleashing kicks and punches as they flipped the pirates in this tavern upside down.

Observing the grim situation, that bartender attempted to flee. Instead, Brother Black lifted his rifle single handedly, before ushering 5 consecutive shots to puncture into the bartender’s thighs. The bartender immediately fell like dog eating feces, blood flushed out his nostrils and even his front teeth had been knocked out.

At this moment, the pirates in this tavern finally understood. Actually, this bartender, who was named ‘Dark Widow’, tried to earn dirty loots by cheating strangers. Instead, he was eventually stomped down onto a ‘hot grilling plate’.

Although Canbi acted as meek as a sheep in front of Sheyan, his pirate savageness was on full display at the moment. Feeling the huge swell on his head, his eyes glint viciously.

Seizing the head of that pirate ruffian who struck him with the steel rod, he repeatedly pounded his head unceasingly against the pointed edge of the counter. Amidst the blood-curdling scream of that pirate ruffian, Canbi unsparingly pounded his head till death!

Following that, Canbi brushed his hands as he strided largely towards Dark Widow who was struggling in a pool of blood. Grasping his hair, Canbi dragged his upper body off the floor, and spitted word by word in Dark Widow’s face.

“I heard yer intended to carve out me cap’n’s hand before chasin’ us out?”

His eyes filled with bitter resentment, as Dark Widow clenched his teeth and cursed.

“Do you know whose tavern is this? If Mister Barbossa gets wind of this matter, he will hang your skin atop chimneys! The women of your households will be sold off as whores…..”

PA! Without concluding his statement, Canbi had released a slap to his face! Such was his barbarian like energy, that his slap easily shattered Dark Widow’s cheek bone. Blood oozed out of Dark Widow’s ears, and before he could struggle to utter anything, Canbi had already raised his hand again.

“Stop!” Sheyan suddenly commanded emotionlessly.

Dark Widow’s gaze flushed with delight, as he couldn’t help but offered a stammered wild laughter. Then, he smoked with an indistinct tone.

“You finally afraid? Then immediately kneel and beg for your lives a thousand times, mayhaps, I will spare your wretched life.”

Sheyan ignored him but issued to the unconvinced Canbi.

“I still have matters to ask him. Remember, he doesn’t die and must retain his ability to speak and listen. However else, I leave it to you.”

Dark Widow instantly choked on his conceited laughter. Instead, Canbi immediately seized him up with a malevolent smile, before pressing his right hand atop the tavern counter.

Dark Widow could finally sense horror, as the five fingers of his suppressed right hand wrestled incessantly to break free. But where would he find a freakish strength that could withstand Canbi?

In the next second, a incomparably shrilling shriek pierced into the air. Canbi’s punch had pulverized down onto Dark Widow’s right arm. The might of his fist was beyond imagination, as Dark Widow’s suspended right arm directly cracked with ‘kachas’ like a dried twig.

Following that, Canbi easily twisted it off, as Dark Widow’s right hand was bluntly snapped off with blood gushing out wildly.

Under such torment, Dark Widow finally crumbled internally and started pleading miserably for mercy. Sheyan squatted down, and spoke with great interest.

“How is it, you finally interested in conversing with me?”

Dark Widow’s face was blended with blood, mucus and dirt. His current state was the most pathetic of pathetics, the worst of all embarrassment.

At present, he didn’t even have the strength to speak, and could only nod repetitively like a pecking pigeon.

Sheyan then demanded indifferent.

“Has any abnormal event occurred on the island recently?”

Dark Widow panted before he squeezed out the words with great difficulty.

“If you’re talking about……Tortuga’s……latest circulating rumoured happenings, then nothing can surpass….various large emporiums purchasing precious and valuable objects with high prices.”

Sheyan asked.

“Are you sure? Such a statement isn’t worth that seventeen guineas tossed to you.”

Canbi then threatened by the side.

“Aye, two eyeballs, ears and a nose be a reasonable compensation.”

Dark Widow’s body trembled as he pleaded.

“Wait!! Actually those lads purchasing valuable objects, would ultimately sell them off to the gypsies. Frequently, a shift in hands would yield 2-3 times of the purchasing price!”

Sheyan doubtfully asked.

“Really?”

“Yes really!!” Dark Widow shivered as he replied. “I swear on the grave of my ancestors!”

Same as the gypsies of the present world, those gypsies were experts in smelting, roaming and divinity; where tarot cards and caravans were the trademark of this ethnic nomads.

At this moment, the trio received notification from their nightmare imprint.

[ Hidden main mission ‘Breakpoint’ activated. ]

[ You receive 2 options. ]

[ Option 1 – Seek out relevant information about those precious valuable objects from reliable emporiums. ]

[ Option 2 – Seek out the gypsies and obtain relevant information by directly transacting precious valuable objects with them. ]

[ Warning: Option 2 will increase the mission’s difficulty again. ]

When Sheyan had entered this world, their mission difficulty was deemed as ‘B-’. However, after activated the hidden mission ‘Breakpoint’, its difficulty had scaled to ‘B’. If they currently picked option 2, then undoubtedly its difficulty would soar to ‘B+’.

This was a difficulty equivalent to that of eradicating the Blade Empress’s subsidiary forces back in the Starship Trooper world.

Despite that, factoring in the fact that Reef could promote as an official Growth-Hunter at anytime, and that Sheyan’s individual prowess had scaled to such a formidable state, a ‘B+’ difficulty wouldn’t necessarily be unacceptable.

Thus, the trio straightforwardly chose option 2. As expected according to Sheyan’s conjecture, this hidden main mission indeed had a time limit – it was definitely interlocked with the gypsies leaving before the morning twilight!
